Oreo has not yet awoken from his slumber, so Meg and I sit with our breakfast in the quiet.

As an elder statesman dog, Oreo sleeps more now, but takes more care and cajoling in going to sleep when he is tired and grumpy. We recently got him a bigger crate to be his primary bed/bedroom - open-fronted with a soft bed inside. It is doing what we hoped - Oreo doesn't get stuck unable to turn around as much - and still serves the purpose of giving him a contained place where can be confident that nothing is sneaking up on him, even though of course he is a beloved and pampered inside dog and there are no marauders to sneak up on his flanks.

But soon comes the time of waking and walkies. Here's to making it the best day we can.
