July in Review (Patreon)
Content
I've been busy this month, getting back into the swing of more Patreon-specific things. So here's a round-up of big things from me this month.
July saw the Twitter Succession Wars enter a fever pitch - with a wave of people moving to Bluesky, the release of Meta's Threads, and several dramatic enshittification moves at Twitter aka X because Elon is a mediocre man-child with terrible taste and judgement. I talked a bit more about the challenges this creates for authors here.
I chronicled some of Oreo's month in these posts.
This month's Craft Chat involved talking about being a fan of the players and the characters in RPGs and how to apply that to writing as well.
SAG-AFTRA went on strike, prompting me to talk about how their fight, WGA's fight, and authors' struggles to keep our careers alive are all one battle.
Some movement in the submission process for the Genrenauts RPG led to a development diary update.
And I streamed a read-through of heroic fantasy ttrpg Heroes by Hearthlight.
And in Speculate business, Valloward is now a Minnesota Web Fest official selection as well as being a New Jersey Web Fest official selection! The latest session saw the Messengers of Vorster helping the city deal with the destruction of the storm season.
Valerie, Brandon and I chatted while I played Remnant: From the Ashes and last night the three of us played a rugby plus mechs-like esport in Fight With Spirit. And at the start of the month, most of the Strange Friends assembled to talk about our three-plus years playing ttrpgs together on-stream and off.
