L: While working on it, I focused a lot on how color and framing can help build atmosphere:

  • I used the bamboo stalks to partially obscure the character, which creates a sense of depth and tension — like we’re watching them, or they’re watching someone else.

  • The lighting shifts toward the background to give a subtle glow, drawing attention to the center without being too dramatic.

  • And I chose cool purples and greens to keep the mood between mysterious and calm — neither hostile nor safe.

I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, and I hope it draws you into the world of Shang-La just a little more ✨

Let me know what kind of mood you read from it!

Also, there is an HQ banner in attachmenets :>

It's very dreamy and peaceful! But there's a certain tension in the air. To me it feels like I just locked eyes with a wild deer and it could be spooked and run away at any second. A fleeting moment.

I have to utterly agree. We are mear visitors that catch only a glimpse. But I feel as if u can stare forever.

I love this! The color palette really enhances the feeling of mystery; especially with the light being in the background. While that light might not be safe either (bc let's be honest, nothing in any Flat regardless of region is safe) but the darkness and deeper colors that are ahead and just out of view promise an even stronger, far more enticing thing so who can blame anyone for wanting a peek or to venture forward?
