As I write this, it is exactly three weeks until the release of Daggerheart, Critical Role's eagerly-anticipated fantasy RPG from Darrington Press (the publishing arm of CR).
I started working on Daggerheart almost 18 months ago, and working for Darrington Press in helping develop and write the game has been the majority of my working life since then. It's been an amazing experience and came along at just the right time to help my family's finances through what I thought was a rough patch and may increasingly become Just The Way Of Things as we deal with the chaos of another Trump administration's economic policy. With the publishing industry in rough shape and given how burned out I am on writing fiction these days, ttrpg design, writing, and commentary feels like the place I should be focusing both from a creative and financial sustainability perspective.
Since Daggerheart is a bigger production than any of my creator-owned fiction, there's a specific process in place for promoting the game that I am following (hence why I haven't blabbed about absolutely everything already). But once the game is properly out and the Creator's Guild License is active, I'll be able to make third-party material for the game using my expertise as one of the game's designers. My plan is to do most of that work here on this Patreon and then releasing it more widely after refinement/editing.
What I'd love to know from patrons and subscribers here is what kind of material you'd like to see with regards to Daggerheart.
So I've created a poll with what I think are the five most sensible options, ranging from new character options to campaign frames, adventures, and so on. If you'd like to see something different regarding Daggerheart, please feel free to let me know in the comments, and you can also use those to elaborate on your votes for other options if you'd like. This poll is for information-gathering only, since consistent contract work is going to remain important for my household finances. It's not a question of whether there will be more Daggerheart material on this Patreon, more a question of how much and what shape that work takes.
