Star Trek: Continues Episode 11 - "To Boldly Go: Part II" - Full Reaction

You said things so well at the end Bunny, that I don't feel the need to say too much more except I totally agree with you about the show. It was very well done, really exceeded my expectations going in, and a great way to help tie things up and bridge things between The Original Series and the movies. It's always fun watching Star Trek with you, as your so smart and pick things up so easily and see things I never see or thought off. But doing a NEW show with you -- one I've not seen or experienced -- was a double pleasure. Your right in the original show didn't get a proper send off, so the writers here in STC had a gold mine to tap into stuff and help to expand things and bridge things in a very effective way with what happened. While I may have some minor complaints here and there about how they did things, overall I thought this was treated very well. The Enterprise separating like that though -- hoo boy. Do I have a LOT I want to say about that! Sadly most of it would be spoilers, so all I can say is that it is interesting but I don't really love the concept being used here, again for reasons I can't go into yet. It was great for the plot and story, but this flies in the face of everything canon established, and I'm willing to overlook a lot but this seems a bit too far. It's really my biggest complaint with how STC handled and did things. It's not a deal breaker -- I still loved everything -- but I don't feel it was needed and don't like it being included. And the Romulan angle never got really tied up, I thought. Clearly there were internal issues and politics going on here, with the Commander on one side and the Sub Commander on the other, but I'm not sure what was to be gained by trying to start a major war like that. Sure, the Federation is pretty weak right now, with the best starships they have, the Constitution class, being out of order. But the Klingons would probably take the chance of the Romulans going to war to attack themselves, since they hate the Klingons even more then the Federation. And from what little was said in the episodes, the Romulans are in no position right now for a major war. I totally agree about TAS being season 4 and STC being season 5. Also, a lot of fans -- myself included -- consider the computer games 25th Anniversary and Judgement Rites as also being cannon, so they would fit into the 4th or 5th season somewhere also. Hopefully you'll play them at some point, as the writing is REALLY great, all of the original cast did voice work, the music is all from the show, and the games are just fun to play. Later Star Trek shows left that timeline more open -- you probably know this already, but TNG, DS9, and Voyager EACH ran for seven seasons. In conclusion, thanks for doing this -- I'm VERY eager to get to TNG also, as that's the show I have the most nostalgia for and the one I grew up watching -- but I'm glad you decided to look at stuff in the expanded universe also. It's a shame the rules about fan production got tightened up and put an end to things like this. Hard to believe this was made 10 years ago. I'm SURE there's more recent Star Trek fan stuff out there, but it would have a very high bar to reach. As of me writing this, we're doing Star Trek 3 next, so see you there for the ongoing voyages of Star Trek and I'm glad you've developed the same love for the franchise that I have.

A wonderful and heartfelt reaction. The final moments lead directly into The Motion Picture. The Motion Picture theme suggested it's not over, but the beginning of a new chapter. I would suggest reading the novelization of the Motion Picture, by Gene Roddenberry himself for a description of Kirk's life and state of mind post Five year mission.

Thanks bunny! After TOS and TAS both getting cancelled with out notice this episode is the first one that treated ST as a saga. An incredible series on a high level, watching bunny reacts, are a great achievement.

Congratulations on completing your Bachelors Degree in TOS. Now it is time for your post graduate TOS work with the movies.

I have always felt that the J. J. movies are vastly underrated. The first is fantastic. You would love it. The second is very good. Perhaps not to the level of the first, but far better than most of the TOS movies. The third J. J. movie is... The first and the second were very good. If nothing else, It is worthwhile to see the beginnings of the TOS characters. The Abrams movies start well before the TOS series. It is nice to get an understanding of the origins.

Thanks so much for the journey through STC. It was my first time with this series and I really enjoyed every episode as you reacted to them. I'm glad I made the decision to finally give STC a serious look, and you were instrumental in that decision. Ten years ago I just completely dismissed STC. I wouldn't even give it a try. I felt it would just be a complete waste of time and really terrible. Man, was I ever wrong!!

as someone who championed you to watch this show, i thank you. now as i have said before, please make time for yourself and watch the behind the scenes stuff, just to learn of the amount of research and dedication they all put in to make this show. you'll be surprised im sure.

That’s exactly how I have seen the original series now, as having 5 seasons. As I’ve mentioned before, you’ve been such a pioneer in how you’ve watched these shows, it would be great if you stayed with Spock, Chaple, and Pike and even a Kirk in watching STRANGE NEW WORLDS. It’s rapidly becoming one of my favourite shows in the Star Trek universe. But I understand your reasoning why you need to get to STTNG. But I’m really sorry I won’t be joining you on this trek apart from YouTube. It’s nothing personal, promise. I’ve just seen STTNG so many times now with other reactors, must be in double figure’s. I’ll watch the movies and say goodbye until we meet in the stars again.

So late to this party, but my eyes have finally recovered. Bunnytails is SHARP AS A TACK! Dropping not only callbacks, but episode titles!! Thank you, Bunnytails, for sharing STC with us, I don’t know if I would have seen them all without you, but I totally agree TAS is Season 4, and STC is Season 5. it is canonical that Enterprise was the sole surviving starship, and the Enterprise arrowhead symbol was adopted for all of Starfleet. Looking forward to the STC interview, and the movies!
