it’s joever

Ash S.

SAD. It was such a fun series!

Millsy

Well that didn’t last long.

Panzer

Finish Stray. It's such a short game. Us paying members deserve it

Ryugamer _

Damn. But it's understandable if something's not working. Why beat a dead horse

T M

that was quick lol

Amaterasu

I'm still hoping for a full TUNIC plsythrough.

SeikoRose

I hope some day y’all stumble upon At dead of night, really good horror game 😔 But this was fun while it lasted!

enderman

finish stray please !!!

Alex

A sad day for us all

angelodusoleil

Man, I just resubbed yesterday to submit an idea

larry

did u guys consider how this would make me feel

Iliana Bugg

Not sure if this will be seen but maybe a ten minute power hour/game play with the twrp boys? Or some sort of artistic type of thing 😁😊 I’ve been watching game grumps since I was about 10 or 11 and your videos have gotten me through some pretty rough times I really appreciate all you guys do for us lovelies and I really hope you guys know how amazing you guys are ☺️

Baroness Unicorn

I get it. The fanfiction is enough to keep me coming back to the Patreon.

Mallow

Jesus I only just asked :') no worries guys. We love yall nonetheless

Lucy

Bruh what

Moofin

Aw man, I liked it. :( It has some interesting games you guys would never have played otherwise

Shembear

Aww that's very unfortunate, I really enjoyed some of these, but it's really a hit or miss situation so I get it.. I appreciate the effort to let us suggest games, I never suggested any but the option to do do isn't something to take for granted.

carlinianam0s

That makes sense. Asking them to play a game that can potentially be played for hours and hours will lead to people being mad that they didn't finish it when the reality is that that's not who they are. It's a concept that really only works if people pick short one-shot games that they can finish in a max of two episodes.

Carto

They must have spun my submission of Sonic 06 :(

Skullghost3

Aw man this was so unexpected 😔

Picori

As sad as this makes me, the reasoning makes total sense. A lot of the game suggested didn't quit fit GG in a show format.

Shelby

Understandable! Not all games work with the game grumps format 🤷🏼‍♀️

Menchaca

Soo.. no killer7?

Leoné Jordan

Oh gosh darn! They haven’t played and finished Victoria 3 yet.

ArchaicTravail

I get it. It didn't really work. Glad you tried, though.

Kyle Major

It was an interesting experiment, thanks for trying it out

Julia Soler

It was fun while it lasted, hope we still get to see games some we've asked for for a long play (cause some are big story games). Thanks for hearing us and having fun with it!

Abby Rice

It was such a brilliant idea, but I get walking it back!

jUDDERbUd

I expected this. Lovelies, y’all need to chill out when they only play games once. There are so many games that they have been requested to play. But then y’all start throwing fits and hating on the Grumps team because it didn’t meet YOUR expectations in length or amount of episodes. Good on Arin and the team deciding to cut it off before it grows into something that they don’t want to do and receive overwhelming disdain from “fans.” Love you guys! Lovelies, chill out.

BlopKitsune

I'm conflicted. On one hand I'm sad because we can't submit more games. On the other, a lot of the games we've seen really needed more time to cook so I'm kind of glad.

crowclawprints

sad to see it go but i get it, still adore the channel and whichever direction you guys go we’ll follow :)

Buggy

I am so so so sad my game never even made it onto a wheel 😭

Ken Harris

Understood. It's kind of a no-win situation. You play a fan beloved game and get stuck or only play one episode and people get upset.

Romannoodles

Does this mean no more frog detective 😞😢

Quinn_Spooples

Hopefully y’all will still play some of the games on the list (especially Indigo Park, love seeing indie horror get a spotlight especially great games like that)

Yuribearstorm

I think Lovely Choices is amazing very good idea on paper but I can imagine that being SO stressful for you guys so it’s very understandable, to me. I hope you guys find something else that makes you a bit more comfortable

Matthew Jenkins

Stray was such a great find thru lovely choices and I'm fairly certain a lot of people would like to see that series continue

Chloe!

That's perfectly understandable! Sad, but understandable yk?

Rhys

It was fun while it lasted!

Levi

I understand, honestly.

PeachyPapillon

I find myself agreeing with the folks saying it’s a lovely idea, but it always had issues. It felt like they always had to be one offs, regardless of the grumps actual interest. Personally I think the grumps are at their finest when they are into the game, so constantly jacking with them…. I dunno. Requests are fun and all, but I’d rather let the masters do their thing.

Mitchell Boutilier

Instead of lovely choices where you take ALL suggestions from fans and only play 1 episode every other week, would there be any interest or validity to doing polls for a MUCH smaller number of viewer submitted games and then doing a 4 Friday episodes of that game for a month? Basically take top 5 or whatever games that have been submitted (or random 5 to avoid people bombarding the submissions), use Patreon or w/e to poll what people's preference of this reduced list, commit to that game for 2-3 hours so you have enough to make episodes for a month, and then if you guys REALLY enjoyed the game or it did well with views for all episodes, you would know it could be something that rolls into maybe a long play if needed. I think this would give best of both worlds; fans would feel like their game was given enough of a chance (example being Disco Elysium, 1 episode was not NEARLY enough for a game that would 100% fit the channel), and Grumps would have the ability to see the performance of a game on the channel and if it would be a successful series. Edit: clarified poll part.

Nikki-John-Wicky

Can you guys read spooky stories?! Similar to fanfiction story time, but scary!

Elizabeth Levan

Sad to see it go but understandable. Love you guys.

Rachel

Awwwww this is sad. I loved Lovely Choices.

Maddy

Yeah that's a fair decision, long games are difficult to do unless you commit to it. If anything it's a good experience to see if it could be picked up later on. It must have been challenging to go through all the games.

Tpizza

Awe! It’s ok Arin!! Do what you see Is best!!! All love to you, Dan and every one else who runs everything BTS

Jacqueline Smith

I might be the only fan who wants to see you watch mouth washing, but it’s similar in my mind to PT, being a psychological horror indie game with a neat setting and framing. It’s not very long, but it hits hard and has a lot of really interesting messages

Jamie Bird

I just wanted to see the duo's reaction to 2B and her ass (submitted nier automata)

Marcella Flowers

it wasn't my submission, but I'd give you my firstborn child if you finished Little Misfortune (pls start over and take the coloring book tho, trust me on this)

pmags

Id love a nightreign episode. theres no voice chat so it be pretty funny

sapph

As a viewer, I really appreciated seeing games that I’ve wanted (and that others have wanted) to see y’all play but maybe don’t quite fit within the format of the channel or the vibes that the grumps focus on. The Yakuza mini games being a great example. I totally understand the kind of commitment many of these games take and that needs to be taken into consideration. The connection you guys provided between the patreon fans and you was so special and I really appreciate the choice to do Lovely Choices in the first place!

Terror99

Been a blast! Thanks yall for taking our suggestions and showing us a good time :)

Benny Lowry

Aw man, I JUST submitted a suggestion at the beginning of this week. I think I commented this on a video on the channel, but I’ll say it here: I liked this idea a lot, because it felt like a new version of the old days when people would send in games

Autumn

It makes sense. I respect it. Just know I will be crossing my fingers for saya no uta lmao

Kasandra Von Glockner

I’m kind of sad to see this go too maybe you could do it in interspersed with everything else

Kayleigh G

I had the same thought! Like a poll of 4/5 games. Maybe a Lovely Game of the Month type thing

Sarah Reis

Makes sense. Totally understandable.

S.J. Hartsfield

Damn my wife and I just became Patrons and made suggestions for the wheel, is this all our fault???? (jk thank you for the experiment!)

Luzzzername27

Very sad to see it end but 100% understand!!! I’m really mostly just here for you two more than I am for the game and I know most people feel the same too!! Love yall tons🫶

Jared Nagel

Thanks for the visibility! I’m ride or die, but it is fun to see what you guys come up with. Robot Alchemic Drive was a banger

Dangmo

That’s too bad, I really loved seeing you play Disco

Ria.

Understandable, really. The GG zeitgeist has always been about "let's throw things at the wall that interest us and see if it sticks," and there are only so many hours in the day to produce content, and stay sane. So, between that and "inviting people to just be grumpy because THEIR pick wasn't selected," etc. It makes sense to close it. Look forward to seeing what replaces it, if anything does. :)

Poombly

That's a shame, especially after the wheel was to close to landing on Bluey last time. I hope you come around to playing that someday.

Ben Pingree

Maybe the format should change to posting a list of a few choices and doing a poll of the lovelies. Then play the winner. That way you can curate what games you think would work and also manage expectations. I loved it and can't wait for what happens next.

oob

Loved the series but definitely understand not being able to keep up with all the long games that were suggested. You guys and the rest of the team have so much to keep up with as it is.

Cameron Floyd

I thought it was awesome that you played user-submitted games. I understand why you guys didn't play more of the longer games, it still would've been nice to see you guys finish the ones you started, though. It'd be cool if you continued it on Patreon, but if this is it then thanks. You guys are awesome

Abby

SAME I’m sure they’ll get around to it eventually though

Wyatt

Yeah I felt the majority of the Game Grumps episodes that came from Lovely Choices were just... lacking 🤷

Sara Sara

This is sad because there are a lottt of games I’d love to see you guys play. However I understand your reasoning behind ending it. It is a mixed feeling seeing you guys play a game that I LOVE for lovely choices- because on one hand YOURE PLAYING IT!! But on the other hand, I know you won’t finish it and experience more. I’ve been a fan of yall since high school because you’re so willing to listen to fans and enjoy content the way you want to make it. I think lovely choices was successful, and I can’t wait to see what yall do next in terms of content and our role in that !!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

shaz 'shrimp' mohseni

Was super glad to see you guys play Stray because of Lovely choices. I'd love to suggest Paleo Pines only because Dan would absolutely love it, but this is only me nudging you to have a little look and I don't mind that you guys will no longer be FORCED to play stuff when it isn't your thing. Thanks for everything and I look forward to every new video!

dev!!

fun while it lasted :( i'll miss you lovely choices

Desiree Knox

I would love to know if there are any games from lovely choices that you would consider making into a series. Love all you do!! Thanks!!

Paige Herman

I honestly support this decision. While I’m sad the games I suggested may never get played, I think the vibe of the lovely choices eps was a bit off and the comments of everyone telling the grumps what to play just feel a lil entitled. Some of the best eps come from playing the shittiest games and it’s always nice to see the boys play things they actually care about and like. Love you guys <3

EaselEar

Exactly. I loved lovely choices and thought it was pretty silly how upset it made people. Like, there's only so many games they can play, let alone keep playing!

Emily Lampros

Sadly didn't expect Lovlies Choice to last long enough to see any game I suggested, but I completely understand why. I still hope that one day you guys will play Sam and Max Save the World since you loved Hit the Road!

Gabriel Lopez

I was so excited to see my “votes” on the spinning wheel even when it didnt get picked. I think it would be awesome to get that same kind of feeling from something on the show, which i know can be hard. I think some kind of continued audience interaction like that, even if its just for the patrons, would be awesome!

Ally Dumphy

Signalis. Either here or for ghoul grumps. My roommate is devastated. Please put him out of his misery.

Sladestrife

Totally fair, there were some great choices, but it's better to focus on stuff you guys enjoy.

Blake hutcheson

Hey Arin and Dan I loved this experiment. It was so fun to see so many different games. In the future it might be fun to do a lovely choices poll with a big list of games that have been submitted to see what the top 10-20 games that are deeply desired by the community. The game for me that I’ve been wanting y’all to play for years was fossil fighters and I adored the 40 or so minutes it got. I know Dan loves dinosaurs and you guys riffed on the silly dialogue very well. I hope for more episodes of fossil fighters if possible but understand it would take a handful of episodes. I know there’s so many games to play but perhaps some voting or fun bracket style battles could get you and us pumped for new stuff. Love you guys! 💜

Ian

YES. Nightreign would be awesome.

Randi Barnes

I appreciate the fact that y’all are willing to try new ideas like lovely choices. I totally understand why it wasn’t working out and appreciate that you took the time to explain your thoughts on why it is ending.

Nathen

This was so cute ❤️ thank you guys for trying, it was a good experience and I understand your decision

MikesterMF

Totally get this from a business stand point. And im glad you tried it, and it was such a great idea for something to give back to the fans. Would love to see you guys continue Disco Elyisum as that felt so fitting for your humor and I still go back and watch it. But, I'm sure there are thousands of other lovelies wanting for their game to be continued too. So idk, think about revisiting the games you did for lovely choices if compelled to do so, but I get the idea of ending the project entirely. I personally prefer the longer series, myself, and would give up the one offs for a focus on the long series SHOULD YOU GUYS WANT TO PLAY THOSE GAMES.

Ballhork

That's fair however I still want them to play Weed Shop 3 for Diaper Dan jokes.

Lauren Dautrich

Makes sense! My suggestion made it on the wheel for a bit (Titanic: Adventure Out of Time). I'd give my soul to see yall play it someday! I noticed there were a lot of submissions of popular and good games, but this one has always felt like it had the same chaotic and weird energy of games you guys play. (And who doesn't want to fight nazis on a sinking boat?) Maybe someday! Thanks for all you guys do!

Lacey

Totally understand! I’d much rather you take the suggestions as a general idea of what the fans want you to play rather than just do one episode. But I’ll support the channel regardless

evasglory

I'm glad it wasn't a total failure. If anything it definitely gave the Grumps team a really good insight into what committed viewers want and how to people react to those kinds of videos.

NSSL Creations

Understandable why it’s going away, there are so many games that are hours and hours long that are just not feasible for y’all’s specific episode type. For me personally, none of the games I submitted were selected (also understandably, it was a random wheel) so it was more of a sense of “oh I wonder what *other* fans are interested in right now and should I seek these games out in my free time” based on my pseudo experience through y’all playing it. I am curious to see what y’all bring to the table for Patreon subscribers next though! In a previous post you guys asked for suggestions for more Patreon specific content, but I’ll give a brief answer to that here as well: since YouTube is now implementing AI in guessing people’s ages based on what they watch (and if you are “assigned” a younger age you have to upload your photo ID), a lot of people are avoiding YouTube right now until they reverse this decision. I am one of these people, and would still love to see the lads regularly. Maybe we could have episodes reuploaded here? Or exclusive game series here or exclusive compilations?

FinalPause

Not sure if you’ve done this before but you could always give us a poll of upcoming games that you guys are interested in playing. And that way the community still gets to kind of vote on what we see first! And if you still want to involve more choice maybe you could bring lovely choices back but with an emphasis on short games that would only really be one or two episodes of playtime anyway

BaccaDebacle

One day I'll see Arin scream at the screen while playing inscryption

Chris Folk

Though my choice wasn’t picked, i understand your stance. It was like classic game grumps of people submitting games and you guys running with it. Some of your most memorable moments are from stuff like that. I still want to urge the push for 1, maybe 2 long plays for the weekly basis. I know you’re holding back on some gems to play based on the feedback of the community but don’t be like a triple A company. Throw in those games you don’t normally play regularly. Doom can be hilarious and I’m sure there’s an rts out there that Dan could judge you for. I hope the feedback you got guides your direction for content in the next few months. Love you guys.

Bunni538

I thought Lovely Choices was a pretty cool experiment! Now, it did need some guidelines (as Arin mentioned, some of the game suggestions were games that had very long play times 😬), but it would be nice to see it come back some day, maybe in a way that makes it easier for everyone, including Arin and Dan!

Samantha

I did realize after I submitted my favorite game (Okami) I actually found myself hoping the wheel wouldn't land on it, because I realized you probably would never finish it if you only played a little for Lovely Choices. This makes sense, I'm glad you did it at all. C:

KittyKat

I think that responding to the feedback is totally valid. I do see comments on the subreddit and in other forums where many were disappointed that their favorite games didn’t get the love they expected. I am a little sad, my suggestions didn’t get picked, but I would much rather that the Grumps focus on what is best for the channel. YouTube continues to make it hard for content creators like the grumps to be super successful. I know my support to the Patreon channel is more about supporting the grumps directly for the years of laughs, not so much expecting special content in return. As always. Thank you grumps and grump team for trying something different and I’m certainly still excited to see what comes next!

Emerald Ivory

Aww I'm sad that it's ending but super glad it happened! Looking forward to seeing what happens from now on <3

Ivan

I appreciate the transparency with this.

Micro fin

"To me It was a huge success." ... 15 seconds later... "From this point on we're not doing any more lovely choices." Bruh

Connor Kennedy

No worries I love you guys just sitting down and given our games a chance. Yous go above and beyond for your fans so don't feel like your disappointing use where just happy your here and sharing these wonderful experiences with use.

Samantha Steele

This is sad news but I also totally understand the issues that come with it. Its tough to give your all to a game you're not sure you're ever going to come back to and that makes it hard to ever take it seriously in first place. It was cool seeing the things that everyone submitted on the wheel and I think that still throwing those submissions in as possible games to play later would be great! I appreciate the open message about this and hope you guys just keep having fun because that's what I'm here for at the end of the day ❤️

Sheila Averill

My favorite part was knowing you were playing a game that you knew nothing about 🤣. The other nice thing was giving Indie Games a voice. So many of them are excellent games that no one ever knows exist.

Sarah

Totally understandable, and it was fun while it lasted! :) Mine never made it, but that’s totally fair because they were incredibly niche Hidden Object games that I thought would make great short episodes lol I think polls in the future might be a good idea! Just to mix things up, and also get a feel for what people are most excited for! :)

Burretploof

Pap pap. Operation successful.

Matt Pfaff

Lovely Choices was cool to see new things but my favorite are the long plays so I’m okay with this. Appreciate you trying new things and seeing what works

YvngAC

I loved the idea, it’s very unique and a great way to connect with fans, but I can understand the point that was made, honestly a better idea might be to select a few games that you guys think you or the fans might enjoy and put them in a poll and have people vote on what they want, and if people want more of a longer series that was played, have another vote on what series between some options the fans would want the most and focus more on one at a time or so but idk 🤔

worm conspiracy

makes sense! lots of fans have been a bit... too much with this series, but it was fun!

Livvy Liver

Idk if yall have time for it anymore but I miss the livestreams you guys used to do like you did for Undertale. Even if it’s just for patrons and we can interact with you guys. My biggest want out of this is to have more..I guess not access cause that’s creepy, but more interaction? I know that’s much easier said than done though cause you guys have a decent chunk of peeps here.

Burretploof

It's totally understandable! I still think you should give Chaos Engine a shot, though. 2D co-op shooty-shooty-bang-bang fun! :P

Reid Stein

I've been watching since literally day one of Game Grumps as a longtime fan of Arin and I'm very conflicted about this. On one hand, it's incredibly exciting to see a game pop up that I absolutely love and know y'all will love and watch you play it. At Game Grumps Live, a majority of the questions were always "will you guys play ___" and that was annoying, but understandable. We want to share the things we love with the people we love. I think the format would've worked better with a little bit more work done behind the scenes, as difficult as that can be. Games like Disco Elysium are super cool and incredibly interesting, but not a good choice for the channel in its current format, even though there were obviously a decent number of people who wanted to see it be played. My suggestions for Lovely Choices were always things my wife and I love playing together in small bursts because I understand what works for the channel and what brings y'all joy. These games can't be slow burns with long stories, even if it's an absolutely amazing game. It's why games like Super Bunny Man, Heave Ho, and Stickfight are such classics on the channel. I hope the list y'all kept can be combed through at some point to find some gems. More than anything, I hope y'all keep having fun and bringing joy to all of us Lovelies ❤️ Kisses for your dad, Reidabee

Shermy

Thank you Arin and the rest of the Game Grumps team for being so transparent and open to your fans. I liked the idea behind Lovely Choices but ended up not suggesting my choice for the same reasons you shared in this video. I still think it was incredibly nice of you to be willing to listen to your fans, even if you didn't think the videos would do well. I unfortunately just don't think this kind of format can exist for your channel but I'm sure there are other ways to achieve similar levels of connection with us. With all that said, anyone on this Patreon that subscribed for only Lovely Choices and nothing else, please explore the bonus content this place has to offer and try not to let it get you down. I'm sure the Grumps are doing what they feel is best for us as their dedicated fans, so don't worry too much. Plus, Arin would just skip the tutorial when he got to your game anyways

Lynisa Ruiz

As someone who had one of their games chosen (Little Miss Fortune) I enjoyed that fact that you played the game! Did I wish you guys played through the whole game, yes. Did I expect you guys to play through the whole game, no. I understood why, you wanted to give as many games a chance as possible. Maybe down the road have us vote from a curated list what games we want to see you play all the way through (Your weekend uploads) I think something like that would be cool and get us lovelies involved. Sad to see this go, but I understand!

Mitch & Meg

I never put a game on the list but one game I did want to see y'all play and I believe was on the wheel was Lies of P. At the same time I get it, it's an invested game that can take a lot of time, it's a great game. Who knows maybe y'all will play one day. I never say never. Love you guys!

Tegan

thanks for the sincerity arin!! understand it's gotta be hard to balance what people want when so many people want so many different things. i'd love to see you guys give more time to some longer games though i know it's hard to commit when you don't know how it will go over... maybe some patreon-exclusive playthroughs of longer games?

bambii

I really liked the idea but I understand the issues it had. I wonder if there could be like a lovely choices thing where we could vote instead of it being at random? I just feel like some of the games was very clear it wasnt going to be something the grumps would be able to commit to or work for their format, but also there's games that it was fun just to watch them try (DTI and the Yakuza game come to mind and if that Mascot game was a Lovely Choice then also that one). Hopefully there's a nice middle ground solution for the future

Matt Pfaff

I think a poll of a handful of games they’re interested in for patrons to have input on would be a better balance

SentientJess

I get it. It was a cool concept but just didn’t really leave anyone feeling satisfied. I appreciate your ability to recognize when things don’t work and make a tough call.

Kensei the Kitsune

I'm sad to see it end but it was definitely a fun experiment to see! Personally, id love to see more silly classic games that y'all could have fun not taking too seriously (detective Barbie carnival caper, the amazing eggbert) as well as some classics that might bring up some nostalgia (Castlevania lament of innocence comes to mind) All in all, thanks for the experience and I can't wait to see what you guys come up with next

Shawn M

What about doing a Patreon poll to pick games to play? You have the list of games that at least some people want to play. My idea is to have a producer curate the list by weeding out games that are infeasible to play on the show, then group them by time commitment to complete, or if they'd make a good one-off, then give the Patrons 5-10 games to vote on. And you can frame it as "this is planned to be a one-off" or "this is planned to be a series". You may not get the absolutely out-there games like "An Airport for Aliens Currently Run by Dogs", but you'd have a sense of what people want to see next.

Tiberius JK

Disco Elysium popped into my head like four times throughout this. Dropping this was the right call, good job gang.

Peter A. Garcia

My brain says maybe something not super scary like I'm a park ranger/Stairs in the Woods might work with their format but my heart wants Ted the Caver.

Sean Petrick

I really enjoyed these because they were often really unusual choices that you wouldn't maybe pick on your own, but because of that they felt fresh and entertaining. I'm sad to see it go, but it sounds like you recognize that maybe more games will work with your format than you've considered in recent times. Hopefully you still feel like you can do more experiments like those more unusual games. And if this makes you feel like can do more episodes of games you're enjoying and not play games you know you won't, all the better.

CoopTow

Even though they are ending lovely choices this ironically feels feels more for the lovelys then before, thanks

Captain Howdy

It was fun while it lasted, and not wanting to disappoint fans is a genuinely good reason to end the experiment - A lot of games need more than 30-60 minutes to actually get into. I'm sure they'll keep the list of games and get to them at some point.

Chiral

Me reading "We're Ending—" : "AH WHAT OH NO" Me reading the rest: "oh that's alright phew" Thanks for all that ya do gang, keep rocking it <3

Tiberius JK

You can do something successfully and then choose to stop doing it; E.G. yer mum.

Ebbie

So for me, Lovely Choices was more of a "codified" way to give a suggestion and hope for it to be heard instead of being caught into the general wave of suggestions throw at GG. The one and only game I suggested isn't even long, it's just not on anyone's radar where the chance of yall finding it is very slim. I think there should still be a way for patreons to have a form or space or wtv to get a more "direct line" of communication to give game suggestions. That's what I would want to keep from this format experiment. It was the deciding factor for me to get a patreon subscription.

EthanBlue

I love that you all gave this a shot, and the reasoning to cancel makes a lot of sense. I'm really glad to hear that you see it all as a success and were able to learn a lot from it! Here's hoping that it'll help you all find content that can work on the channel, chemistry and view wise, as well as among your fans. You're all trying new things and it's great to see you grow! Thank you so much for your transparency, I'm excited to keep watching all that you do

Aya Golender

I liked the idea but I agree. Every time you played a game it felt like a bummer knowing that you’re not gonna finish it. And I very much enjoy the long haul of the weekend eps to fill in that that story game vibes.

Tyler Reitan

Damn I really enjoyed the lovely choices. It was a really cool interactive part of this community and I’m sad to see it go

Persephone S.

I think that this makes sense. I watched a couple lovely choices, but a lot of the time I didn’t because I figured it would be a one off that really deserved a lot more than that. Which isn’t to say that I don’t like random one offs, I do and I’m sure I will watch these eventually, but still. So I’m sure that people will be disappointed, but I feel like it makes sense. Sorry for being part of the problem Lovely Choice fans lmao

Roux Bedrosian

Arin, you're a great leader. I appreciate how honest you are with your audience about realistic expectations for such silly content. Thanks for the consideration and update <3

Rat Boy

I loved it. Rle cool idea. Respect the decision w/ everything u said tho video game boi. Would still love to see youse play date everything coz u date everything innit 😘😘🫶🫶

Miyoza4

We appreciate everything you and the team do, and ultimately want you all to be happy. It was a nice experience and I thank you for giving us a chance to show our favorites c:

Donovan M

It's disappointing to see lovely choices disappear but I suppose it's just going to take a less obvious form. Excited to see the fruits of what we learned with this experiment though!

Moo

The format itself was never really optimal for the long series people expected to see, I think the Lovely Choices format really suits best with those shorter games or some that could use some extra attention to be discovered in a sea of well known big names, like older/less popular/indie gems and whatnot, as opposed to full on well known games that are no doubt of their knowledge by now that people really want them to experience but never happen for some reason. It can be disappointing to learn that the chosen game will not become a full series, but imo this was to be expected from the way this format was introduced. Its nice they gave the community a chance to ask for something and give even if just a little crumb in return, but the expectations of said community are already hard to meet when there’s so many people wanting to see so many different games in so many different circumstances. Sometimes having a taste of it is enough (I will forever hold onto the feeling that Arin would love ZeroRanger especially after seeing him excitedly playing the little arcade mini game in Stonks, and hold on to the hope that he’ll experience it one day even if just to give it a quick try) but people love long fun series, myself included, so its understandable that their hopes were a bit crushed when not seeing a continuation of Fossil Fighters, as an example. The end of Lovely Choices is bittersweet, some games with very few recommendations might never have their chance to shine because of this and its quite sad, but I agree that it may not be worth it to continue after things didn’t go as planned.

JutterNutter

Saw that coming. I love y'all but it was doomed from the start. The original form even asked if you were suggesting a longer playthrough and whom would play it, and those were never delivered upon. If the issue was figuring out what would go on the wheel, I feel like there were better solutions such as getting a curator, rather than ending the program altogether. Just seems counterintuitive imo. I'm not mad, just disappointed. ❤️‍🩹🫵

Dying Leviathan

Thank you for being transparent and honest. Thanks for trying something new and listening and trying to branch out for us. I personally love when you guys play co op stuff just because you guys are so full of beans. I'm a long time GG fan so I take it all in whatever form you give us. Looking forward to what's next! Happy to be a supporter!!

worldlinealpha

Thanks for trying it Arin!! I totally understand the issues it had. What I did notice was that there were so many indie games on the list, and that was really cool to see that so many Lovelies (myself included) want to see those games from smaller teams!

Tristan Shaepe

Unfortunate but understandable. I also think a similar idea using polls would be a great alternative.

Extormus

I do think they way lovely choices was formatted had some drawbacks, and with the large pool of suggested games many people would always be disapppointed their's didn't get picked. I think giving the Patrons some kind of influence on the games you play would be good -- like letting us vote on which of X games to play, but that you guys decide the list.

Coolpak

That’s the right call I think. Focus on the games y’all want to play.

Justin Reed

Honestly, Lovely Choices was a great idea in theory. The results came back with us seeing a bunch of games that, I for one, either wasn't expecting to see or didn't know about myself. Some worked and some didn't for how the show normally felt. I feel like it was a nice preview of what a Game Grumps Grab Bag would feel if you guys just shoved the Steam library in a hat and pulled out one at random. The downside was all the people who might have been upset that they didn't see their suggestions played. I saw plenty of comments saying they'd submitted a suggestion at the beginning of the segments conception and never saw it on the list. Regardless of knowing there was so many suggestions and not all of them were on one wheel to spin, people got disappointed. Can't please them all, but when you open the floor for a dialogue like that, someone's bound to feel ignored. I think it was a great idea, and at least now with whatever left over suggestions, you guys can find a way to maybe sift thru them and find something different/new to look at when in between dedicated long plays.

Olivia G Callen

Aw man. That's ok, I get it. Maybe instead of lovely choices, you guys do polls on YouTube? Like you all choose a few games, all of which you would be fine with playing, and then we vote and the winner gets played?

unbeweevilble

I'll miss Lovely Choices for sure - I actually ended up buying a couple of games for myself after watching you guys play them for this series - but it makes perfect sense not to keep going with it given the various issues. I think Lovely Choices had a great run, I immensely enjoyed seeing y'all dip your toes into games that you otherwise probably wouldn't have picked or that wouldn't have worked for a longer playthrough (Disco Elysium is a fav of mine, I've watched your episode of it like three or four times). I'd love to see some other version of this concept in the future if you figure out a better structure for it, but as it is I think this was probably a good call, sad to say - people's frustration with their games not being continued or picked on the wheel probably would've worsened over time, so perhaps this is for the best. Thanks for the transparency on this, loved it while it lasted, look forward to seeing whatever you do next!

JutterNutter

My biggest suggestion would be to maybe use a wheel when trying to find a new long series in particular. Because anything on the wheel would've been better than Limbo of the Lost, my god what an awful game lmao

Sleepingirl

Thanks for telling us! I think if I had one thing to say, it's that we really, really love watching you and Dan enjoy something. I know you are probably seeing this feedback on the recent Stonks series, but more than anything else, if you guys are having fun, it's gold to us as fans, and I hope you feel confident that if you want to follow a whim and play a game longer because you're enjoying it, you really should. This is the main appeal of the show for us fans! I love Game Grumps so much and have been watching for nearly a decade now, and I'm happy to be here through whatever experiments you try.

Bigboi96

Play some more Mario party 3! That game has a ton of secrets!

Mouse!

Lovely Choices was so super fun and I'm glad it happened! I hope you guys enjoyed the games you did play through Lovely Choices, because all that matters at the end of the day is that you guys are having fun! People watch GG for Arin and Dan, not for the games specifically :]]]

Carl Yazbek

Patreon is a bit clunky, you ever thought about uploading the patreon videos to YouTube for YouTube members?

ArtsyKnight

I liked lovely choices because it felt like a unique format of experiencing games. There was no direct choice in what game was going to be played. The format challenged Arin and Dan to leave their comfortable game choices to see what other games have to offer. I like the concept of being completely unfamiliar with a game and it’s genre but playing anyway. I like how Lovely Choices felt connected to the community. I like games where it’s allows flow of conversation. I like series because it usually makes room for conversation as the series progresses and the game is more familiar. Hope this is helpful and constructive!

Naburnyurd

Oh that bums me out but that's life I guess.

Caitlin Theroux

Please do as many episodes of that recent Golf Game as you want. I fuckin love those

Insane Ian

I can't say I'm surprised, but I also can't say I'm not disappointed. I looked forward to it every week (partially because I was hoping one of my choices would get picked...which sadly never did) and to hear that it's ending is bittersweet, yet also understandable. Here's hoping you still use the form for games to try and give the shoutouts to the Lovelies for suggesting something new and (hopefully) fun later on down the line.

Jon G

So my perspective as a Game Grumps completionist: I didn't actually vote in lovely choices, but I did think it was a nice way to inject some randomness/variety into the game line up. It makes sense that people would get disappointed when you don't continue on with a game they like though. For me, I think the answer is I don't know what kind of games I like to see on GG. Or rather, I don't know exactly what will hit just right so I try everything? I *love* some Dan & Arin silly voices (Zeldas, narrative heavy games, etc), but sometimes those are better than others and it can be hard if they hit a lull 30 episodes in or what not. I love a one off or short series too. It's always cool to experience a shorter (or occasionally longer) game in its entirety through GG. But I think it's hard to tell ahead of time. There are games I would like, and games I think would be good on GG, but I think the venn diagram between those and great GG episodes is unpredictable and wonky at best. I think a healthy mix of everything works best. Slowly make your way through Top Model and dip into Deltarune and occasionally run a classic like Rygar (laughed so hard at that), and that's what makes it Game Grumps for me.

Mehgan VanderGuilt Priestly.

It was something interesting to try and it was definitely fun to see the unique games being played to come from it. I highly enjoyed 🩷

Micro fin

Please don't get so worked up over me quoting the video.

Art of Rennie

It was a fun experiment. You guys played some interesting games that you may have otherwise missed out on experiencing. And you gave it your best shot, but if it doesn’t work…this is why trial and error exists. I really enjoyed it while it lasted. Look forward to new ideas.

David Jalbert

It's understandable, and I'm still grateful for all the games you tried out. With that said, I really really really would love to see you play through the Frog Detective games and finish them all. It's your call, but it was a blast watching you play the first one halfway through, and they're very short games so it's not a huge time investment, so I'd be so grateful if you considered it <3

KhameCat

I definitely echo the sentiment that the best episodes are the ones where y'all are engaged and clearly having fun. Often that is with games that are completely out of left field, or speak to some niche interest or nostalgia that one or both of you have. That said, thanks for giving the format a try. Having my own suggestions added to the wheel (though I can't imagine I was the only one to suggest that game) was gratifying in its own way, but so too was it awkward. I referred to the wheel spin post last night as "my bi-weekly disappointment time". It was tongue in cheek mostly, but it does sting a bit to see your choice lose. Even worse when the wheel used for a given spin doesn't even have your game on it. Glad that y'all are being honest about moving in a direction that will probably be better for everyone in the end. Selfishly, I hope that you will still consider Slay the Princess, as your visual novel playthroughs are some of my favorites, and it's much, *much* shorter than most VNs. Regardless y'all are fantastic and I look forward to whatever you try out next.

Seiffer55

I think that ending this is probably a wise decision tbh. By the time you get to the games suggested, it doesn't super fit with analytics and trends that are necessary to follow when making a healthy YouTube channel. Maybe with an audience that is SIGNIFICANTLY smaller than yours, this would be viable. I personally appreciate the fact that you were willing to engage the community in that way but it was just a bit too... Needy? Not in a negative way, just in a "this has to be babysat" kind of way. I think that the goal of your channel isn't to have the negativity of "oh they're never gonna play that again..." and that's just not what you were trying to do. People were putting their favorite games in the channel, you can still visit some of them, but our favorites are subjective. Maybe a way to approach this would be from a voting standpoint to drive engagement instead of randomized. Put out a poll of 10ish games the lovies suggest, the most voted for gets at least an episode or two. Based off the analytics for those one or two videos, The Grumps can decided if they continue or not, but that way your audience still feels the validation of "They played something we suggested!". Another approach could be from a fundraising for charity standpoint. Again, put out a list of 10-20 games that may take 5-6 hours (or a work day) to finish, have a vote, and then do a charity stream. Long story short, thank you for including us in your decisions and for at least saying something. A lot of people wouldn't even TRY this.

Wolfsbane 123

That is disappointing but your reasoning is understandable. You really cant please everyone.

John Robinson

Audience participation is a huge pull. Everyone wants a moment in a Grumps episode that they can say they helped make happen. You get to say something like "yeah, I'm in episode 12 of their Farts of Vigor playthrough" or "my episode is the one where they played Dingus 2" But yeah, it felt bittersweet when a game I really liked got a Lovely Choices episode. It was cool to see your initial reactions to the game, but I also knew it was probably not becoming a longer series. Some of those games need more time to cook.

Chris Rasmussen

I appreciate the behind-the-scenes stuff, I'm always interested in how you guys choose certain things. I personally like the idea of you guys playing those longer games, even if you don't finish them. I can understand why people might be upset you didn't finish their favorite game, but I've always watched the show for you guys, and not the game you're playing. I would still like to see you guys play some "unconventional" games that don't necessarily fit the format. I honestly don't even notice when you don't finish a game because there's usually different games in between those episodes anyway, so there's never nothing to watch.

Abby Flynn

I haven't watched a lot of the Lovely Choices mostly because I'm super behind (and slowly catching) up, but it was a really cool idea and, like life, it doesn't always work out. I can see why this should work, especially with Fan Fiction Storytime being a similar set up. I've noticed that the games you guys play are the niche games that are weird or are games where you can just have fun with it when compared to the more indie/popular (which is an oxymoron, I know) games. The long form games like Mario, Zelda, and Sonic are great series and hilarious, but the random games are where a lot of the fun comes from too. Game Grumps for so long has been one of my all time favorite channels and is always good for a laugh even on the hardest days. I watched one of your Fanfiction Storytimes recently and laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes, which was so needed since it was a really hard time in my life. Someone in the comments here (@YvngAC) suggested doing a poll and having the fans choose based on a few that you guys pick out and I think that's a great idea. I think the biggest thing the fans want is fan interaction. Whether it's our choices of games or fan fiction, just a way to have our voices heard. I think what you guys do is great and it brings so many people joy (and half-hearted mild frustration at times from not reading tutorials or going through areas quickly) and I can't wait to see what you (everyone at the Game Grumps office, especially all the the behind the scenes crew, The Grumps crew, the Patreon crew, etc.) have in store for the fans in the future! You all clearly put your all into everything you do for our enjoyment and it's so awesome! That's such a rare thing to see these days from artists and content creators, so it makes us all really happy to see that you guys still clearly love doing it and actually care about the fans.

Megan Maginnis

Aw, I'm going to miss Lovely Choices. My games sadly weren't picked, but I did enjoy watching the little samplers that we got. It was fun getting to see more unique games (although I would love it if you guys finished Little Misfortune. It's such a good game.)

Beth Soulsby

there goes my chances to see one of my silly girly games get chosen! (hello kitty island adventure & infinity Nikki, I saw them on the wheel!) completely understand the decision arin it was a really fun experiment and look forward to what will be next ❤️

Voldemoriarty

I appreciate the transparency and it makes total sense from pretty much every stand point. Kind of a no win situation. Longer game gets short changed due to format. Other games not getting picked could lead to disappointment or frustration. I'm sure both of those things alone feel terrible. Maybe Grumpy choices? Games that your team submit for you to play so it's a little more vetted? I think the chance part of it was fun but maybe a list that is more focused on making a good episode would be better?

Matt C

I'll be sad to see them go, because I honestly loved lovely choices and looked forward to those episodes. I get that they are gonna be really hit or miss by nature, there's a ton of games on that wheel that really don't seem suited to GG, but there's also a lot there I hope you do end up trying for the show.

Morsesnox

Thank you for being upfront and open for your reasons for cancelling this format. Your reasoning is sound and I appreciate you taking the time to make this video explaining the makers point of view. Thank you for giving it a try and thank you for showing me a few games I had never heard about through this series.

Sarahmonster

Lovely Choices always seemed like an experiment to me. It was great to see y'all interact with games you may not have picked yourselves , (ex: Frog Detective was *chef's kiss*). I can see how it would be an unsustainable format in the long term, though. Lot's of fun, too much chaos

JayMoe

While I am a bit sad my choices may never get played on the channel, I understand this choice completely. I will still watch the daily uploads and show my support through my patron sub and occasional merch purchases, because at the end of the day the grumps and co. make my day that much better with their work. In the end, I dont really care what game the goofs are had in, just that these boys can keep sharing them with us lovelies.

Anthony J. Turco

I think this is, paradoxically, a really awesome choice. I totally get where you're coming from. Disco Elysium was awesome, but bittersweet, for exactly the reasons you describe. I appreciate you deciding that "bittersweet" wasn't good enough, and always wanting to improve. Thanks!

Kuzco's Poison

FWiW had something I suggested gotten picked I never would have expected you to play the whole game. I always assumed these were one offs unless you fell madly in love with something. Keep being awesome, if you're looking for non comment feedback never be afraid to post a poll.

Gregawut

I agree with this decision. The reality is that you can't please everyone and you can't play every game, especially to completion. I think this was a worthwhile shot and experiment to undertake and I'm really happy you guys got a lot of good out of it. I'm bummed that my game never ended up on the wheel or got played, but I was really excited and happy when Disco Elysium was played. While it was a little bittersweet that they wouldn't play the whole game, there were truly some great moments in just that single episode that made the whole thing worth it to me. I think there was some awkwardness depending on the game that was picked though. Sometimes the game didn't entirely vibe with you guys so it could feel a little forced to play or enjoy the game. You saw each game for its merit and that it was enjoyed by a Patreon member, so I appreciate the diplomacy in it, but that doesn't always make for the best episodes. It feels especially difficult to find a game to play now, where you want to play it, the audience enjoys it, and it doesn't take so long that those who don't enjoy it drop off. I commend you guys always for trying to strike that balance, even if I'd prefer longer series. I do hope you guys take a look at the suggestions every once in awhile and look into what sounds interesting!

V

hey, no worries! sometimes things work, sometimes they don't. imo, i feel a problem with it is that some of the games suggested aren't great for the format of a let's play. like, for example, fossil fighters. love the game so much, played it all the time as a kid, but it's hard to do commentary over it when there's not a whole lot to do and there's so much storyline to read in between it all. i do think a lot of people chose games based on personal preference, instead of games that they liked that would also work on the show. either way, it was interesting to see some different stuff. i only ever submit one game, monster madness: battle for suburbia, specifically because i think it would work within a one-shot format that doesn't require a commitment. and it's multiplayer, so you both could play it! good luck to y'all, hope to see some fun stuff <3

Sven

Ah, totally understand it! It was really fun while it lasted. It was cool to be able to pick a game ya'll would play. It reminded me of the days we used to send games to you to try! Maybe in the future the patreon could vote on a one off game of ya'lls choice? You all choose three games and then the patreon chooses one from those three?

Lindsey H

I have no real opinion one way or the other over Lovely Choices ending. I liked the concept when it started, and it’s fine with me that it’s over. I never submitted anything, because there’s not really any specific games I have a huge desire to see the guys play. I think my biggest thing is that I enjoy the episodes the most when it’s obvious the Arin and Dan are having a blast. Whether they’re legit engaged with the story, or they’re just using the game as a jumping point for some hilarious banter, the videos I go back to the most are the ones where they are clearly enjoying themselves. Things like Supermarket Simulator (RIP), Horse Club Adventures, etc. It becomes less enjoyable when they clearly aren’t having as much fun and are only playing something through just to finish it (like Phoenix Wright. I love those play throughs, but toward the end there is definitely some fatigue from them as players and me as a viewer). I do admit I would like to see Arin and Dan finish some games. Something like Little Misfortune, that blueprint game, or RAD. I’d really like to see some of those through, especially when Dan has said he’s invested in the story. And speaking of one-off’s- more episodes of things like chess, Mario party, wheel of fortune, backgammon, golf games, etc are always hits for me. The guys seem to really enjoy those, and that makes it massively enjoyable for me.

Naj

I like that this is announced in the same week that I finally submit a game suggestion 😂 oh well, I absolutely understand the reasoning. Especially seeing some of what was suggested on the wheel that really weren't fit for a GG episode. I think it'd be nice if there was some way to still suggest things but I don't know how to do so without people getting their hopes up.

Mah Cousin

I understand where you guys are coming from after watching the video. Thanks Arin and team for giving it a chance. I’d love to watch you guys play fear and hunger and fear and hunger 2. I think that’d really bring in a wider audience to see you boys react to that world. I signed up for the patreon because I thought that by doing so and submitting my suggestion for those games that one day that one of them would be played. But because lovely choices isn’t a thing anymore, I’ll be unsubscribing from the Patreon. I still wish you boys the best and will be watching regularly on your YouTube channel. That frog horror episode recently was really fun to watch! Anyways, I’ll always be a fan but for now I’ll be hitting the old dusty trail.

Miss Chriss

NGL, I am disappointed. I’d just submitted a game hoping to surprise my cousin, because he has no idea I submitted one he wants to see, but at the same time I get it. It’s gotta suck to disappoint fans who want more than one or two episodes/fans whose games haven’t come up, and you probably got an overwhelming amount of submissions.

Kay

Although I fully understand why it can’t continue, I do hope some of those games will eventually be played through fully(ish). Disco Elysium was one of the first choices I saw and I was immediately hooked. Thank you for being transparent about it ❤️

Crystal Roach

I totally agree with this decision and also still think you guys should play kirby air ride ahead of the new remake since its a perfect 1-off game!

April

I could kind of take it or leave it when it came to lovely choices. Of course I submitted my own game, and it is nice to see you guys branch out and try things that maybe you wouldn't otherwise. But overall I just like watching the videos most when you guys are enjoying what you're doing, and you know what you like more than anyone.

The Gaming Arcana

I understand what Arin was saying. I would say I am sad and disappointed that Lovely Choices will no longer be a thing, but in all honesty, I kind of expected it to end at some point. It didn't help that I had not seen any of my submissions on that wheel at all in the duration of its lifespan. That said, I am not planning to give up on the Game Grumps and I do hope that someday they will give those suggestions of mine a try. Happy gaming to Arin and Dan 🤗

Pnut

It was a good experiment! I saw a few games in the suggestions that I know I'd love to see you play and I still stand by that, despite it maybe not doing so well on the channel, you have to introduce Dan to Rhythm Heaven. I don't mind if you do some Patreon only games where you feel like if it won't do so great on the channel you can use us as test screening. We're already here, we'll watch, and it may become a draw for others to join us over here who want to see the games you feel lack the commentary needed to succeed. I'm glad you'll still look at the list for ideas though.

Julie Williams

Totally understand this decision. Glad you all were able to learn things about us viewers and the channel. Love you guys so much! (Still think y'all should play an episode or two of Paleo Pines because it's a cute farming sim with dinosaurs. )

Sandie Sandholm

I long for more Ace Attorney. That's all. Love you either way ❤️

Kristin Bussard

I love that ya’ll gave it a shot! It’s great to approach it as an experiment. It’s a cool way to tap into social listening and give your audience a vibe check. Also been LOVING the Stonks playthrough 🤣 the best games/series are the ones where you and Dan are having the most fun.

Zy Jerasca

I support this decision. I knew there was a tiny chance thr game I was hoping you would play, Sakura Wars, since it has basically everything you guys love and so many anime tropes, im not disappointed at all. You guys are busy, playing a game that you guys aren't into or isnt getting views, isnt sustainable for the channel. I still love you guys and the positivity you guys bring to the content creator space. Please keep being positive and making us laugh is all I ask for.

DMAN

This is obviously to make room for a full play-through of Disco Elysium

Jesse Morrison

I’m glad you guys are ending it for the exact reasons you said. A better way might be doing a Patreon exclusive series where you guys try longer games with no pressure on a stream or pre recorded and if they work then either cut it down into an episode 1 or start over for a series. That way you can gauge your interest and the members interest before committing to a full series and you have more exclusive content to promote the Patreon.

Spoonyspine

I lowkey. Completely understand this reasoning! I’m a new viewer and sorta. Had the same feels with it came to this series where I would be bummed when you guys didn’t finish the game THOUGH I’m happy that led to you guys listening to your audience more! The series was still great in my opinion but understand why on stopping it. I am shaking my fist in the air after putting Date Everything in the form, but that’s okay!

Fuko

bruh your forearms are as thick as your head

GeistFire

I understand this decision and I appreciate you being so straightforward and forthcoming with it. I'll miss the lovely choices because I really did like it as a way of fans choosing what's on the show directly. I know that we have an effect just by watching, there's no better example of this than super market simulator, but something about the directness of the fans suggesting something and you guys playing it because it was suggested felt good. I don't remember if I even suggested a game but there have been lovely choices that I really was surprised by but loved seeing like Fossil Fighters. I would hope that instead of fully ending the series there would be some way to pivot it so it focuses either on games that don't require a full series, or allowing us to pick what the next series is. I think a voting system of games that you guys have chosen to be reasonable for your schedule would feel similarly good. I do appreciate that you have learned more about the show from this series and if it never gets replaced at least it will have left its mark.

Amber P

What if you made Lovely Choices episodes patreon exclusive videos? I mean, we are the ones who suggested the games and I'm sure most of us would still watch the videos here.

KitKat

sad to see this go but i completely understand the decision. i think in its place polls would be nice - you take a number of suggestions that were submitted from the forms (maybe once a month? every two weeks like this was? idk) and leave it to us to vote on what gets played. maybe do different themed polls too - sometimes it's indie games, sometimes it's a poll for games that would be a long playthrough because they are more story based, sometimes it's a poll for games people want to see finished (my suggestion was for Zelda's Adventure, can you tell how long i've been a fan lol). the viewer participation is the main appeal of lovely choices to me. either way i look forward to what's next :)

Calyn Jackson

Cool of you to try out this system! I think a lot of people miss the old GG format of long playthroughs since GG lends itself so well to a podcast-y type experience on YouTube, but with the algorithm changes, I understand why it’s not feasible to keep the long series anymore, especially if you and Dan aren’t crazy about what you’re playing. I felt really bad that you got so much pressure to finish Danganronpa when you weren’t enjoying it. Love you guys, I hope you find a system that lets you play what you love that makes sense for the channel!

Mykayla Harris

I respect your choice and encourage the consideration of polling the audience a few times a year for some longer playthroughs to choose from. The participation and inclusion would be good for the channel in my opinion.

CannedEli151

I'm not gonna lie and say I didn't see this coming, and am not a little disappointed, but I totally understand and after hearing your reasoning, I understand. Sometimes things just don't work out and that's okay! No one should be pressured to do things that don't fit well. Thanks for the update Arin! I hope you guys play OMORI for a small bit maybe for Ghoul Grumps :)

Alixe

I def miss long series, but I get that it might not be feasible. Appreciate the honesty. And I want to back everyone up who said they’d watch a full disco elysium playthru, altho…again, that’d b a long series lol

SmyliPhox

The real reason they're stopping lovely choices: overwhelming requests for naughty games lol. Anyway, it was fun while it lasted! Love y'all and your dads!

Ryan von Rosenberg

Use Patreon for long play series that YouTube wouldn't have the attention span for. Danny's always asked if you could play Final Fantasy 7 on the show when its come up, for example. The original has all of those translation issues and oddities so you'd probably have a great time with that. The issue is the gameplay in between. Or, games with super long cutscenes. You could run the Metal Gear Solid series, for example. Or Death Stranding. Or more games like running through Disco Elysium or Citizen Sleeper.

Maddibearxx

I’m sad to see it go but I completely understand where you guys are coming from. I appreciate the honesty! I am so happy that you guys were open to the lovely’s suggestions. I do understand that this series is difficult for everyone to be happy with the outcome of the episodes. I know there were a few games that I wish you guys had played more episodes of but I also understood that you guys weren’t going to finish the games either. I am glad that you guys took the lovely’s thoughts and feelings into account when making the decision to end it. I think it was the right choice!☺️

Céadhla Newman

I appreciate the effort of explaining this and appreciate the honesty!!! Thanks Arin!

PseudoSamurai

I never made a submission choice because I was too nervous. I had a lot of ideas but many would fall under a 'long-term commitment' umbrella and others that were shorter required a bit more engagement to understand the mechanics. It taught me a few things. To be much more mindful. To know that sometimes there are games that don't fit well with your format. And that's fine. And that if one of the complicated games that I've played and completed was picked, that I know I would've been frustrated watching if you played and couldn't get into it due to difficulty, complexity or just if it wasn't vibing with your format. Watching the lovely choices was definitely a hit or miss but glad to see it was fun!

Joshua Sharpe

Dang I really wanted them to play Digimon Rumble Arena 2…

Chloe

Please play Date Everything! The meme content is strong with this one

Sky Knight

Pfft. That caught me off guard, ngl. 😂

Zamy

My thought as someone who is a super oldie grumps fan but a relatively new patreon subscriber, I understand I don't speak for the entire fanbase, but I immediately knew you guys wouldn't really be able to commit to super extremely long games like say Yakuza or Persona if they were suggested. I'm glad you were able to figure out something like with the Yakuza Mini-games episode though, and hopefully the people who suggested games like that could understand not being able to commit to 150+ episodes of one game you or the majority of the audience weren't 100% into. The part I did like a lot about the lovely choices framework though was when a neat indie game got selected, it was relatively short, you guys seemed to have fun and the comments I read asked for you guys to finish it. Those were the situations where I wish maybe 3 or 4 episodes could be done to get the full experience for the fans who suggested certain games. Appreciate you guys doing this whole thing none the less!

Jal00t

For me personally, Lovely Choices rarely ended up being games I personally want to see. I support this Patreon because I want to give back to you guys since I've been watching you for a decade now and you've helped me and many others through rough times. Regardless, outside of 10 min Power Hour at this moment there aren't many videos I watch any longer. This is likely also because my own interests have changed over time. I feel like I wish you guys would more often jump on the bandwagon of which games are popular in the gaming sphere on Youtube. For example, I've been dying to see you guys play Date Everything but by now this hype might be dying down. I also really miss Bloodborne. That was so peak, lol. This feedback is very biased, I understand this. But I thought I'd just leave a comment behind just incase it COULD be helpful. Games and video formats I personally enjoy are long videos (50min to 1 and a half hours) and long series (but of course only for games I like, lol, so this would be bad if it's a series on a game I've no interest in). I adore the 10 min Power Hour (the only downside being that again, they're way too short). I also love you guys reacting to Sbassbear. I personally love Souls games and triple A studio horror games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Outlast, etc Seeing a return to Dead by Daylight would also be nice Lastly, I enjoy watching you play games together/or against one another like Monopoly, Mario Party, Family Fued, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, etc So that's my 2 cents on it. Wishing you all the best and thank you for listening to us! Can't win 'em all :)

Bryan

It sucks that lovely choices is ending but Iv never been more happy with the choices of games on the main channel. The only thing I might like to see is some Patreon only lets plays.

BlueMoonLuck

This all totally makes sense and honestly kind of what I felt was the ultimate end point of Lovely Choices. There are so many fantastic games that are just longer or just maybe not quite the right vibe. Love that you guys are always growing and adapting though!

Jal00t

Unimportant but it's thanks to you guys that I bought a PS4 back in the day because I fell in love with Bloodborne. I bought the PS4 only for Bloodborne back then and then fell into the Soulsborne rabbit hole (never knew Souls games before that and am now a Souls fanboy).

A. F.

Fan choices was a bad idea imo, as it almost always is and I'm glad to see it go. What I do think is just SO Aron is to make a video like this but not actually properly explain why they're axing it 😂

Bee

I'm currently rewatching everything from the beginning (I haven't gotten very far), and I wanna say... You've grown up so much Arin!!! This was such a professional announcement to everyone and wonderful a description of why you're going forward the way you are. Such a big stwong boy! 🩵🩵🩵 I was excited to finally see a game I recommended on the wheel, and I hope you guys still end up playing it, but I completely understand why the choice is being made. Y'all aren't going to lose my love and support any time soon.

Jenni Locke

So, I have an idea for something to replace Lovely Choices that's about the same amount of commitment from the Grumps. We submit riddles and you fellas try to figure them out. You could do one or two a week, and then give the answers next week before going into the new riddles, that way people have time to figure it out at home. Yall did a few episodes of riddles some years ago and I love those episodes, they're super fun and chill 😁

PunkFalcon

Aw. That's unfortunate. I loved seeing games you guys otherwise wouldn't have played, even if it's only for an episode. I thought it was pretty clear none of them would be long term playthroughs.

Chase Anderson

Makes sense, I feel like it opened up the opportunity for people to submit games that they loved, but many people have no interest in. I did that too so no shame to those people. Personally I would love to see maybe a specified week day dedicated to new and upcoming releases like Borderlands 4 which is releasing soon or Date Everything. Like games that are popular NOW rather than waiting months and THEN playing them. I still love the old games but I feel like viewership shifting is pushing really hard for NEW rather than OLD. Personal thoughts, but you guys do what you think is best, side note I'm coming up on my personal 10 years of watching. Much love to you boys, and give your dad's a kiss from me!

Chelsea Germain

I hope one day they play yiik or date everything

Megan Guldenzoph

I agree with this. And taking polls often will be best so it doesn’t become a catalog of hundreds and hundreds of games. I liked being able to submit something we’d love to see the boys play, and the poll will help make it something popular amongst viewers.

Matthew Bullion

I never saw either of my games even appear on any of the wheels for the entirety of this experiment's run, so I guess this doesn't make a big difference to me.

Kisuette

I loved the idea but can absolutely understand this outcome. It kind of ended lifting people's hopes up, but then even the selected games were mostly doomed to becoming one offs. Still have a tiny hope in my heart that maybe you'll give ENA Dream BBQ a try someday (unless you already did and it didn't work out lol). Minish Cap and now Deltarune were like two of my suggestions already and I'm feeling super spoiled to have them almost right after each other 💖 (Limbo of the Stolen Assets was a hilarious mess too)

Sam Rush

I like this idea a lot!!

TurboShark

PATREON EXCLUSIVE POKEMON PLAYTHROUGH

cici!

Please play ENA Dream BBQ!

Sam Rush

Completely understand and support this decision. I appreciate the transparency and also highlighting the points that people made who were unhappy (such as how because it was only one episode, that can change the vibes so to speak where it’s taken a bit less seriously than if it were a full fledged 40+ long haul playthrough). That was constructive feedback I saw a lot and understand (even though I had no opinion because a lot of the games I had never heard of but watched because of the Grumps). I really like the poll idea I have seen be suggested, which narrows choices to what would be a good fit for Grumps and so there is some say in what is being played from the creator’s pov, while also being stuff that we choose. As a long term fan that has seen Grumps evolve over time, I really liked how this was done even though the best choice was to end it. Thank you for willing to experiment!

Dylan Schmidt

Lovely Choices was a good experiment and I think you could temporarily bring it back in a few years. I think you guys should play Date Everything especially because a lot of your friends are voice actors in it

Baenling

I understand, thanks for the transparency in the video, very much appreciated a shortish explanation. Fwiw, I was one of the people that submitted Disco Elysium (the only game suggestion I submitted) and I was SO delighted to see it played, even for a short time. I really enjoyed those videos, even if it wasn't something the boys stuck with I loved them having fun with what they saw.

Spooter

UFO 50 is the one yall need to play honestly

Namig42

Lovely Choices was definitely neat and I know that a lot of people appreciated being heard, but honestly, I watch Grumps for the Grumps. As long as you two are having a good time, you could be playing the most obscure nonsense and I'd watch it. That's what I've been doing for the last ten years after all. Honestly, the less I know about a game, the more I enjoy watching you guys play it because I have less expectations around it. I've even picked up a few games after watching you guys play them cuz you make it look fun whenever you're enjoying it, like Supermarket Simulator for instance!

Nade

Some general thoughts (I apologize in advance for the word vomit): -I've seen it before in other comments and I agree: having some kind of audience polling - not just for patrons - would be good to continue in some form, even if it's not as frequent as before. It could be about anything from what series you guys should do next, or maybe which one-off or shorter series you both could revisit in the future, or maybe which game you haven't played out of a series like Mario or Sonic that you all should play next. -And on that note, I'd love to see more games come back that you all enjoyed playing! I know the algorithm needs its appeasement and whatnot, and you usually don't know how an episode is going to do before it comes out and that these are filmed sometimes months in advance, but if possible I'd love to see you all revisit and/or make series out of games that you had fun with, especially ones you voiced wanting to see again (like that JP stock broker game that just came out). You all having fun is fun to watch, and besides that kind of energy makes for better episodes overall. This could also include something you wanna revisit, like when you all played Rygar again. -Perhaps you all could look into doing co-op or versus multiplayer games a bit more, if Dan was interested in playing. You guys have been playing a lot of single player games lately, but I think there's lots of good multiplayer games that would fit well for the channel. For larger lobby games you could also include other friends of the show if they'd be down, or if they wanted some people in the company could join, like they did in the Dress to Impress episode. -Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing the long series weekend extended into another day, especially now that lovely choices are done (and I can't imagine that compilations of your old LPs will last forever). -I dunno how you all feel about it, and maybe this is kinda zoomer of me to say... but if you enjoy it I wouldn't mind seeing more reaction content from you all, especially if it's pertinent to the channel. Something like newer fan animations to react to, or maybe highlight of one animator featuring several animations made by them, or compilations of grumps moments of whatever variety sounds interesting (maybe dan rages, part 2 of overconfident moments, whatever sounds fun to react to). -With the animation idea, you could make this more 'engaging' by calling for animators to submit their entries into the compilation. And maybe for some submissions you could go with a certain theme - a game or genre to draw from or some other specific guideline to follow. Perhaps you could even make a sort of 'game' out of the idea of a theme for the boys to figure out - basically you all wouldn't tell them what the theme of the compilation was, and then you'd have the boys guess what it is based on the submitted animations. Or maybe you'd ask the entrants to include something in their animation (an image, meme, character, etc) and they boys have to find it and guess what it is.

Levi Böhme

Personally, I really much rather watch them play games they actually want to play, rather than some randomly chosen game that they half-ass a single episode on. I agree with the whole „sucks if they don‘t finish it anyway“ sentiment - made me never really care to watch Lovely Choices. That said, I am sure they will still check out game suggestions eventually if they fit the show/are actually interested.

Sriracha Knight

Idea for the Patreon: Discord live stream of a game (long form game? Silksong or Pokemom nuzlocke maybe? Doesn’t entirely matter as long as GG thinks it will be popular and get more subs) BUT the stream will become available for free on YT after 1 or 2 months. So if you are willing to pay and support you can watch live and the recording for a few weeks before it goes out on YT. But you are not barring those who can’t afford to support from eventually enjoying the content. Feels like freemium. Please consider!

Levi Böhme

Yea *personally* I’d prefer some long patreon-exclusive playthroughs instead of the fan fictions!

Levi Böhme

Absolutely agree! Personally(!), I would prefer these type of longer playthroughs instead of the fan fictions stuff. Maybe thats just me though! :)

Bakubread

Really valid reasoning honestly, I'll miss it but I can't disagree with the decision to end it.

RobertToast

Well one day I hope to see you guys play Mega man X command mission

seth

This is totally understandable imo. I always saw Lovely Choices as a way to say “Hey we’d never play this game otherwise, and we’ll probably never play it again, but we want you to know we see you suggesting it.” It was a nice way to see, as a long-time fan, that our ideas matter. But tbh I kinda always thought that anyway. I can see how people would be disappointed that their favorite game wasn’t played through completely, especially if they’re new to the channel. But as someone who’s been watching GG for over a decade, it makes sense to me why many games just don’t work (regardless of if the grumps themselves like those games or not) and I appreciate the show’s format for what it is. That’s why my Lovely Choice was Bloons Tower Defense, because although that’s low on my list of favorite games, I thought it would be great for the show. Thank you guys for being transparent and unafraid to switch things up when they aren’t working!

GingerMcBeardson

I for one didn't really care for Lovely Choices, I saw a couple episodes that were interesting but for the most part I would watch half the episode and couldn't get into it. A better format for Lovely Choices might be a poll stating "Which of these 10 games should be our next playthrough?" and that way there would be more control over what gets played. You can decide for sure that you're playing a few games you want to play, then let all of us decide the 5th game that gets part of a recording session. If you guys hate it then you can stop it, if you like it then you can continue.

Ash

Completely understandable, I enjoyed some of the games selected for sure, but there were a couple that didn't land for, like Disco Elysium. On the other hand, there were games like Promise Mascot Agency and Teddy's Haven, that weren't Lovely Choices, that I would have loved to see more of and felt like the Lovely games took the place of offering more of those episodes. I know, at least Promise Mascot, may not have done as well as other games, but maybe one day you guys can go back to it or Teddy's Haven. In all sincerity I just like watching episodes that make y'all happy, like that dope Golf game, Super Video Golf, for GG vs.

Louis Panton

For me what was exciting about lovely choices was a small chance to see if the Grumps could play one of the lesser known, niche games I’ve enjoyed. Knew it was unlikely they’d try it, but was cool that I could say hey, this game exists if you’re interested.

Hellish Fae

Whether or not Lovely Choices stays/goes I’m pretty neutral on, but I will say that the reasoning kinda rubs me the wrong way. It feels like a parent who can’t bear the disappointment of only being able to bring their kid to Disneyland for 1 day instead of 7, so they bring them for no days instead to alleviate their own guilt. I don’t love leaving negative comments and please know that I’m a huge fan of you guys and all that you do <3 I just feel like there’s gotta be a better alternative to cancelling altogether. Hopefully this spins off into something else like you were suggesting :)

Sarah Jayne

It was really hit or miss. I really enjoy a playthrough instead of dipping toes in. Like with unpacking it is a small game and I think Dan would do better to play the arin. Maybe there is a different format for suggested games instead of a wheel.

Justin Rittenhouse

I absolutely LOVED lovely choices, especially seeing you tackle more narrative driven games that I love. Disco Elysium is one of my favorite episodes, and I was always hoping that wheel would land on Night in the Woods. Thanks for the experiment! I hope you manage to play more titles like that, and maybe turn some of them into a long series.

Avorie

This was in fact a super fun experiment! The closure and clarification this video provided is very greatly appreciated :) love you guys so much and thank you for all you do to provide silly content for us to drown out the world with 💓

Andrew Benjamin

I really enjoyed the snippet short taste format but I appreciate your feelings with it

Avorie

Someone suggested a poll to choose from a selection games that you guys provide and I think that’s an excellent way to have the lovelies involved and have that connection while also maintaining a sense of control over how well the videos may perform

ViolentIvy's Dark Heart Brigade

See, I thought of you guys deciding to stay on with a Lovely Choice something like Johnny Carson inviting the comedian to come have a chat with him. 😅

Acedia Jake

Honestly, the whole series was kind of a letdown. I thought we'd get to see you play different and interesting games but it was just kind of boring snippets or random junk. I assumed the series would be to get you to play stuff we've been begging for for years. As someone who's not a fan of fanfiction story time, there seems to be even less reason to be a patreon member now.

Doktor Vem

I understand why it has to be this way and I fully accept it, but I'm still a little sad to see this "series" go, if you can call it that. There were so many games that I saw on that wheel that I'd love to see y'all play. Hopefully you still end up playing them some day

Artufex

I'm sad, but at least I got my suggestions in before it closed! I never saw either of my suggestions in the wheel--as far as I could tell the options never changed--so I wasn't sure if they would ever have a chance, but I enjoyed seeing the games that did make it in. I think if you were to make more lovely choices, it might be better to pick games that are shorter and/or more replayable, like games with stages or minigame collections, run-based games like Hades or PEAK, and indie games which are generally shorter. Games without grand overarching stories and that jump right into the core gameplay loop seem better suited to one-offs. Personally, I like the lovely choices best when you play indie games. There have been a couple LC episodes that got me to buy and play the featured game, like Death's Door.

Max

No problems seeing it go. I love the long series and your silly one offs. Lovely Choices was neither.

Chase Cardiff

Honestly, most of the lovely choices didn't really catch my interest. But it was a fun idea

resplendentreveries

That totally makes sense and I really appreciate the explanation/reasoning. The Lovely Choices eps were always kind of hit or miss for me, I'd honestly rather you fill the spot with either lesser known/indie games or things you two really want to play. I also echo the desire for more 2 person co-op or vs. games! I truly love your willingness to pivot and try new things with the Patreon!

Thomas Stockley

Sad to hear it go, but I get it. I do hope you eventually try Visage. It really is damn fun and I think it would do well, since it’s kinda like P.T. Love you guys.

Ryan von Rosenberg

I'd hate to lose fanfiction, personally. But I'm sure they can find a good balance if they choose to do something like this.

E

I really enjoyed it much as I enjoyed other little things Grumps used to do. More importantly though, I've been here since Dan joined & I just love & want to watch you guys play stuff you enjoy.

CherryAnimates

There’s extra and uncensored 10 minute power hour content! And I get to support the people who have been entertaining me for over a decade! I think personally that’s enough to be a patron for me! :)

Kuratheris

"We would be forced to play" is what made the whole idea feel a little off to me from the beginning. It felt like it would make you guys not enjoy it as much because you're "forced" to play it, or you'd inevitably play something you just don't really like, or you wouldn't take it as seriously as Arin said. If you try something like this again I think you guys should manually pick the suggested games that you think you'd like, or would make for a fun episode, like the old days when you'd pull things off the shelf that looked fun.

HandsomeSassage

I like the balance of having one longer series running on weekends, while the week is filled with other content. That way you can play through the longer games that have been requested and/or you want to play, while also providing content for people not interested in that specific game. Never stop trying out new things to see what works :)

Kristen Shields

I understand, and here’s a possible compromise: do a polling thing like everyone says, or open up a Reddit page or something where people can suggest games they’d like you to play. That way, if people agree or disagree with them they can either upvote or downvote the game suggestion, and the ones that get the most upvotes can be the ones you really look into and consider playing.

KraftyPants

I really enjoyed Lovely Choices, it was an interesting concept and I liked seeing you step outside of the box and play some games you may not have otherwise chosen. I understand the need to form some boundary around it though. With that said...I'd really love to see ya'll play Pode. It's a cute co-op with no tutorial to read/skip, and you can hold hands in the game!

TeaGirl93

I really enjoyed Lovely Choices tbh it was a good way to get games to you (with all the times I do wished you played things longer) but also I enjoyed getting some games in my library from watching yous do an episode. I do hope you guys do something with the list from the wheel! ❤️

KraftyPants

I like the idea of refining it to a in-Patreon poll. "Lovely Choices" could just be "hey which of these games would you most like to see us play?" Either way still love you guys

TotalBob

Lovely choices was a great experiment, and I’m glad there’s been so many benefits from it. I am sad that this likely means I’ll never see them play ‘checkmate showdown’ (or the original helldivers) but looking forward to whatever comes next.

Rinelight

Dang… I’m assuming they didn’t perform as hoped. It’s understandable since this is your livelihoods, you got staff to pay too.

Benjamin Morris

You know, that's fair. Good experiment though.

Abiiiii

This makes sense, although I'm just glad the played dress to impress 🔥👑🕺🗯️I LOVE YALL SO FUCKING MUCH NEVER GO BALD

Tyler Reitan

You should play Sword of the Sea

Braixian Arts

Omg, Arin, I agree with you so much on some of them choices, they were huge commitments. I just chose Rounds cause that would of been good fun for one off or two.

Low Tide City

I loved the idea and Lovely Choices was the tipping point for me becoming a patron. Not seeing my suggestion make it onto the wheel was a bummer, but I am still sad to see it go as there were so many good games on the wheel that I would have liked to have seen played as well.

Lee Mulkins

maybe youtube polls with commonly suggested games would work better algorithm wise

Cazzy Black

I always appreciate the fan engagement, no matter the form or the permanence. Lovely Choices was a great idea but I really love your longer series, personally. I like going on a journey with you guys and reacting with you on any twists or turns. I love the moments of frustration and the moments of pure joy. The jokes that come from it and the memories. There are so many one shots I love but I legitimately have my favourite long series saved and play them daily. Perhaps why I was in the top 0.1% of fans on your channel but also because some of the best moments came from them.

Cazzy Black

Sidenote; why have we not seen Dan play Broken Sword yet?

Mr. Beam's Kiev Holiday

Honestly, as soon as I heard about lovely choice I subscribed to the Patreon immediately. I've been trying to get the Grumps to play Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures for over 10 years lol I even sent in a SNES cartridge back in the Jon days. Still love the show and will always be a fan!

AirWhale1

I just want more multi-part series. I don't even mean behemoths like Dangonronpa, but stuff like the 6 episode Limbo playthrough I really enjoyed. And with certain games, if its not multi-part, I might not be interested. Like I haven't watched the Doom The Dark Ages episode because I'm just assuming its a one off of the first one or two story missions and that doesn't seem that interesting to me.

Kim Colleary (lovely_critter)

I thought it was a really fun idea to do lovely choices it was nice that you guys were taking suggestions from all of us. And at least I finally got mine on the wheel before you closed it. But I also like that this gives you guys a chance to see what we want to see you play or what we think you might like. I hope that in some form you want to continue to hear our feedback about what we would like to see you guys play because we love you guys and I feel like so many of us will only suggest things that we think you would have fun playing. I hope that at some point you'll give a try to those games on the wheel even though you're not doing that anymore I hope it's more of a list of things that you will still want to try. I think personally that Arin would enjoy playing Date Everything. It's such a fun game to play.

Littlemisswusspuss

I quite enjoyed lovely choices and understand the reason for ending it. I ended up becoming a member for lovely choices and the fanfic story times. I was glad and surprised when Turnip boy actually got chosen and was actually hoping Dan would play it. It does have a lot of extra dialogue which can be annoying and time consuming especially for a youtube video but I was honestly sad it only got one episode since it gets so good near the end and is genuinely a fun game that I thought the grumps would enjoy. I wasn’t too upset about the lack of interest in the game but I expected a bit more than just 20 minutes of skipped dialogue and confusion than actually playing the game. If I’m being completely honest, I think I would have just liked an honest reason for not continuing, playing or finishing a game rather than a 20 minute video of halfhearted gameplay. Not sure about others but I understand when others don’t enjoy or play the games I like and just an honest explanation is all that is needed. :)

ThatBrutalGuy

Unrelated: Arin is a great orator, obviously cares about the work he does, and does a fantastic job layout out his thoughts in way that’s honest and uplifting. 15/10, wish more bosses/ people in management roles knew how to do this. Related: I’m obviously biased as a Patreon backer, because I love GG and everything y’all do, so I’m happy to see things come and go as they are created! As long as it’s obvious that Dan/Arin are enjoying themselves, that’s what’s enjoyable— not whatever it is they’re playing. On that note, an artist friend of mine had a really interesting take on polls/ audience suggestions; essentially, when you ask people what they want, you’re pseudo-alienating part of your audience almost immediately— because the ones who don’t get what they wanted/suggested suddenly feel bereft or lose interest, even though all you’re still creating great content. (Brains do be busted like that.) of course feedback is super important, but it’s so hard to balance “asking for input” and “other people (potentially unfairly) making you responsible for the input you receive.” I have absolutely no idea how you find that balance— but hearing that context from my art friend (who has their own art Patreon eheh) was REALLY eye-opening on how double-sided “creator” and “viewer” line can be. Anyways, all that to say is I hope people are understanding cuz yall doin’ the lord’s work making people smile On This Capitalist Hell Hole Of An Earth, so keep it up. (Unrelated side note to Arin or whoever reads Arin’s notes: I’m whole heartedly with you every time you talk about how the road infrastructure of America is busted. It hasn’t been brought it up super often but when you do IT HITS SO GOOD, KEEP FIGHTIN’ THE FIGHT. There was a great podcast called flash forward that did an AMAZING episode on exactly this a few years ago, so would recommend if you’re ever bored, which I’m sure you’re not, because JFC yall work hard lmao)

Allen ML

Um... but... what if that's 60% of why I joined the Patreon? But I do get it. After all, the fanfiction is top notch. Personally, I think lovely choices could continue (not officially, but behind the scenes) with games which are specifically meant as one offs, and long games are just ineligible. That way, you don't have the disappointment factor, but you can find some hidden gems from time to time.

Isaac

Rip omori

Bri

Definitely think a poll system would be great! That of course comes with the side effect of disappointment for people as well though. Maybe start with having people vote on what games they want finished, ones that did well in the episodes they already had that you probably planned on finishing one day? It was like a decade ago but I'm still surprised you guys never finished Nancy Drew and Deadly Premonition, ESPECIALLY Deadly Premonition because I feel like Dan still brings it up so frequently. I figure maybe it was because you think the continuation wont live up to how iconic the episodes youve already released are, but tbh I want to see what happens in those games and I dont wanna watch anyone else play them haha, and I already know how absolutely INSANE Deadly Premonition gets so here's to praying it one day might make a comeback!!

A.D. Dingman

Wait, is this because I suggested “Saloon Simulator” twice?! Because I’m sorry!!! Lol jk no but seriously I understand everything you mentioned in the vid. It was a good run and thank you for taking the time to let us know through this video

Trickster Spirit

(opening video on game grumps patreon) arin: hello it’s arin from game grumps me: 😯

Karine Bélair

I enjoyed seeing an episode or two of a random, obscure game, however I can understand how people would become disappointed or upset over you guys not finishing games. But to me it was just tasters. Well said Arin!

Dronsie

would yall consider doing a once a week/month patron-only series? ik series don’t always perform well on yt but since we’re here that means we’re supporting you directly already and love what you make! series are my fav thing yall do—and like someone else said, 6 episode series > 40 episode series in most cases. so maybe something like that?

Vitas Varnas

Whilst it's sad that you won't be taking game requests from lovelies anymore, I'm hoping you'll at least someday continue playing Boyfriend Dungeon.

Dan Jakobsson

Its been a fun ride. I was one of those who was super bummed that you didnt continue Symphony of the night but at the same time I understand. Theres not much to grump about in a well crafted Metroidvania. Illd watch the hell out of you guys play games for the sole purpose of your own enjoyment. We are here for you guys, not the games, if that makes sense. I really dislike watching visual novels but I love watching "best ofs" because I like your banter and when you giggle your heads off. Suggestions: Pull a game from the shelf and play it, give it 10 minutes, if you vibe you vibe. If you dont pull another game down, dont switch episode just do it again. Cameras rolling. We hang out with you as you look at weird or interesting games based on boxart or happenstance.

RomaRosenthorn

I liked the "it's better than nothing" approach because you're right we just want to see you enjoy our favorite games or games we think you'd like

Tragus

play silent debuggers

Ice Shred

Super Paper Mario please!

SadJuggalo

I agree with this! A poll system would be essentially the same as Lovely Choices. People could suggest a popular game that wouldn't fit the format of the channel but they'd be forced to play due to the popular vote and...well, Arin explained it. Ignoring the poll would defeat the purpose. Anyway, it was a nice experiment. At the end, I think we can all agree that the games we enjoy the most are the ones where the boys are having fun. Some have been weird games that should never work and some have been pretty obvious choices. I'd suggest a plethora of games that I'd love to watch you guys play just because I love those games and representation. But imo, do whatever you want! And thanks for thinking about us. 🫰

Merry Merrymead

It was a fun experiment. It seemed cool to see you play games you might not have thought were for you but you enjoyed. I also think too many people got mad about a taster of the game being played and not the whole thing, which was unrealistic. I reckon you should play what you want to, and maybe do lovely choices maybe one day a month, or when you blank on picking a time-filler episode etc, but with a loud caveat that it is for fun and not with expectations to complete, but some people will always be mad. F*ck them. Play what you want to. You guys having fun or just chatting as friends, is what this should be. I personally love a heartfelt therapy session mixed with stupid fun, that then turns into a Sbassbear song 😂

Cade011

I guess my only issue with the series was that it was only once every two weeks instead of every week.

Millie

I definitely liked the aspect of playing games you wouldn't normally try out because you don't feel like they would fit the show. For sure some don't work, and I think 'just a taste' makes sense. Personally, I always enjoy episodes most when the games are ones y'all are really into. Either as something you're keen to try out, or games you love already and want to play on the show. Part of why I did kind of feel some of the lovely choices fell a bit flat - if the excitement isn't there it's usually noticeable. Definitely a fun experiment though, and I hope you do keep trying out unusual fits that excited you, whether they come from us or from your own interest.

Mitchel Werner

The one take away is you now have a big list of games to reference to when looking for new stuff… and also since there were some longer games there gives them game ideas for long series weekends… and I like the poll idea too but (may have missed this because of so many comments) but I’d say try to have polls where even people not on the patreon could vote on the polls so it’s the whole audience not just patrons

Mitchel Werner

Or another little idea I had… is for long series weekends maybe have a poll for a few options you guys are looking at too… cause I so want to see ya guys get back to phoenix wright… or maybe hopefully Stray… but just a thought

Mitchel Werner

But I also say keeping the submission form up on patreon too is good so we still have a place to suggest things…but polls would be great

Cody Terpstra

I felt the same way at the end of the day honestly. It was fun for the games that lended themselves to 1 or 2 episodes but even as a viewer I was like "getting attached to this playthrough seems like not the move" lol

dudeskeela

When are we getting the Nuzlocke oneshot?

somethingpurple67

PLEASE PLAY UFO50!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you guys will VERY MUCH like it! there are a bunch of games that vary. they all have their own nuances to discover. they're oldschool nintendo style games, and i think airin will DEFINITELY appreciate how the games build on themselves, like a real progression of games, from the same company would! SOME OF THEM ARE 2 PLAYER!

GracefullyAutistic

I really liked the idea of Lovely Choices, I felt like spinning the wheel with a bunch of titles on it that the lovelies suggested was the fairest possible way to do it. I understand that not every title was a success, both for the Grumps, and for the lovelies view count on YouTube, but since the titles were always randomly picked, I expected that to happen. I guess I'm mainly just bummed about my title not getting on the wheel/getting picked, but I know it was kind of a long shot in some ways. The time length of the game I submitted was perfect for something like Lovely Choices, but it's also an old, kinda obscure CD-ROM game that you would likely have to find an emulator that has it in order to play it, and I don't know the chances of that for this title. 🤷 But I think as long as we can still use the submission form for game suggestions, then it's fine.

Desiree Knox

I have another question! 🙋 Are streams being considered again?

Edouard Lorenceau

One thing that I think is pretty disappointing is that it WAS an experiment, and you never said it on the channel. Maybe you did here, I didn't see the original posts because I joined after that. But not saying it was an experiment means now we're pretty disappointed that this "was always potentially temporary" segment is ending. It's fine for you to try stuff with the channel. But it'd be nice if you said (more than once) that it's you "trying out" something.

Arashi500

The candid explanation is appreciated. Unfortunately the thing with the Lovely Choices format is that many of the games a lot of people most want to see you guys play are time sinks. Games where a single 30 minute episode barely gives any runway past the tutorial and set up. To make the format work there would need to be caveats that would significantly narrow down the list of games to ones that would make for good one-offs.

Morgan Mims

One thing I liked about Lovely Choices is that it was visible, tangible proof that something being played on the channel was because of audience input. So it made me want to input my game that I wanted you guys to play in hopes that it would be one of them. I don't mind Lovely Choices itself leaving if we have some other way of knowing that a game was given a try on the channel specifically because the audience requested it.

E.K. Weaver

Thanks for giving it a shot! TBH I'm just here for the tomfoolery and y'all having fun and doing goofs so it's all good. Excited to see where you go from here.

Valargent

Thank you for bringing awesome content <3 life would be harder without the grumps <3

Mastersword48

I personally enjoy the grumps best when they actually enjoy the game theyre playing and not just trudging through a game they don't like just because its high demand. Your smiles are our smiles too!

Bemilaw

I know you don’t read these, but thank you as always for your transparency, honesty and willingness to listen to your fans. Your ability to make genuine human connections and try whatever you can to give us the giggles will keep us around for years to come. Thanks as always for the amazing content. ❤️

fallonnotjimmy

I agree with your judgment. My game didn’t get chosen, but it would have been a time commitment as well. And if you guys went with EVERYONE’S suggestions for long games, the requests would get super backlogged. We gave it a go! Onward!

Rocky

That was odd. I didn't think this needed a big explanation. Like, if you'd said you're ending lovely choices "ok bye" I wouldn't been satisfied with that, because it's your choice lol. But cool, I look forward to the next interesting idea you come up with

BepisBunkley

I loved the Yakuza episode where the crew curated some minigames for you to play. I'd like to see more episodes like that, it was a standout in my opinion! :D

justyouraverageman

Aww, this is a big bummer. I literally just started to get into it... that's honestly my luck lol but it was fun :) there was some pretty great games. I use to see the comments flooded with those play this or play that so it was nice to see somewhere for it to go. I am bummed my game will never go up on there but it's alright :) organ trail got showed and I loved that!

Greet Charpentier

I really liked lovely choices! Sad that it ends, but I get why. I personally saw them as 'tasters', just 1 fun episode maybe 2 or 3 if you guys were really enjoying it. I don't get why people would send in time sinkers for this anyway. The whole point was to just try out stuff, like doing a demo of the game. I liked it because it could lead you to some obscure games you hadn't heard of, or games you otherwise wouldn't have tried. Thank you for this run though! I had fun. As for what next, in the end, the most important thing is that you guys have fun playing. Lots of hugs from a years and years long fan!

Julia

Thanks so much for being real with us, always!

Lollo-hehe

The thing that got me subbed to the patreon was fanfiction story time so if there’s a way to get more of that, I’d be super happy.

Darcy Levy

Do you know why they stopped?

Lizzi Huskey

Sad to see it end. Before you got to bendy and the ink machine.

jellybongus ☆

i wish i would've joined sooner :-( the only game i would've recommended would've needed to be a VERY long series (omori)

Bitbit2k5

I think it's very kind of them to give the explanation because it acknowledges that they pay attention to the disappointment and suggestions of some of the fans.

snazzy

arin you guys are doing great! Thanks for the fun show, looking forward to more great show formats next!

Erotica Fox Comics & Illustrations

I'm bummed out about it, but I totally understand. You guys keep doing what you're doing. On a side note, I think you'd guys enjoy Slay the Princess. It'll freak you guys out, especially Danny 😁

Matt Albano

Hard to hear. I got a pateron membership less than a week ago and submitted my one and only game request. Then I hear we are canceling the lovely choices. I do understand that when your game is picked and it's not played for very long, that would make you feel down, so I understand.

Jonathan King

I'm bummed, but my game suggestion didn't even make the wheel... Which was disappointing until I thought about how you'd have to source it. If I can borrow a solution from Bad Magic Productions, could you have a forum created where game suggestions could be voted on by your patrons? You could set restrictions (or just curb expectations) and also request sourcing. It would increase engagement, decrease sourcing headaches, and give you an idea for what episodes would draw views.

Ella Beske

I really respect Arin and the entire team for being so transparent about this entire situation. As a regular viewer, I really enjoyed lovely choices because we got to witness the grumps try different things, things I hadn't really noticed on the channel before. I am sad to see it go, but I completely understand why. I hope the team continues to find other ways to take viewers feedback for new games and turn that into new content.

Norbert

Nothing but respect for y'all and your transparency with this. As long as the fan fictions don't go anywhere I'll stay subbed (and even then I probably still will lmao). Please consider playing disco Elysium on the channel though 🙏! That wasn't something I realized I needed in my life until watching your lovely choices episode for it. It's always so much fun watching you guys play games where your character is a trainwreck or you roleplay them as one. Of all the lovely choices games, I think that one might be the best fit for a long-term series on the channel.

T-vis

The membership is totally worth it for the fan fiction. Def watch my immortal at least. It's a wild ride! And also welcome friend

Appletea

As long as fanfic story time is here I’m staying it fuels my soul ♪( ´θ`)ノ

Crescent Minor

Well, alright. I don't like losing the wheel, but I guess Arin is right about how I felt when my game would get picked. I felt both ways: I DID really like seeing them play a bit of Disco Elysium, and also, I was kind of sad that I knew it would only be one episode. I'm torn. People who wanted games other than DE probably felt similar.

Larry nofingers

I think having Arin pick 5-10 games for a long series and have Patreon people vote on which one they play would be better. You could pick some old games, new games, and some games they played in the past that they didn’t finish and have people vote on which of those to play, so it’s not such a random list. Also, if you could play Legend of the Mystical Ninja for SNES, that’d be great ☺️

Abe

i really loved the Teddy's Haven episodes and i hope you keep playing that one~ sending good wishes your way guys thanks for the daily content!!!

J Cc

Little Nightmares would be something Dan would love

Kaitlyn Hampton

I would really love to see voices of the void, fran bow, crime scene cleaner, and ape escape. I'm pretty bummed that I finally spent the money to join the patreon so I could suggest voices of the void and it didn't make it on the wheel and then you guys decided to stop lovely choices. I really appreciate the daily content and love the videos, just wish there was some warning beforehand.

AshenSmyth

I don't comment hardly ever, I came here for fanfic storytime and also to get the episodes with all the bad words cause I hate censored content. I will be here as long as that continues. I would enjoy more normal episodes uploaded in all their swearing glory. I very much enjoy anything you guys do longform but I understand obviously time isn't infinite for production and things so you have to be picky about what to put that time towards. That's about all the input I have, thanks for the laughs and smiles in hard times.

Zach Kondos

I've been a fan for a long while, I want you to finish certain games, trauma center lol, but seriously I understand what you mean and where you are coming from. I think the Weekend Long Game, is a great idea to help with that. Dedicate a space and time to a longer game, but still have the week for normal game grumps shenanigans

Bowie

crime scene cleaner would be absolutely perfect for the pair of you, very reminiscent of supermarket sim! very chill stuff :) we love you guys, we're always gonna be here and know that you guys listen to us. thank you for always listening to the people that watch yall, ive been watching since I was in elementary school and Im 20 now! we love you guys so much, can't wait to see what's in store for the future!

The Undertaker and His Pals

I was a fan of the lovely choices and I'm bummed to see it go. It reminded me of when people would send in games for you to play, I've been a long time watcher and was excited to see we could do something similar to that again. I'm sad to see it go but understand why you decided to stop.

Morgan Phillips

I was also a fan of lovely choices, but totally understand the mentality of bringing it to an end. It definitely helped get you guys exposed to games you wouldn't normally have played and I think the show benefited from that. I also understand not wanting to commit to those huge 40+ hour games that you might not be into, and that also just doesn't 100% fit the vibe of Game Grumps from my perspective anyway. There will always be some people upset about anything you do, but that's the internet. Aside from enjoying listening to Arin and Dan just yapping or enjoying a game this show also helps me find new games I want to play, or see games played that I'm on the fence about and help me decide if I want to buy them or not, and lovely choices helped with that as well. Ultimately, I love what you guys do and am excited for whatever comes next.

Petal Dancing

I can't say I'm sad to see lovely choices go, personally. Not just because of games I wanted to see being one-offs, but because Arin takes a while to warm up and engage with every new game he plays, even if he eventually likes it; by the time he starts to have actual fun, the episode is at least half over. Whether games suggested by fans continues or not, I feel like spending even 10-15 minutes with the game before recording would make the final episode turn out better.

Levi M.

Dang I loved lovely choices. Seeing something you'd never play was great

matt morris

I enjoyed the lovely choices, but you guys did hit the nail on the head, it sucked that some of the games I would love to see you guys play only got a small episode. I would much rather see you guys go back to doing large format series again. Some of my favorite content comes from those late night sessions where you are in episode 70 of a series.

matt morris

Another thing to add, I noticed a lot of the games were ones that would take hours to even get started in and see some of the good parts, so it makes sense. Maybe in the future you have a list of games that you guys picked out that we can vote on.

Alexis Beach

Thanks for being honest about this, I really appreciate it. While I did enjoy the lovely choices games I totally understand the baggage surrounding the concept, and it was fun while it lasted!

Alexis Beach

Honestly I would love to see Dan playing more point and click adventure/puzzle games. Puzzle games are my absolute favorite, and I would love to see you guys experience Myst or Riven, or The Room series or something like that. Maybe it could be like Mind Games Monday or something.

Destro

It does make sense that you wouldn't be able to play a very long game, since there are so many suggestions, it's impossible to finish every single game and have room to play your own choices on the channel. I think the way it disappoints someone is that they don't get to see your reactions to some of their favorite parts of the game that could occur much farther in than one episode would cover. Anyway a game I was thinking about suggesting for a while, but never got around to it lol; I would love to see you play FPS Chess on steam, would be great to see Arin maybe having his revenge against Dan in some sort of chess lol.

Destro

I enjoy watching long term series, and maybe it would work if you put together a list of long term games you would be willing to make a series on, and then having the patreon vote on which to make a series on out of that list?

Matt B

I'm down to watch whatever yall do as long as you enjoy it or there's enjoyment in your non enjoyment. I can't stand any danganronpa stuff be it games or fan fiction. gave it more effort than i probably shouldve to try enjoy watching yall deal with that. but i recognize theres a sizeable crowd of fans that love watching you guys interact with that IP.

Lusillya

I would love for you two to continue the Celeste playthrough!

jaide

That's a bit unfortunate, I just joined the patreon to support that series but if it means getting a chance to play the games that click with you that would be worth it!

Lilith0chan

All I wanted but never got was Arin to play Date Everything. He would love it all I wanted. Hopefully one day help play it 😢

thegrinkler

I'm personally very easy to please when it comes to what you guys create and share with us. I watch every episode because you guys are immensely entertaining to me, so I know I'll enjoy it no matter what you play or for how long you play it. Sorry if that's not very helpful feedback, but I just wanted to let you know <3

The Jekyll Town Network (JTN)

Darn. I was hoping lovely choices would get you guys to play a street fighter 2 arcade run. Well it is what it is I guess

NegativeNiki

This was a great answer for people like me with huge hopes you’ll play a game. But I can certainly understand that it wasn’t feasible to continue with the sheer amount of requests coming in. I did think this was a better way to ask for games (for example I asked for a game that you played in the past and wanted you to continue) since you “don’t read the comments.” It does make it a bit of a bummer there isn’t another way to voice it to y’all, BUT with people putting out such consistent content you have to be crazy busy and can’t create time for everyone. Me hopes in da future you’ll think of something better’s for you guys!

Katelyn Zeher

I think this was really well said. I appreciate you taking the time to explain WHY you're stopping as well. Knowing your boundaries with creating content is so important and this was a learning moment for ya'll! Organ Trail playthrough SLAPS by the way. I know that was a Lovelys choice haha.

PillowDragon

Understandable and well explained. Arin and Dan may be content creators but they also have many other things they do beyond that. And foremost, they're regular people with their own lives and families, I'm sure it would be impossible for them to play all the games people ask for.

Carol-Ann Adkins

Thank you for being straight up with this. I really liked the diversity in content that Lovely Choices brought to the channel. Y’all are so much fun to watch regardless- but I def prefer that you get to enjoy what you do. I’m glad this pushed you to try new things and broaden your view of some games. I love longer play throughs, but I think you are doing a great job with the long play weekend/ recurring series (Top Model is always such a welcome surprise!) Keep doing what you’re doing. I’m here for all of it.

Stormyhun

So disappointed. You never picked my game choice not once

shane davis

This is unfortunate. I get it but this was the thing that convinced me to join the patreon. Now that i'm here the fanfiction and stuff is fun for sure. I submitted signalis a few times and i think itd be good for a ghoul grumps game as its not that long, and has a gameplay loop that will feel familiar to classic survival horror. I appreciate the reasons tho too.

bit button

Didn't pay that much attention to lovely choices to be honest! Have tuned into the patreon for extended live action stuff personally :)

sammywhatammy

I’m disappointed but I get it. I think it was a great way to give us an outlet to give our suggestions instead of bombarding your email address, and was a great way to provide games that you likely hadn’t even heard of. it provided a nice bit of diversity, but I can also see the downsides that you pointed out. maybe it’ll come back in another, more refined form someday? who knows. thanks for the opportunity

Nick Bomer

Mine wasn't chosen but I'm okay with that, but from the videos/series I've watched from these lovely choises were great <3

bilbsy

Personally, and I'm sure there are many who would agree with me on this, it matters more to me that you guys are having fun and enjoying yourselves. That, to me is the stuff that feels good to watch, whatever else is happening on screen is always going to be secondary to that. You guys could turn game grumps into a fuckin' balatro podcast and I'd probably still tune in if you guys were still having fun. That's how I feel anyway.

Wolf

Somebody i believe already suggested the game i wanted Killer Frequency and honestly it was a choice for both us and because I genuinely thought you'd both enjoy it and find it very funny, silly but also pull you in. Tbh I didn't realise you'd only play an episode of it so in a way im glad id rather you get the full experience and tbh it would make an excellent ghoul grumps game to play for the long series! Regardless i appreciate the fact your trying new things it keeps the channel alive and as others have said we want you to have fun!

Wren

I personally really enjoy one-off episodes. I love the long series but sometimes if I fall behind I feel bad that I'm not watching it every day while I go back and catch up. But one-offs are always easy to watch any time with no prior commitment. But like a lot of other people said, my favorite episodes are when you guys are having the most fun. Some of the episodes where it was obvious you weren't into the game were kind of a bummer (still enjoyable, but felt a little wrong). Whatever keeps you enjoying yourselves, do that. Even if I don't care for the game it's still comforting to have the show on in the background of doing something else.

Chad Denmead

Cryptmaster could be fun for Ghoul Grumps if not a playthrough. The enjoyment of watching the struggle with some riddles as well as puzzles.

M&MWrite

Fun as the idea was, and I appreciate the perspective of framing it as a learning experience, I think this is the right call. I trust your experience on what makes for a good episode, what makes for good pacing over time and especially what keeps everyone at the show passionate, engaged and having a good time. Thanks for the opportunity, keep doing what you do best Game Grumps!

Ashly

Even if you're not gonna play a lot of that stuff on stream, I hope you've got some interesting things to check out eventually on your own!

Steven Smith

Have you guys considered doing longterm playthroughs like RPGs on Patreon since they usually don't retain consistent viewership on YouTube?

Samantha Chesire

Play typing of the dead! Very silly extremely fun

Caustic

My suggestion wasnt picked, but its understandable. We appreciate the attention to this. Ive also seen some general disappointment in comments, so i think this is probably the right move. You cant beat yourself up when a plan doesnt work exactly like you envisioned it, its much better to try stuff like Lovely Choices (which i thought was a fun idea) even if it doesnt work out than just trying nothing new and fall into a rut and never seeing if you could get something like a more direct feed of interest from people that support you the most. I feel that you communicated appropriately that these would be one-offs, and that we shouldnt expect them to be longer form videos. Maybe this format would work better if suggestions for games that arnt suitable for on-offs did not make it to the wheel. Something like "Teddy's Haven" is fine as a lovely choice. Chrono Trigger is not. Lovely choices was a fun way to be involved in the community, but i also feel that maybe some folks were feeling that it was sorta competitive. I can see that. We can learn from what made this work and do something else! This does not have to be the last time we do something similar to this. Ultimately, we are here for yall not for the games. Thanks for putting some trust in us, and being so open to new ideas. Dont let it bring you down when plans dont work to full effect, this worked in many more respects than it didnt. It's very nice yall are being so sensitive about this that youd rather stop doing it than cause some bad feelings in this nice community.

Jaysee Sell

I would love to see any of the Touch Detective games. In particular 2 1/2 bc I think it’s the best game and you won’t really be too lost. It would be cool!

Peri Kat

If you are enjoying deltarune you might give OFF RPG a try, it was a big inspiration to Toby when he made undertale

Ian

I really liked the experiment! It was a double edged sword. I wanted you to play my suggestion, Bug Fables, but I also didn't want you to, because I knew the point was only to play a couple episodes. Maybe one day my dream of you playing this legendary Paper Mario Like will come true. After all, you played Minish Cap!

Lilith C

Late to the thread here, but have you guys considered streaming once a week? Maybe as a large gaming channel you could reach out to game companies to get early access to stream games that are or will be popular, so that you don't miss the "hype" timeframe for games (such as Doom Dark Ages, for example). Those 40+ hour games may not be ideal for YouTube, but as another Patron mentioned, you could post longer form content on Patreon (which may help with more memberships as well). We want to see you guys all succeed and I definitely hope some feedback in this time will be helpful. Maybe jump on those classic horror games like the OG Silent Hill series, or get in there for Silent Hill F coming out at the end of the month! I think the older horror titles and newer ones as well do interest people. Food for thought. Love you guys, take care!

Matthijs en Alma Janse

What i liked about it: the intimate choice moment. The little patron video in which we together as patron and you guys sit on the couch as if we together decide what we are going to do, was a really fun experience. Thanks! Np. You guys should play what you find fun and is engaging enough. Double edged sword like others said. One offs can be fun, but if it ends up in mostly just tutorials cause you just do one episode, that can be draining too.

Mister Cletus

Thank you for what you did! I hope to see you still consider playing 'D' someday, or 'Sharks and Minnows' for Ghoul Grumps. Dan'll love it 'em both - one sincerely, the other sarcastically. And they're both deliberately on the shorter side.

rebboo

I'll say for me the part that wasn't quite right was the way longer games were played without the implication(intention?) to be continued whether for lack of enjoyment or sheer length or what have you, but then I've always preferred the longer series like botw, totk, phoenix wright, the other Zelda games, undertale and deltarune, things like that. My thought is that I'd rather wait for it to show up on the weekends if the team decides to play a more involved game. Hopefully the expectations haven't soured any of the games because a lot of them seemed interesting to me anyway, and I look forward to maybe seeing some around in the future.

Willie

Grumps Thank you for this segment, Iv really enjoyed watching you guys play some of the suggestions here and would have loved this to become a more permanent segment. What I really wanted to say is i would love you guys to go back to more of finishing games again. I just finished watching the Resident Evil 1 "the movie" video and really enjoy watching you stick at games you enjoy. The whole 1 - 3 episodes per game is okay but i love the longer play throughs, (unless its a shitty game). I had come here to ask for a Resident evil 0 playthrough and would love to see it in future.

GamingWith Jezdamayel

Thank you! It was kind of you to make a format because of all the suggestions. I can not wait to see more things in the future. Thank you.

Min

It was awesome to see you guys exposed to more mainstream games! If you ever bring back these one-offs, just make it clear. It’s One-Off Wednesday or a One Shot Onsie or have a gunshot and Wilhelm scream at the end as you “kill” the game and move on lol. I think that would be enjoyable, and as we get used to it, we can drop the expectations and enjoy the ride. The fanbase is a little older, right? We can adjust. :)

Brandi

Thanks guys for the ones you did do. My game wasn't chosen, but I did agree with a lot of the other games I saw on that wheel- in that I think you'd like them. If you ever go back through and check those out- I think that'd be neat. Thanks guys 😁🥰

triggs.jpg

Thank you, guys! I really enjoyed this segment, but I understand your reasons for why you needed to end it. For me, I loved that I got a bigger insight as to what other fans played and wanted you to experience. Both mainstream and lesser known titles were played, and I thought that was, well, lovely!

Elsie Bartlett

I think it may have gone differently if games were rank-choiced, so if a game received an overwhelming amount of votes, it might do a lot better than some of the choices where it was just a couple people. The randomness of the wheel gives everyone an equal chance, but I think people would have understood their game not being picked if they were the only one who voted for it. As it was, we only really got to see how many submissions there were for a game after it was chosen randomly. If you still have the list and have counts on the submission totals, I would suggest trying a one-off of the most popular game (if a tie, use the wheel!)

Rexila

Honestly I submitted the games I did with full expectation and understanding that if they were chosen, they wouldn't get more than a single session. Which admittedly, there was a feeling of, 'aw too bad, because they might enjoy playing more of it', but hey, better to have played and lost than never played at all, or something? My point is though that it was fun while it lasted, and it's always going to be hard to manage audience expectations with this sort of thing no matter how clear the terms are. Or something like that, I hit enter and it posted the comment and now I'm in a rush editing more substance in aaaaa OH RIGHt, personally, I think Lovely Choices was a great sample platter of sorts for games, because knowing you'd only do one episode meant that if I wanted to know more about the game, I'd have to go and get it on my own. In fact, a few Lovely Choices ended up in my library shortly after the episodes released! So I think that's what I enjoyed most about the Lovely Choices series! A quick Game Grumps sampler that might not have come up in the normal selection process.

Navi _

It was fun, I certainly learned a little bit more about what gamers today are playing. I’m a millennial stuck in my own gaming ways, I know what I like and limit myself to those specific game types only. I always found myself unable to provide a good recommendation because just the tutorial alone would be an entire hour or two episode. These days I only find myself watching the 10 Minute Power Hour and the Patreon videos. My taste in content has really twisted these last five years and now I’m only interested in really weird and obscure content. I like the weird and obscure games, i like the fan made games, i like the .EXE scary games, I watched a man play with 90s toys the other night and ruin his own nostalgia, and I watched someone else play shiddy Flash games from the early 2000’s. 🤷‍♀️

Auston Salazar

I appreciateted the community engagement, it felt like our voices were heard to a small extent./you should play paradigm/ And, I agree with something someone else said; maybe a pole on 3 different games so that you get a feel of what the majority would like to see, is a good idea./play paradigm/ Or, maybe the more longform games can be chosen in that fashion. Or, you could do the wheel for ONLY short form content. Things like a "3 weird/scary/funny etc, games" would do well with that. /Paradigm is a good game/ But I was also disappointed that sometimes a game I was excited about, wasn't finished. I understand the decision to stop, and look forward to whatever you do in the future :) Also, I think you should look into the game "paradigm".

EARTHRISE

Big thank you for the transparency. I think this opened the door for some interaction in a controlled, healthy environment. Personally I'd love to see Amanda the Adventurer 2 because it builds on the first one and scary Grumps is a staple among the content. As for other content, I can't say since it is dependent on how you can best format it for a series/one-off. Aside from that, the dialog is much appreciated and valued.

Sean

I enjoyed this year long experiment of yours. I learned about a few games I ended up playing on my own as a result. Appreciate the announcement.

Benny

Thank you so much for the announcement btw. However this is my response: Well, thats incredibly disappointing. I'm fully on board as a fan to do what makes you happy as an actor and artist. But I don't think completely shelving this it is a good idea. I normally preferred some of the lovely choices to your actual main line choices. I think adding things to the wheel, only if they have a certain number of suggestions would be way better. Prefaced with "this is only guaranteed one episode." If people don't understand the commitment, thats no reason to punish everyone who enjoyed it and tuned in weekly for the special episode. You guys played TWO HUNDRED EPISODES OF DANGANRONPA! You can't commit a single episode a week to a fan suggestion without having some kind crisis about whether or not it'll "work"?? Cmon brother.

Frank Holden

I love you guys, but the lovely choice was way more exciting than a billion episodes of danganronpa. I re-subscribed to patreon just to get a peek at the wheel and make sure I could submit games if I had another chance. So that’s kinda disappointing.

MaKayla Maynard

Please play more I'm Not A Human now that the full release is out, with peace and love <3

Megan Nixon

I think this is a fair decision. The only games that were landed on that you guys could realistically finish were like Stray, Little Miss Fortune, and Unpacking. Everything else would be way too long. I myself was frustrated with people's suggestions because I knew as a fan they're not fit for the show. However, I'd still love to see Stray or Little Miss F finished! It was fun while it lasted. I loved the engagement!

Sara Loehndorf

The lovely choices was really cool! I enjoyed the experience of submitting but I also enjoy all the regular content on both channels. In the future you could totally do YouTube/patron polls to a similar way, maybe give a vote for what game to play out of a few options every so often would be really cool too.

Kirin Creates

That's sad :( I found some really cool games because of Lovely Choices! It's a great way to play indie games and get them some exposure. I hope you can come up with an alternative that works for you <3 I still think you guys should play Amber Isle. Dan would LOVE making a little dinosaur character and it's all about running a store!

Lucky Dagger

On the contrary I think the fact they gave some indie games some exposure was really cool. Long play through of niche games obviously aren't likely but maybe they can start doing like an indie preview every once and a while and complete the game if they really like it.

Lucky Dagger

Could you maybe do an occasional indie game spotlight from indie games on the list to do one or two episodes and finish the ones you and a bunch of fans are interested in? I know some really cool games that aren't getting the love they deserve because they were made by small teams or are niche categories. I only found out about Void Stranger because of Super Eyepatch Wolf and you could make a bigger impact than him because of how frequently you post videos.

Lucky Dagger

I expect they will put that out for Ghoul Grumps.

Sierra Clibourne

I think it would be a cool idea if you did like, a monthly patreon show where you played the game that everyone voted was the most popular, and every month people vote on if they want a new episode of that or to pick a new game. I think just directly asking us if we want more episodes of something versus a shakeup would sort of take that analysis paralysis away from yall.

Randir076

This is a good call honestly. There were sooo many episodes from great games but them being cut off as a one off just plain felt bad. And that's probably more to do with how a LOT of the suggestions were very long games. But inversely the show's setup wouldn't have worked unless you were almost exclusively playing small indie horror games which there are too many that are 30min-2 hours total to beat. *Most* games, and I'll say probably all of the ones suggested are included in this, are games that are at minimum 8 hours long (and some were much longer than that). Having a one off episode for an hour at most was like watching only the first 15 minutes of a movie and leaving the theater. it would be like watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy and ending it before Frodo ever even gets the ring. Like Stray ended while you were still in the middle of the tutorial. And the sad thing for me was seeing that you guys actually enjoyed them, with the episodes being really funny too, but then it just got tossed to the wayside. I don't know, maybe there's a format where this works but from what was being suggested it just wouldn't work. I'd suggest maybe take this episode spot and fill it with an indie spotlight or early access thing, seems like a good way to interact with new developers who could really use the eyes on their games that aren't getting them. But for my preference I enjoy seeing you guys able to play through a full game (even if it's a short one), that's what got me into the channel and that's what has kept me here, and I know that's a difficult ask especially when long series don't get the views you need. Thanks for reaching out and trying to include the community though, I'd still like to see if we can get a list of the people that suggested the game if you're playing it because of suggestions.

Mark Aimino

honestly, the last game you guys played that I recommended was when I sent in Amazing Island YEARS ago, so that was more than enough for me. happy with whatever you decide to do from here on.

Cameron Bereznick

I think what was cool about Lovely Choices was it was less about the games you were asked to play and more about getting a flavor of what your community is looking for. I've been watching the show since the early days when people would still mail games in, so I thought this was a cool throw back to that time. But you guys have so many viewers now its impossible to cater to everyone and have their voice adequately heard. Someone is always going to be mad - it's the internet. What I hope for, more than anything, is that Lovely Choices gave you a better picture of where you could go in the future, in terms of genre (more horror/sci-fi?), maybe getting in more air time for indie titles as opposed to exhausting Nintendo's entire catalogue. Working in the vacuum of an office space can sometimes narrow your perspective to what you and your colleagues suggest, so hopefully the community helped contribute, giving you some new ammo for future episodes. We don't expect you guys to go for every top title or craze that others are chasing (in fact, please don't it's what separates you guys from 99% of the gaming space) but sometimes its nice to get your take and comedy on a variety of different games. Maybe in the future, instead of taking blanket suggestions with no ceiling or floor, give a closed option, like a poll with 4 - 6 choices that Patreon can vote on? That way you can still control some of the variables for your side (length of the game, interest, workability for the show, etc.). Either way I still love y'all, this is one of the few YouTube channels I still get a kick out of watching every day. :)

I know this happened a while ago but something I love about this GG is when they play a game and Arin is the guy goofing and riffing about the game as he plays and Dan sits there also goofing but falls in love with whatever game and if its a game I love, I love watching Dan fall for it as well ..the dynamic is great so longer series of games yall may not have played due to length I think the community would fuck with that ..ive been wanting to see a Bioshock playthrough for years cause i think Arin and Dan can riff off it and goof off but at the same time I think Dan would love it.. Dan missed out on a lot of games growing up so thats the charm for me.. obviously Arin can enjoy the games too and thats awesome lol Bioshock is just one example too and I bet everyone has games theyd love to see.. overall I totally understand why its going but I do hope more long series happen as a result of their testing here. Love yall been watching since the channel started👌

Lucas Bastos de Freitas

i know this is from a while ago but I just wanted to say not only I loved the Lovely Choices, but also, seeing this rn, I also love how you're handling the situation. as a fan, I personally love the kinds of playthroughs that you are both enjoying. i understand the big commitments (although I'd personally loved more episodes of Disco Elysium) and reiterate that you should play what you want! kisses

Luminoscity

Please please finish Stray, the cat game with amazing graphics and story! It was one of the lovely choices that only got one video. Go look at how many views it got and all the comments begging for it not to be a one-off and agreeing that Stray is a very special game among all the lovely choices. Absolutely everyone loves that game and it's not that long. You guys should finish it.

conzer1394

Damn it, I legitimately just paid for the patreon in hopes to suggest a lovely choice. I've always wanted to support yall through patreon but this was quite the sad news to find out that it stopped two months ago. Overall im glad that you gave the community the opportunity to suggest games but totally understand reasoning behind stopping them. Im hopeful that there may be some chance yall do it again but won't be upset if it just ends as an experiment. Much love grumps ❤️

Peb and Oliv

A lot of the things people submitted really weren't fitting for game grumps. Not to say they're bad games or I don't understand why people would want to just suggest their favourites because it's their favourites but like... yeah

Meta's Lair of Muns

I mean a game that would be nice to be seen specifically because you can make voices for characters is Bug Fables...

Chloe Foxe

I need to see your guys rection to 'my wife threw out my card collection'

Groggy Gamer

I know this suggestion probably won't be seen, but another approach could be curating the submissions a bit. A simple message back that a submission couldn't be used would've worked fine. That said, I respect your decision and your approach, even if it still bums me out.

Ageing_Golem

Lovely choices were fun but I agree with everything you said. It’s a hard series to keep going indefinitely as well.

Ageing_Golem

Not sure if this thread is still being read, but “New Monopoly” came out and would be a great content farm for you guys!

Lyzion

You should play ”Shadow of Mordor” i think its called, its a lotr ps4 game, phenomenal hack and slash

gorpdog

no bugsnax? :( i hope you guys will play in the future :)

Maya Prest

You guys are very good at knowing what works for you & i love to see you live it 🫰

Big Dingus

i love watching you guys develop and grow. no matter what you do or how you do it, i know i can always believe in you and support you. im just glad to be a part of this

Rory Montgomery

I'm very late to the replying party here, but for whatever it's worth, I agree with the decision to let this format go. It is disappointing when games don't get finished or to see when you guys just aren't into it. (I'd rather you not play a game I suggested if you're not into/it generally doesn't work for the show than to see you try it out and clearly not vibe with it.) I like the idea of an indie spotlight that some folks have suggested. I personally love seeing older games that maybe don't get a lot of recognition. Some of my favorite episodes are Dan geeking out about Sierra Games that I'm too young to have played as they were coming out. Something I love about the show is that you'll play older titles (even when there isn't necessarily any nostalgia attached to it). I'm a big pop culture/cultural history nerd, so seeing games from all points of gaming history is really interesting to me. I think something like a "hidden gems" spotlight, whether it's hidden because it's "lost" to time or because it's a new game getting overshadowed by bigger titles, would be cool. Having patrons vote from a predetermined list might strike that balance of us getting some choice and you guys knowing the games work for the show/are interesting to you.

ThatBishBleargles

As someone who waited -six years- for SA2 to get picked back up, I totally called that this would end up happening. Sucks I got here too late to throw in Pokemon Stadium mini games

Mackenzie Grover

Zombies ate my Neighbors would be a great one off. It’s two player as well! It’d be cool to see classic horror games here or on the main channel :)

Big Zammy

Yakuza is perfekt for you guys

Colleen&Ruth

Please play my summer car or my winter car. A shitty Finnish game

Cortney Walsh

Furry Pride Paradise or Furry Girls Paradise

Grant Willard

Please please please continue Deltarune. It’s the series I looked forward to the most when you guys started playing it again, I was so happy. Please continue it.

Maddie Bova

I think it's the right call. I think it's still good to take suggestion in a non-pressured setting, so you are still able to broaden your horizons, but you shouldn't have to shoulder that pressure. Especially if work and people rely on you as well.

Mamamew TheRani

I just found out about a wii game called "Muscle March" and I think you boys would love to play it. It can be beaten in under an hour.

Beccachu

I know I'm stupidly late to this but there's a game called My Voice Zoo which I think you guys would love and would be hilarious to see you guys play. It's a mobile game and I think its in steam so it's a one and done but maybe you guys might see this and give it a look. Keep up the amazing work you do. You guys have brought so much joy into my life over the years and I love you both to bits. Xx

Taylor Hodges

I really want them to play Ultimate Despair Girls, purely to see their reactions to Toko’s daydreams, but I also totally understand if they don’t play it. I know the Danganronpa series isn’t a favorite for a lot of their viewers

Lea

A game suggestion Can you guys please play Escape simulator 2 plzz it's fine if it's just a short video one off thing

Queen Snarf

Literally joined this Patreon to see if there was any Date Everything content, I'm so glad I'm not the only one!! I think it's definitely a game within their wheelhouse worth playing, but I don't think I'd enjoy it as much unless it were a series. Grumps should play what they want but I hope they'll play it consistently instead of single episodes only
