Oreo is unsure of this waning summer thing, preferring morning and evening walks. Can't blame him, and honestly, I am grateful for the chance to avoid the heat.

I've been heads-down working on a new project, but Meg and I did make it out to a local game night this week, which was very fun.

I've been thinking a lot about local community and political engagement of late. About my relationship to the place I live and about where I am putting my energy. Like many people, I want to do more, bit so much of the past couple of years for me has been about remaking my schedule into something sustainable rather than burning out.

It's hard to feel like I'm not doing enough, but the last few weeks I've been leaning into joy and using it as a distraction from and life preserver against the screaming abyss of current events. And that's okay. It's a relay race rather than a sprint, and we don't have to burn hard all the time in pushing for a better future.
