Hi all,

I've been pretty heads-down in work the last few weeks, thanks to a cool opportunity arising that meant a good bit of extra work with a short time-frame. That work is under an NDA, but I promise you it is very cool and I will talk about it whenever I am allowed.

However, that work sprint was immediately followed by a big crash, leaving me totally wrung out Thursday night and into Friday, which is why I wasn't up for running Valloward last night. But if you haven't been watching the swashbuckling fantasy + magic + intrigue series of Court of Blades I'm GMing for Speculate, you should check it out. You can start from the beginning in this playlist or watch the latest session, which makes a good stand-alone.

Once the revisions on this [redacted] project are done, I'll be back to working on the near-future geeky utopian rom-com project, which has been chugging along pretty well. I'm hoping to get that mostly written before we get too deep into the fall, since I will be traveling three weeks in a row for the New Jersey Web Fest, Big Bad Con, and then a non-working vacation with Meg.

I'm still having a great time GMing, as described in my last essay about leveling up. Turns out that weekly practice + GMing an actual play show at the same time makes for lots of opportunities to level up your game!

As we mentioned over on the Speculate patreon, the show is being featured this weekend at the Rainbow Rollfest, a web festival spotlighting LGBTQIA+ led actual play shows. Our screening is this afternoon (Saturday) at 4pm EDT, and tomorrow at 5pm EDT is the awards show, where we'll find out if we were nominated or won anything! You can watch live to help cheer the show on by tuning in at twitch.tv/rainbowrollfest.

And another bonus for the TTRPG fans among you: I did a couple of streams in the last month about GMing and Critical Role's new RPG Candela Obscura, so be sure to check those out if you haven't already!
