► Table of dein names

L: Look what do we got here!

Together with Grimm, we made designs for dein coins of different values. From left to the right: 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100.

1 - pictures a local grape used for famous Latorian wines.

2 - here is a sujidaro, a popular in Shang-La draft animal, and I'm sure I don't even have to explain why they are essential for parba. In case you forgot or didn't know — they drag vardo. Latorian suji is bigger and stronger than any other suji breed.

5 - Archer Rock, landmark of Latori. Places in the very center of the country.

10 - Pictures a semi-mythological hero of Latorian epos, the werefox.

25 - There is a cult of lasius in North Latori. They patronize funerals and represent death.

50 - Well, no comments. Sualokin were and still are the most popular sneks in Latori. Their image changed during the years the more parba got to know how sualokin looked.

100 - This is a side face of the current Red Baroness, Mervari.

The second image is a reverse of dein and displays a poppy, a symbolic flower of Latori, and Red Baroness' initials, M and F (Mervari Fiadelita).

SO! 👏Would you like to participate in an activity?

Sometimes coin names come from the public impression of the appearance of the coins. We could make names ourselves, but it would be boring. So we want to read your suggestions and use them in the lore to make it more lively (with credits to you, of course)!

For example, any normal parba will call 1 dein a "grape" or a few coins of 1 deins as "grapes." How would you call 1 dein? Or any other dein coin?

Write a value of a coin and suggest your names in the comments! Like this:

lingrimm

Elkane

It seems really basic but I think you could attribute 5s > “Bow” (Bows, plural) I really like this though! Really helps out with knowing what the currency looks like. For the longest time I thought it was just based on gold/silver/copper coins (or what ever the Shang-La material equivalents would be XD)

I like the sound of calling some amount of deins a "plume" ! Like maybe 10 > a plume "Do you have a couple plumes to spare?". To elaborate, a plume usually refers to a long feather or arrangement of feathers used by a bird for display :) so maybe it could fit for the 50+ value for the sualokin motif ?

>2 - Sujis Well, since these are represented by sujidaros I think it sounds about right to name them "Sujis". Sounds catchy for a coin imo.

Vitarka

How about :100 > "corolla" ? ^^ a corolla refers to the usually colourful petals of a flower ! Since the Red Baroness is fond of poppys, I think it would fit well ! The plural would be "corollas" it also reminds of the word crown or coronation, which would give it a royal feel. :)

>10 - Den I figured why not call it Den since it can relate to a den of foxes or in this case a den of werefoxes lol. It can refer to a container holding multiple deins of 10s. I always wondered how the currency would look like. I thought the same as Elkane, I used to think they looked like simple gold and silver coins. I am liking the designs of these much better.

Avgur

Sounds good. In Russian too!

These look rad! I wish i wasn’t so bad at coming up with names T_T good luck to everyone else’s ideas!

25 > Memento/Mementos (for plural) Since Lasius represent death in latori the coin could be used as a sort of "Memento" to remember the dead and those they've lost. my second idea was to just name the lasius coin - Gorgon/Gorgons. latorians could use this term as another way to describe lasius maybe lol. Or they could call multiple lasius coins "a viper pit" because of all the lasius heads in the persons hand looking like a pit of snakes. when someone asks "hey can I borrow a viper pit?" they mean if they can borrow a few lasius deins.

kaNoharu

These designs are better than many real word coins for sure! If they will ever play an important role in the game you could add extra variation with different colored materials and thicknesses, wider or narrower rims, serrated or smooth edges, and that rock one just begs for a hexagonal or pentagonal shape to compliment the jaggedness of the rocks:D! (I will not even try to come up with names though, I'm terrible, I just named my newest sahash Sasha...)

AndreFuchs

Vitarka

Just because the same word is used doesn't mean it doesn't fit (and I would argue that the word fits better here than as the nickname of what I assume to be a car) . And I can assure you that the botanical term existed way before it was used as the nickname of a car. Apparently, the word corolla goes back to the 17th century as to say "little crown" which is probably why it was used to describe the beautiful parts of a flower. If you search long enough, you likely will find that every single word has already been used to name or describe something else, unless you invent something completely new which is not necessarily the point of this. Nonetheless I appreciate your comments and I didn't know there was a car out there that also used the same word.

lingrimm

Your point is right here, but sometimes I catch myself an associations with some cars too (Logan, Pathfinder, Duster, etc) - just because I see these words often in a certain context. It doesn't mean though that these words are not available for naming things anymore, but it's important to understand, how often they could cause associations like this. I will think if "corolla" apliable though!

Vitarka

That's very true. And I have of course experienced this myself before ! XD

>5 - quiver Figured why not call multiple deins of 5 a quiver since the image is based of the archer rock.
