I watched almost every season of Game of Thrones live, week-by-week, along with millions of others. I dropped off after S6, then came back after S7 and had the joy of watching the series finale at the Nebulas (officially after the conference) with dozens of other writers and SF/F fans.

More than a few people are writing "Here's what to read next after Game of Thrones" lists, and I am not above joining that trend. The fine folks at Serial Box are offering the first season of the Magic Swordfights + Diplomacy + Divided Loyalties epic fantasy series Born to the Blade (which I created and co-wrote with the amazing team of Cassandra Khaw, Malka Older, and Marie Brennan) for 50% off. You'll get the ebook and audiobook of each of the eleven episodes, and the audio is especially great, with soundtrack/theme song and enhanced audio effects.

Here's a short round-up of reviews of the series:

  • “a complex and fascinating world that is filled with cool shit.” – Liz Bourke for Tor.com
  • “Born to the Blade is the best Fantasy Epic NOT on TV” – Inverse
  • “Above and beyond the rich world and worldbuilding, Underwood and his team bring together an intriguing set of point of view characters and secondary characters to populate that rich world.” – Paul Weimer for Skiffy and Fanty
  • “Born to the Blade is a fast-paced fantasy story that features strong worldbuilding, exciting action sequences, and great characters.” – Speculative Chic
  • ” ‘Arrivals’ starts off the Born to the Blade series in a fun, magic packed story. This opening teases at a larger, complex world where politics involves duels and airborne islands. Recommended.” – Primmlife
  • Winner of the Best Serial of 2018 Waterfall Award.

So if you're looking for a new world of magic, intrigue, and swordplay after leaving Westeros, use the code B2TB at serialbox.com/redeem and save 50% on Born to the Blade.
