It really is remarkable how consistently terrible this fanfic is. It never gets any better, it started at, like, level -50 and has steadily been descending ever since then. the story is set in high school so presumably the characters are aged up a bit. more to the point i cannot stress enough that they are fictional cartoon talking animals, not real human beings.

I get that, but I'm still not comfortable with this. Like, even with how Sega retconned the ages and imply them to be adults which apparently made it easier for me to stomach this, albeit not by much, Tails, Cream, and even Charmy are kid-coded, so even if they're aged up in this story, I still feel immensely grossed out.

that's fair, and maybe this speaks more to my level of internet desensitivity than anything - that the sexualization of characters in fan content regardless of their canonical ages is nothing new, and imo still barely scratches the surface of the questionable themes in this fic. that said, your discomfort is understandable and i didn't really mean to pick an argument over it.

Nah, man. Idk when it started, but at some point it became a meme that Sonic is a signature thing to autism, similar to trains. Apparently Sonic just happens to be very popular among autistic folks. I'm on the spectrum myself, and was quite a big Sonic-fan as a kid, so the meme gets a chuckle out of me. I thought it was quite ironic what happened in this fic, hence the joke.
