i actually gave up on watching this series because youre getting the most basic facts about pokemon wrong and it makes me too angry. i saw the thumbnail and title for this episode and cringed in pain. why did you even do this playthrough if you dont know shit about pokemon or nuzlockes.

I don’t expect pro level gameplay so I mostly just enjoy it for Danny and Arnold goofin and gaffin, if I want a serious nuzlocke I’d probably just look up one or try it myself so I say great job for what I’m expecting in a game grumps nuzlocke lol

I’ve never watched a nuzlocke let’s play before, so I can’t say one way or another if it’s being done “correctly.” I certainly am enjoying it and really look forward to the weekend to see the new episodes. The only thing I would change is having another person in the room to look up the questions Arin had like “what level does a pokemon evolve” or “what pokemon can be caught on this route,” because the boys keep trusting the google AI for answers and it’s giving them the wrong info most of the time.

It doesn't bother me if you're making mistakes at Pokemon or not, it's just fun to watch and listen to you guys chat in these long series. I think there is 2 camps, people who just wanna see good content (which I fall into) and people who want to see good nuzlock runs. Is it good content? Absolutely, I think it’s funny as hell and the Pokémon dying in preventable ways is why I love this channel. I think the folks that bleed nuzlock are annoyed by it. That being said I’m pretty confused by those folks. Did they expect competent hardcore nuzlock videos? If so why? It would appear some feel that unless the guys have an encyclopedic knowledge of Pokémon they shouldn’t play. Which is weirdo behaviour. Chill.

I love the Grumplocke because it is different experience than any other youtuber playing a Nuzlocke. I like to watch The Grumps playing it, I like reading peoples reactions to The Grumps playing it, and to be honest, I like to bet against The Grumps and be proven wrong!

I feel bad how hard the comments are on Arin. Pokémon fans don’t realize just how much knowledge there is to learn in these games. And how easy it is to miss/misunderstand. To them it’s obvious because they played rhe hell out of the game and paid attention but to casual fans or ones with attention issues it’s not. As someone who’s only passively into the series, there’s tons of stuff Arin does that I could easily see myself doing. BUT Arin is particularly bad at retaining things on the show, and learning from mistakes, so I get where it’s coming from.

-There's an app called Pokemon randomizer which gives you the capability to evolve trade-evolve Pokemon. I don't know if it'll retroactively work for a game you've already started, but worth taking a look into. -Keep a Pokemon Type chart/poster in the room. -Read the description to every Pokemon move, don't just look at the Power. If an opponent plays a move you don't recognize or know the effect of, take the time to learn it. A move like Bide will absolutely obliterate you if you don't realize that it's essentially dealing double the damage you give it. -Look into the berries. The Razz Berry makes it easier to catch Pokemon, some berries will automatically heal damaged Pokemon, and there are berries that negate super-effective Type damages. They will absolutely save you. -It's worth getting an NPC guide to learn which NPC to talk to to get certain items. -You can totally fast forward through low-level grinds. It doesn't bother us, but you can just lower the volume if you're that concerned. -Also, sillier names are better. The running joke of making all the names sound kind of the same just makes it hard to distinguish between Pokemon. (Except Barb. Barb is perfect.)

oh, you're catastrophic at the Nuzlocke thing, but in an incredibly unique, fun way that's why it's the *Grumplocke*, which you're the best at, hands down. Leaf types, bird types, onixes and psychic-psyduck line and all♡ P.S. if you guys enjoy this enough and it gets enough love, it could be really exciting to see you do a pokemon romhack or even a randomizer in the future. It feels like a middle ground that doesn't work gameplay wise. Kind of like a Lazy Nuzlocke. I think it would be better to either go for a complete nuzlocke or to play normally. Grumping on point regardless!

Been waiting for this for nearly a DECADE!! So excited for the highs and lows of this soon-to-be Grumps classic 😁 It's one of the most watched Nuzlockes on YouTube! Some tips: 1. Make a list of every route/area with an entry banner and mark off the ones you've caught a Pokémon in. Or use Nuzlocke Tracker. 2. Catch a Staravia. Fly will cut down on travel time. 3. Offscreen level grinding is fine! I don't speak for everyone, but most would probably agree 4. Stock. Your. Potions. 5. Use Bulbapedia or Serebii for encounter tables. The AI summaries are trash. Don't be a clanker. 6. Enjoy it!! Don't worry too much about doing it "correctly." We're here for goofs and gaffs! Love you guys 🧡💙🫶🏻

If Dan can learn to use seribii or bulbapedia then things can go much smoother. But I know that is a very tall ask. Arin also needs to learn that offensively, STAB damage isnt everything. Defensively, it means everything. Also, doing research before exploring new routes and towns and gyms is NOT against the rules. You can do as much research as you want!! You SHOULD do as much research as possible I know, it is a lot to ask for a show like this

It is something very fun to see y'all play a long game like this again. I feel like with longer plays we get to become invested in the game and the journey and something like a nuzlocke gives y'all stakes too and that leads to y'all finding it easier to "lock in" because you can't hit an undo button when a Pokemon dies. I love the series and I think that the loose nuzlocke format does leave itself open to a "real" nuzlocke later with a game like Pokemon Emerald which I don't believe y'all have played yet (possibly with a referee to make sure y'all keep all the rules straight and enforced?)

I don’t care how well you follow the made up rules to a made up game. I think the limitations that a nuzlocke set makes watching any Pokémon playthrough more interesting and it’s very entertaining to watch Arin try to negotiate his way through them. I’d be disappointed if you stopped doing it just because a bunch of people don’t like that you’re not being strict enough for them. Those people are welcome to watch literally any other nuzlocke. I’m here for the chaos and the lols.

I’ve watched Arin have no attention to detail, fight battles woefully unprepared, not play around the RNG that comes with this game and then not learn from his mistakes and keep brute forcing the game until he rages hilariously. Wouldn’t trade this for the world, I love our dads so much

It’s been great! I watch for the funny™️, not because I wanna watch two guys be good at Pokémon, LMAO. Honestly, when there are really strict rules and the dudes stop having fun (read: Arin seems stressed), that’s where it gets less interesting/ fun to watch? And this isn’t a competitive game channel, so (while they do a genuinely good/ fun job!), the standard should NOT be perfection, because like…. Why would it be? If The Dudes™️ aren’t enjoying themselves, it kind of shows and stops being fun. So far, ALL the episodes have been really funny and good, so as long as they’re enjoying it, keep it up! When Arin or Dan starts having a bad time, that’s when it needs to end. The Aggressively Loud Pokémon People— the ones that I’m sure are the angriest?— are probably not the core fan base who enjoy the Sweet Vids™️, haha.

I want to scream at the screen sometimes when Arin is about to do something stupid, but most of the time, the Nuzlocke is fun. Two criticisms: catch a Pokemon in all areas you can and use Bulbapedia instead of an AI grab for the available Pokemon in a Route.

I never played Pokemon and hadn't heard of nuzlock until this play through. While I'm like Dan, and am sad when a team dies, I also love the chaos. I just wish you would have done whatever to actually save the game. The savestates make me nervous. But that's also part of the chaos, so alls well that ends tragically!

Great run? No. Great content? Oh fuck yes. I don't care how badly Arin fucks up, as long as they ACTUALLY COMMIT to finishing. I don't care if you get team wiped at the elite 4. You gotta start back up again. And, maybe go with chinchar when you do get team wiped. I'm normally not fond of fire types starters, but there's a ton of grass and water types in sinnoh, but ponyta, and chimchar are the ONLY fire types, unless platinum added some.

I’m having a great time watching! I’m playing along on pearl. Use the VS. SEEKER to battle trainers you’ve already battled, it helps level your Pokémon up faster since trainer battles give more exp.
