This weekend, my YouTube channel crossed the 1000-subsrcriber line, qualifying me for the full monetization (ads for full-length videos and shorts).

Before I go into more depth of the how of this, I want to say thank you to everyone here that has been a part of getting me to this milestone.

This is especially cool since my channel had about 190 subscribers just before Daggerheart's release. So over 800 of those are just in the last two months since I started making resource videos for Daggerheart based on my thoughts about/perspectives on the game.

I really enjoy streaming, and only stopped because I had difficulty making the time and having the energy to stream alongside doing other projects. How much I can stream has been up and down since late May, but I am hoping to settle at about once a week, with occasional second streams in a week when I feel like it.

Per my last post, I am waiting on publishing new homebrew/CGL material for Daggerheart until August, so the videos I've been doing lately are more about using the game as-is vs. adding to the game with new adversaries/environments/etc.

Format-wise, I've found my sweet spot in a conversational, decompressed style where I have notes and a bit of an outline but leave myself plenty of room to vamp and digress, as well as having the latitude to respond to chat comments and questions. I know that there's a lot to be said for a tight, scripted, video format, but that's less viable for me because of the time involved for video editing and because of my extemporaneous speaking style. Darrington Press/Critical Role has made excellent very polished videos in the Get Your Sheet Together series which are official resources. So I'm finding a niche in providing a personal, non-official but well-informed perspective on the game.

As suggested by the channel's growth, the response to my approach has been very positive, and the flow of comments and questions has been a great source of motivation and encouragement. I'm still viewing the streams as a way of putting out some ideas around other work rather than as my primary source of income/way of making art. In my experience, providing resources is a great form of content marketing, especially if/when I'm going to be publishing Daggerheart-compatible material alongside streaming Daggerheart-related resources.

My primary plan is still to work on game design work (Daggerheart-compatible and otherwise) plus fiction if and when I can find my way back into it, but I'm going to try to lean into this thing that's working and make sure to integrate it into my overall strategy since there is clearly demand and interest.

So expect more of everything coming soon!
