Blade Runner - Full Reaction!

Love this movie, but i can also understand that it's not for everybody. Very curious to see what you thought of it!

Great reaction. The book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, on which Blade Runner is based, is fascinating but it is very different from the film. Total Recall and Minority Report are also based on books by Philip K Dick. The Matrix covers similar ideas.

Happy to see that you enjoyed it. What you said about the music, visuals and atmosphere is what makes it one of my favorite movies ever. Watching it in a dark room really immerses you in that dark gloomy world. Roy's monologue at the end always gives me the exact same reaction as you had, a smile because how how beautiful it is but a tear in my eye at the same time as to how sad it is. That monologue was also improvised by the actor by the way. I had a good feeling that you would like it because of how similar our tastes are, and 2049 is perhaps the most faithfull sequel ever because it looks and feels so close to this one on every level. So i'm definitely looking forward the your reaction to it down the line, no rush of course.

Visually this film was used as ‘inspiration’ for many films after. The VFX still hold up today… I can point you to so some making ofs if your curious

Blade Runner 2049 is a worthy follow up. Any plans to watch?

Graff says, "... but then again, who does?" then leaves him an origami unicorn, as if he knows Decgard has his visions. Deckard, too, is a replicant. (Waiting for the sound of mind being blown)

William Terry

I think the replicants have a fuel system based on relativity. I assume a power core in each replicant. Vangelis is a great choice to provide the music. Unfortunately it's so pervasive that it sometimes looks like an MTV video. Ford is at the top of his looks! Amazing cast also. Joanna Cassidy has one of the many great set pieces. Add some Mandarin decor and opium den vibes and you get a film noir aesthetic that goes good with Ford's Sam Spade call back. Fascinating! Terrific reacts bunny! Thanks!

I was like you and hadn't seen this movie all my life for no good reason. I didn't like it nearly as much as you but I really enjoyed the watch along. If you haven't read any Philip K Dick (the guy that wrote the book this was based on, and Total Recall and a lot of other stuff), I highly recommend checking out all his books and short stories Great sci-fi ideas told in a really funny and emotionally authentic way.

I did read "Do Androids Dream..." after watching this one, but nothing else by him yet!
