Hi Hickory Patrons! 🍂

I hope you're doing well.

I'm eager to dig into one of the major aspects of the chapter I've been working on: RO vulnerability. (Edit: I have since finished this chapter. I'm now prepping for the next one and April's Patreon content. I'll get into that more in our progress update though. :D)

Specifically, this section of Book Two showcases the relationship development across TFS's romance routes based on your choices and their burns/builds. It's an intense chapter, one that includes a downright tormenting nightmare sequence along with a visit to what remains of the Returning Visitor's childhood home. It's a doozy! 🤠 My goal with this chapter and its placement in the overall book's plot is to allow each route to have a different emotional feel.

What's said and done will make it one of the key romantic moments of Book Two.

!!!! Oh I feel like a squirrel jumping from branch to branch at the thought!!!! I love how you write both hurt and comfort and I'm very much looking forward to running through all of these 🫶🏻💙

😶 I am SO calm. I am not clawing at the walls like a cat demanding something.

Time to overthink those snippets until the chapter releases lmao! So far the JR and Mal are the ones im most 👁👁 at for different reasons Yes J's line did make me say ouch out loud. (Ignore the fact I play JR with J as first kiss to make the R angst worse shhh) Mal. Mal. Mal please. WHAT DID WE SEE??? IM SO CURIOUS UGHHHHHH And the fact it only happens if we choose Mal as early as possible??? My brain is buzzing with theories. IT FELT ALMOST AS OUR OWN THOUGHT???? WHY WHAT WHEN WHYYY??? Shout out to the ??? that made us get a romance milestone with the nightmares. World's best wingperson (?) by complete accident 🥰💜

It's encouraging to know that you're excited for this, but even more so that you're going to explore all of the routes! 😁💚 Thank you for what you said about how I handle both hurt and comfort. The balance of this section in particular is important me due to the nightmare being one of the scariest to date in TFS. (It'll depend on the person, but there are parts that are more emotional than unsettling given the topics.) So, to have the comfort as a balm and respite was my aim. All of the feels! :D

Your comments are such moods! 😻 I genuinely can't wait for you to read these sections and grow even closer to the characters. :D

I return your 👁👁 with a pair of my own after reading your reasons! (I've got to admit I didn't expect that you'd play the JR route with J as the first kiss to impact the R angst. *stares at your sideblog Tumblr url, but also I'm a fellow angst enthusiast (as you can likely tell) so I see beyond it*) J's line making you say 'ouch' out loud is a good sign! Oof, Mal might eventually be able to indulge that curiosity; however, it runs a risk and won't be easy. Yes, there are certain scenes moving forward that are solo Mal-mancer exclusive that play out differently! There are different overlays and ways to handle their romance, though so it's certainly not the 'right' way. There isn't one! It's just that if you've chosen them you get more Mal (as a treat? 😜) instead of your RO who may be in slight conflict with Mal. (You then get a different Mal scene.) Lol, the ??? actually does end up lowkey scaring the MC into the arms of their RO(s) in this instance. I bet they have thoughts on this though. >.>

LOL Im lowkey proud I surprised you on this :3 Im a person of multitudes after all (and love to psychologically torture my favorite characters). It makes the Comfort in hurt/comfort hits harder what can i say REALLY looking foward to those exclusive Malmancer scenes. I gotta play at least one solo Mal playthrough for sure. Im also sure the angst will be great LOL I cant feel bad about the ??? tho, this whole operation was their idea Maybe they should go easier on the nightmares and maybe that wont happen ;) (not going to happen but a guy can dream)

That interaction... that would solidify Phoebe. That would be what made her decide "I need to pull away from Mal no matter how hard. Bee needs all of me."

👀👀👀👀👀👀 sorry I put so many eyes because of the Mal variation and the MC just happened to spend the night at the warehouse... you know... if they wanted 🤭 IT'S COMING UP SO SOON but also, do I even need to say it? I am so utterly weak for Ruby, I don't even care if she drenches poor January in cold water, the way she wonders if she made it worse. And nooooo, the MC's struggles and how J hides their face right after, I can'tttttt. S's first kiss (kinda) right after a nightmare feels so fitting for their character. And Bee... the mutual comfort of Bee assuring the MC that they're still there and the MC reaffirming that they're together.
