A local game store hosts weekly game nights playing Netrunner, a cyberpunk CCG that was created in the 90s and has since died and been resurrected twice. It was one of my favorite CCGs that I played up through college.

And so, learning that there was a chance to play locally, I grabbed a couple of the basic sets from NISEI, a non-profit collective that has resurrected the game after the Fantasy Flight Games version was discontinued.

Those new basic sets arrived today, so I busted out my original FFG starter set to pull out the cards legal in the NISEI formats.

And then, as a bizarre gift from Past Mike, I discovered that the FFG box had hundreds of old cards from various games - Mechwarrior to Arcadia and more...plus about 400-something original 1990s Netrunner cards from when I played the game the first time around.

I don't think many of those original cards are legal, but it may be fun to sprinkle in a few that are as a reminder of card-flopping days gone by.

I really love the idea of an LCG vs. a CCG. Too bad it ended on Fantasy Flight's watch.
