Sorry for the reaction spam today! I figured since I did watch it, I should try to edit this one as well before the Godzilla Minus One movie night, so here it is!

What a nice suprise to have so many Godzilla reactions. The japanese Godzilla movies are very dear to my heart.

The Godzilla suit in this movie is the best looking one IMHO. Godzilla died in the first one. The Godzilla that showed up in Godzilla Counterattacks is the one in all the subsequent movies (?). They are pretty good at alluding to Godzilla's status at the end of the previous movie. So Godzilla wakes up in an iceberg in King Kong vs Godzilla after getting buried in ice in the prior movie and in Mothra vs Godzilla he wakes up on the beach, where he was last seen in King Kong vs Godzilla: each connects to what happens at the end of the prior movie. The characters know about Mothra from her debut movie, with all the details the same except the egg. This movie moves the action out of downtown Tokyo to the open spaces of Japan, undoubtedly a cost-cutting measure. The script and the actors in Mothra vs Godzilla are quite good. I'm not sure which one husbando meant but I bet he means this one. There's a trio of Mothra movies, Mothra Rebirth, from the same time as Godzilla vs Mothra, that might be useful in clarifying the Mothra phenomenon, like Gamera Guardian of the Universe took the audience through that character's history. I hope bunny does some more of these movies and so I can watch them again with her comments and outfits.

Hey Bunny , thanks for reacting to one of the original Godzilla movies , those 2 caterpillars at the end beat the heck out of Godzilla , reminds me of the seventies watching a lot of reruns , kind of wimpy by todays standards , pretty good for 1964 though

I didn't know there was an original Mothra when I watched this one, but YES. I'll certainly have to watch it as well!

bunnytails

I can see why! I want to see more now

bunnytails

I will definitely be doing more of these!

Another great monster movie franchise is Gamera. My kids really liked those.

Again thanks for the reaction! I just binged this and your G54 reaction. There you wondered if future installments would be more just about monsters fighting and doing cool shit. Here you can see that coming into play. Still, incredibly fun. The quality of later Godzilla movies varies a lot. They never really return to the dark, super heavy serious tone of the original (at least not until recently). But they are usually fun, even when they get silly or campy. The old Godzilla movies are dear to my heart for nostalgic reasons. So, I don’t think you are old enough to to be familiar with this but, back in the 70s and 80s local TV stations would have to fill late night programming with their own stuff because their network affiliates wouldn’t have anything to air at those times. Many would, especially on Friday or Saturday nights, show cheaply licensed b-movies. Usually horror, sci-fi, or, you guessed it, kaiju movies. These would be “hosted” by a locally actor doing a horror/comedy character and schtick, making comments about the movie before and after the commercial break. Some went on to become nationally known figures like Elvira and Svenghoolie. (MST3K grew from this tradition) I have very fond memories of sneaking out of my room with my little brother past our bedtime to watch our local “Chiller Theater with Ned the Dead”. The Godzilla movies were our favorite.

I grew up on "Creature Features" with host Bob Wilkins. Great program!

I love it when reactors watch movies and TV shows, and listen to music, from the year I was born.

The Showa Era Kaiju movies did get campier with time, but the Haise Era movies returned to the darker themes. The Millennium Era Godzilla movies were a series of reboots, for the most part.

Obviously it wasn’t during the original airing, but I vaguely remember Elvira.

sigh... I have to admit... these old school giant monster movies were one of the components in my life that inspired me to become a mad scientist. I never achieved mad scientist level.. but I am a mad engineer... almost as good.

LOL... Bunny says she can eat eggs all day every day... Girl... you better get yourself some chickens!

Carlos Stevens

Bunny thinks that Godzilla died in the first move... um... no... no he didn't. I love the roar.... BRAAA uuuuuruUUURRRaaaaaa

Carlos Stevens

Ghidorah... now there was a monster. (yes, I'm planting seeds here)

I don't know... a real world moth... All up in my grill... I don't think I could take it... arms flailing all over the place...
