2019, Mike Trout signed a 12-year, $426 million contract with the Angels. Professional athletes can make crazy money; Basketball legend Michael Jordan has a net worth of $3.5 billion as of August 2023

I don't like baseball but I love this movie, and yeah it is entirely accessible as a sports movie without knowing anything about baseball - there isn't really even much baseball in it; I think that's one of the reasons it works so well - there are many levels on which you can enjoy this movie and get something out of it. On the money thing relatively speaking baseball is somewhat of a poverty sport, but I think baseball likes that about baseball, the numbers involved are really nothing compared to other professional sports. Sorkin had a great run of writing really excellent and substantial biopics for a while there, I think he lost his edge, but this, Charlie Wilson's War and Steve Jobs are really exceptional and unusual in their execution.

I loved your reaction. It seems you have a good interest in the game that could develop into a passion. Here's a list of films I think you would enjoy. Field Of Dreams Bull Durham Eight Men Out Major League A League Of Their Own 42 The Rookie And, in my opinion, the best movie about baseball- The Bad News Bears(76)

Every one of those is a stellar movie even though many are in remarkably different genres.
