Dungeons of Drakkenheim x Daggerheart (Patreon)

I'm beyond delighted to share the news that I am Lead Designer of the forthcoming Daggerheart Campaign Guide for Dungeons of Drakkenheim, working with the Dungeon Dudes and Ghostfire Gaming!

With this guide, players will be able to explore the cursed city of Drakkenheim using the Daggerheart rules, where the interplay of Hope and Fear is front and center. Drakkenheim was already designed to focus on the PCs as leads in the story, so it's a perfect match for Daggerheart. Long-time followers will remember I even used Dungeons of Drakkenheim as a case study for my Archetype Adventure Design idea, then called Made-to-Measure design, which ended up being a part of why the publisher Ghostfire Gaming approached me to join this project.

Here is where I will say again that I have been very lucky in my career and benefitted from several big moments of serendipity between this and connecting with Darrington via my video on Candela Obscura when the Quickstart guide for that game was released.

The process of working with the Dungeon Dudes and Ghostfire has been an absolute blast so far, and I am so excited to do more.

For those not familiar with the Drakkenheim setting, here's a very short overview from of the original 5e version via Ghostfire's site:

Fifteen years ago, Drakkenheim was destroyed by an eldritch storm of falling stars. Now the city is a dismal urban wasteland contaminated by otherworldly magic and haunted by hideous monsters. Explore over 20 ruined urban locations, inspired by dark fantasy and cosmic horror! Personal quests, tantalizing rumors and lightweight urban exploration mechanics allow player characters to experience the ruins in a nonlinear and open-ended fashion.
