Natrix Reference (DONE) (Patreon)
Content
L: Since art of Natrix and Leik was finally finished for the Wounded Cepheids series, I decided to go a little deeper into writing these characters lore. You have already seen sketches here, and Natrix from the Cepheid series here.
UPD
I tried to clean up the text of unfamiliar Shanglanian words in order to make it easier for newcomers to understand, yet some of the terms are still there x) In any case, you can always ask me whatever you want to know in comments.
The reference shows not only Natrix, but also her kamito. The relationship of the Cepheids and their "hosts" is very important in the context of Cepheids story - in the end, it were mortals (some of them, at least) who gave these tsourai their appearance, taught them something new, influenced their worldview. Of course, not all relationships develop smoothly. Natrix and Lake are in the "bad luck" category. Or perhaps it was the kamito that got unlucky with their patrons?
The Pratia period (approximately 300 years before the events of the Crown of Leaves) is where these stories about Cepheids and their kamito take place. This was an extremely dark era, full of wars, misfortunes and natural disasters. The Stream had just appeared, forcing Tsourai to change their usual way of life and resulting in significant resource losses. Some tsourai became Devourers to become stronger - eating their own kind made them much more powerful and resistant to the Stream. To put it mildly, those tsourai who refused to follow this path did not approve of this method of survival at all. As a result, the clans stopped trading, stopped trusting each other and became isolated within their small communities, which still have not saved many of them from total extinction. The Great Hunger was a name given to this era.
We want to tell you more about it someday in the form of a small visual novel series. But these are plans for the far future - once we finish the Crown of Leaves and put an end to Roui's story. It's enjoyable to think about and draw the characters from the Great Hunger story, and it helps us relax a bit.
By the way! Do you want us to create a video of the drawing process for this reference?
(Yes, I finally have the strength to create content - just wait, I will probably crawl to streams again xP)
