Massive disclaimer!!!

When recording videos, I usually separate my commentary from the actual footage I’m reacting to.

However, I hit a snag and both audio sources were combined. Which means that my commentary is far louder than the movie, so I highly suggest you listen to this at a somewhat lower level as there are points to where I scream, talk loudly, etc..

I greatly apologize, but I’d rather give you this option rather than re-recording the entire movie or tossing it all together

Anyways, this was a very solid movie and enjoy 🖤

so the movie doesn't make a big point of it beyond a couple of allusions (Wonder Woman saying the League can fit the team with some equipment and Weiss directly saying the gun she had was Mr Freeze's) but team RWBY essentially borrowed equipment that belonged to villains that the League evidently confiscated. as mentioned, Weiss has Mr Freeze's gun, Blake gets Deathstroke's katana and staff, Yang gets Heat Wave's gun and Ruby gets Scarecrow's scythe

so the reason RWBY are in their normal outfits for the final fight is because they're all inside the holo trap, basically a small virtual reality space that Cyborg coded to be able to utilise Dust (kinda similar to the simulation from the first movie, but only applying to RWBY themselves); so basically it becomes a small pocket reality that works partly on Remnant's rules, and puts them back in their normal bodies (and so at their most effective because they have Aura, Semblances and Dust and their usual equipment - all stuff they're most experienced with using). the trap was originally meant to simulate the city they were in so Kilg%re and Watts wouldn't notice initially but Kilg%re started cycling through locations similarly, the Grimm themselves throughout the movie aren't real Grimm (they don't dissolve like Grimm normally do, they just lose cohesion and turn into black sludge, which is probably some kind of nanotech), which is why Watts and Kilg%re can control them, why they can adapt and regenerate and why Cyborg is able to hack into them - they don't really explain this but they do leave the pieces there for viewers to pick up on. i love the movie, i just think an extra ten minutes to clarify some points wouldn't have gone amiss

For them bringing some low tier villains, I was hoping to see Condiment King or maybe Killer Moth.

My one issue with the movie was the Watts stuff. Don't get me wrong, we were all guessing he was going to be involved, but the motive for him just didn't really fit imo. The whole "remaking the world in my image" stuff was a little over-the-top, but I guess is fairly in line with his egoism. But him going to so much trouble to kill RWBY when not one member of the team ever fought or interacted with him in the show seemed out of place. They didn't have any sort of history (it was even CINDER that caused his death), they were just on opposite sides, so it's kind of weird hearing him declare he's got this vendetta against them. And the muscular robot body was definitely a choice lol Of course, my biggest complaint is that this is how they confirm he's dead, at least assuming that much is canon. It was left vague in the show so I was hopeful he'd make a comeback. But maybe your semblance will save the day! Other than that, fun movie lol Now everyone, let's storm WB and demand they greenlight volume 10, I mean holy hell, what's taking them so long?
