Today I'm sharing a draft of a Genrenauts short story for patrons to beta read (at their leisure). It's another prequel story, this time featuring the story of how Mallery joined the team. It's tentatively slated for an as-of-yet-unannounced anthology, but with COVID-times, it's up in the air.

To try to make feedback as helpful as possible, I have two questions. 1. What is the theme of the un-announced anthology this story is earmarked for? 2. Is there a specific type of feedback you want, some area of concern?

It was written with the theme "Origins" in mind. Feedback-wise, I am most interested in general notes about areas the reader found especially cool, any places where they were bored or confused, or parts that may not have made sense (internally or wrt other Genrenauts stories).
