I was prepared for a fight between neo and ruby where ruby was just gonna go insane on neo not this at all. I wonder now if ruby is going to see the blacksmith again and be reborn. I hope not because I like the way ruby is now but just seeing her face when neo had penny talk like that was just something else.

This episode broke me just everything especially ruby's facial expressions these past few episodes have been amazing and sad all at the same time. Love this show. Ruby topped Weiss as favorite character for me currently but Weiss is still definitely second. Yangs eye shot reminds me of ruby's Pyrrha scene eye shot and it just makes me even more sad bro.

A few things to mention about this episode. 1. Little will likely go through Ascension along with-- 2. Ruby. The theme of becoming someone new; of Ascension; has been piled onto Ruby the entire volume so far. From the drug trip, to the conversation with the Blacksmith, to all the revelations about Ascension and what it does; erasing the memories of the previous form but creating a new being to take its place... It all makes sense. And there's that one key line from the trailer we haven't heard yet... About shedding Ruby Rose like an old coat. I've had the theory that the reflection in the axe was who Ruby has yet to be, and it's looking more and more likely that I was right. There's two chapters left, so it's possible Summer will appear at some point, but that reflection, which is the same person we saw at the crossroads within the Punderstorm... That's a new design. And unless they were going to give us big revelations of what happened to Summer by having her physically appear, in person, it doesn't make sense for Summer to have been redesigned. And the design looks a lot closer to Ruby than it does to Summer. So much red and those rose badges... If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but if I'm right... I get bragging over all those who doubted me. 3. The vines appear to cover the holes left by someone or something returning to the tree for Ascension. We saw those same vines in the very first chapter when Weiss and Blake found Gambol Shroud. Which means someone had found it before them and had ascended right there on the spot. Or just maybe... Penny's dead body? If that's the case, did she Ascend? Is some part of Penny still alive with no memory of her past lives and no Maiden powers? Many questions to answer in so little time. But one thing's for sure... That Cat has got to go down. He's got to be killed; ripped apart by a Jabberwalker... If the real one is still around, that is. Only a Jabberwalker can kill in the Ever After, so I'm assuming it also Ascended at some point. But if the Cat makes it to Remnant... All hope is lost. Gh0xt, your ability to reach has spilled over onto me... And I hate it. Anyway, good night, my dude. May the trauma and pain stay with you until next week, and may the chair seek witness protection.

When I tell you this episode completely broke me… I was shaking and crying and in total denial of everything. Then I was just sad, with no words, I had so many thoughts but couldn’t speak them. CRWBY truly outdid themselves here. I’m so damaged but so damn happy to be on this ride!

So like... the last two episodes need to be L O N G. It's really looking like this season will be it for Neo. I don't know if she'll come to realize that Ruby wasn't all to blame and make some sort of sacrifice so the rest of them can leave, or if she'll die without coming to that realization. She could also be gone already, or maybe she'll live on in villain mode, who knows... So yeah, I don't even know why I'm speculating. But where does she go from here? Also, confirmation that the Ever After was created by the Brothers? Maybe like a trial run for Remnant? Would make sense why they're connected via a space like the vaults, between worlds, like where the god of light first met Ozma. And Little is not dead! No shot! Little will ascend and come back as Little 2.0, which is the same as regular Little since they haven't yet fulfilled their purpose of guiding Ruby! Naww now that I think about it, Neo really gotta go by the end of this season. Unforgiveable. Everyone wanted to see Pyrrha again... and Torchwick... and Penny... no one really clamored for Leo... but yeah, not like this. ARE YOU HAPPY FNDM?? Isn't this what you wanted?? (Wait real quick, how did Neo even know about Leo, she wasn't in that season 🤔) And finally... Poor Ruby. This is character development 6 seasons in the making, so of course it needed to happen, but having Ruby look her teammates in the face while she ends her own life is something I can confidently say I did NOT want to see happen. I hope she's put on a path toward healing by the end of this season. I cannot take a cliffhanger and year or more wait if Ruby's still teetering by the end.

Ough- what an episode. I'm coming up with so many theories and reaches and it's going to be AGONIZING waiting for next Saturday. -Take notice that Little fell with Ruby into the tree. Not at the same time, *with* her. Same pit, same vines. That, coupled with the imagery from the Jinxy episode of Little being lined up with the jar when Jinxy asked her for a jar-full of hope, makes me think that maybe- just maybe- Ruby's going to be the only one to come out of the other side of this Ascension. I figure Little's going to (willingly!) choose to become her 'hope' in a more literal sense. Like- living on in her kinda thing. -I could see Cat's plan to use a human body to reach Remnant working *if* this was much earlier in the series than this. They'd have made for a really interesting secondary antagonist possibly rivaling Salem herself. As it is though, I think they'll serve as the final boss of this volume, especially for Jaune. But before they're taken down, I do think we'll get some kind of massively important information dropped by them, possibly something that could be used against Salem? The writing this episode made a very specific point of interrupting Cat before they could finish talking about their need to know about their 'creator'. -I thought it was really fascinating (in an awful, horrific, evil way) how subtly and cleverly Neo filled in the gaps of her knowledge about the dead characters. ---Pyrrha and Ozpin would've been the only ones there that she actually had the full stories on, so Pyrrha jumped in the most and Ozpin was used for the big Oscar moment. ---She would've realistically known the *least* about Lionheart and Clover. But with Lionheart she knew Ruby had at least played *some* part in his downfall, and even though Clover had died to Qrow and Tyrian, she could at least assume they worked together. So she knew they were worth *something* for hurting Ruby, but specifically had neither of them speak so they wouldn't ruin the immersion by saying something wrong. ---Then there's Ironwood and Penny, neither of which she knew for sure were even *dead*. Ironwood was MIA during the bridge fight and didn't die until after the fact, but since Neo and Ruby fell together, Ruby couldn't possibly know for sure either. So he was included, but to make it hit even more Neo had him play on her guilt over Atlas. In that sense he was there to represent the Kingdom more than himself. And Penny... *Penny*. Again, died after Neo fell, but the others could've (and did) communicated what happened when they met up, so it wasn't as 'safe' to guess with her. So she opened with what she *did* know, which was just as good: the Vytal festival. Even if it wasn't permanent, Ruby absolutely *had* seen her die there. Then because Neo didn't know for sure, but she could've been gauging Ruby's reaction as she went, she gambled and framed it as a question: 'I died in Atlas too, didn't I?' If she was wrong it wouldn't necessarily harm the illusion too much since she left it open, but she could tell she was *right* so she dug in even deeper on her. Clever, subtle, downright petty and evil. -While we're at it, Oscar makes an appearance as the first currently-living character Neo creates here. I think that's really interesting- she could've pulled that little bait-and-switch trick with a lot of characters, like her teammates, Jaune, Maria, Qrow, etc. But she chose *Oscar* specifically. She'd used him against Ruby when they were falling into Ever After too. I wonder what she's been seeing in him to consider him more important to Ruby than her family members and oldest friends? There's also the fact that Oscar is the one person Ruby's really, truly opened up to about her insecurities and stood on equal footing with, especially in the dojo scene back in Volume 5. Neo using him as the final nail in the coffin this episode SCREAMS at me that he's important enough to her to be key in her recovery next volume. Anyway, that's my full-length essay about a single episode. Hope everyone's doing okay after watching, and that the wait for next week isn't too painful.

Neo knows about Leo because, well, the death of a Huntsman Academy Headmaster is sure to be common knowledge. And even if not, I'm sure Salem mentioned it randomly off screen. Probably how she knows about Ozpin and Pyrrha as well. Both common knowledge, but also talked about off screen as a form of gloating by the other villains. Likely how she'd know about Clover too, since Tyrian LOVES to gloat. But she shouldn't know about Penny or Ironwood. She fell before Jaune killed Penny, and Ironwood died as Atlas crashed into the ground and the kingdom flooded. Which means she's assuming both of them are dead with zero evidence.

I doubt the two will merge at all. Probably just going to be one or the other. But not both. Sure, the hair and face do LOOK like Summer, but from what we've seen of them, they look almost exactly alike. And from what we know of Ascension, a character's age can change. If a King can turn into a Prince, it doesn't seem far fetched that a girl can turn into a woman (but still with no memories of the life before). But I must admit, I did have a crackpot theory back before we saw how Jaune got so old that Ruby will turn into Summer and go back in time and be her own mom, which is... Well, it's insane, and there's no way that's gonna happen.

@Joshua Swanson I just wrote up a whole thing, but I think she played off not knowing for sure about Ironwood and Penny really well. She didn't get to see Ironwood die, but she also knew Ruby would have no way of knowing she was bluffing. She could pair him up with attacking her guilt over Atlas in general and let him loose pretty easily. Penny would've been trickier, since at least Weiss fell after and knew the truth while she didn't, but that's why she started with the time she knew would work- the Vytal Festival- then left her death in Atlas a question. If she was wrong about Atlas, no big deal, but she could tell she was right so she dug in deeper.

I am having so much trouble gathering thoughts but there is at least one thing i'd like to mention about Neo. Since the fall of Beacon shes been endlessly chasing after Ruby hoping to get some sort of closure or revenge for Torchwick. But after finally getting what she wanted after over two years in seeing Ruby die/ascend she just kinda...shuts down. Even the color in her eyes is duller as if she's lost the one thing keeping her going. Hell her theme in Volume 6 is called One Thing that thing being Torchwick, and she replaced that one thing with wanting Ruby dead in front of her. And upon getting that one thing, there's no celebration or much of anything really. And I don't think she ever actually thought Ruby killed Torchwick. Seeing as how she had a pretty good idea of who everyone was and how they acted/spoke, she most likely knows Ruby doesn't have the heart to kill. She was just the only other one there and she needed someone, anyone to blame so she pointed at Ruby and made it her mission to kill her. It makes me wonder, If at any point after landing in the Ever After, Neo had decided to not let the irrational thoughts of grief make her decisions for her, would she have chosen ascension over another however much more time of one person being her reason to live?

Further makes me think little could be penny ascended but that would go against how maiden powers are transferred as penny is suppose to be apart of winter now

Penny's previous aura and soul are a part of Winter, but if the dead body Ascended, then a new soul would be created in place of the old one. Afterall it's not the same Penny. However, I'm very skeptical of the theory Penny turned into Little. Or ANY human turned into Little. As far as we've seen, which isn't much, someone can only Ascend into a similar being or form as their previous self, like the King Ascending into the Prince but likely still being made of porcelain.

The gods - The gods creates remnant after, the cat gave that a way. - I think the ever after was a biome experiment - we will find out how oz found the doors to use the same time space for the vaults, if you look at each one we have seen they are a different biome like the ever after We still have 2 more intro scenes left of interest dark ruby on the bridge and jaune on fire The bridge - Dark ruby on the bridge is something I don’t know because it is literally the same bridge from the punderstrom Ruby - Ruby will ascend but we will see dark ruby first, - little will be the key to her being the hero she wants to be however. - The review we saw in the mirror, and if the weather was actually, she wants to be who she can, and probably who she will become. - I don’t think she’ll lose all of her memories, but if she did, that would set up a pretty crazy trip in the next to volume and I think she will eventually get them back if she does. - She could in fact use the ascension as a learning experience, and reject becoming someone new. Little - Little didn’t die. She glowed with ruby and fell with her - She will be the key to whoever or whatever Ruby comes by there she stays the same becomes different, becomes a hybrid, losses her memory or not. - I also have a theory that little is in fact penny, because we found the vines over rices sword in obvious sign that somebody had already ascended however that would go against what happens when made, and how was the transfer and how she supposed to be a part of winter… - My other theory is little is her mom and was In fact summer we saw in the reflections bc little was there. Jaune on fire - Jaune will attempt to sacrifice himself so the gang can escape and keeping the cat/ Neo at bay perhaps by setting the tree on fire.. - I don’t know if he will ascend, i think he will but his death flags are very much in the table. It would be poetic because he’s finally saving someone in-line he’s been able to do in the past but I hope that’s not the case.. just preping my mental.. - This new ruby whether she’s dark ruby or hybrid with her mom or just a brand new ruby with might see it as a logical choice because we could potentially be seeing a cold calculating ruby. Neo - will not make it at all I think unless her final showdown with John and the cat results in her, potentially ascending with jaune. Lewis/ Alex/ juniper We will finally figure out who juniper is, what happened to Alex and Lewis… IlLewis could possibly have been one of os’s lives or sacrificed himself so Alex could escape. I think Alex shared the same fate as Neo with the cat only she tricked him… juniper I have a feeling is some one or something close to jaune or lewis though I’m not sure what or who. Exit - They will exit through one of the vaults End - It’s going to end with them either escaping or being very close… - my theory on the cliffhanger is we’re going to see Ruby but we’re not gonna know what kind of person she is yet does she have a memory is not etc. and we’re gonna be wondering if John actually sacrifice himself and did he ascend and also neos fate will be unknown… they could be really fucked up and the cat could escape to remnant…. Vol 10 - It will set up vol 10 pretty nicely for a couple we can’t have a certain what happened in remnant why they were gone and with them immediately returning.. they can go crazy and make the entire volume 10 and recap of what happened and ending with a return to main Salem would have to win or something that really have to happen..

Sorry for the long reach lol… TLDR ruby ascends and accepts or rejects the tree loading or keeping her memories. Little is Lenny or her mom ascended and becomes her literal guide in life. Jaune sacrifices himself fighting the cat/ Neo and dies or ascends. Neo dies or ascends. The gang is able to escape at the very end but we don’t see them return to remnant yet. Unless they go the dark timeline of Salem already won or the cat/ Neo escapes to remnant together then all bets are fucking off

I kinda feel bad for yang even up to this episode she didn’t understand why ruby got upset and even got mad at her for it (pissed me off) it took her literally watching ruby killing herself to finally get it through they tick blond hair just how hurt her sister was good in weise and jaune for understanding… and Blake, yea no shit she was OBVIOUSLY upset..

It’s been a day and I’m flabbergasted still. So much to talk about that’s already been said but I will say this. The most painful part of this episode and that is still seared in my memory, is Yang watching an almost apologetic Ruby, effectively end her life in front of her. That is, in my opinion, without a doubt the most painful moment of this entire series, volumes 1-9, and I don’t think it’s particularly close. I’m still just in shock man. What a season.

Honestly, of all the things that happened, what messed me up the most after Little getting stomped for the sole reason that Neo knew it would probably push Ruby over the edge....was Yang watching her little sister, the girl she raised like a mother, kill herself in front of her. I just....cant.... Man, Yang and Blake had finally dealt with all their problems and were finally happy...and now Yang has this whole can of worms opened in front of her. Even if they save her and even if Yang somehow contributes the most, this moment, this image is gonna haunt Yang for the rest of her life. Oof. They just cucked Yang back on the list of people who need therapy. :/ That said, as much as I liked Neo until now, I don't see any redemption for her after this. There's lines you don't cross and bullying someone into suicide is one of them, its unforgibable. And even if Ruby somehow forgives her, Yang won't. I wouldn't. Sorry, but **** you, Neo.

Little Is Not Dead!!!! I refuse to believe that this cute little mouse is dead after all they’ve done for Ruby and being her little ray of hope and sunshine in this crap life Ruby experienced in the past year (or so)! And this may sound psychotic, but I rewatched the episode 4x hoping for some sort of hope that something good will come out of this nightmare. And I saw it! After Ruby drank the tree leaves tea and started glowing, Little started glowing. That means something and just like the Cat said, Afterans don’t die, they ascend! And the fact they glowed with Ruby, must mean that they’ll ascend together and become something better than before!!!
