first of all, I feel really bad for not being too active. Sorry D:
About two weeks ago I got myself new hardware and last week I did a fresh install of Windows 10 on a new hard drive. However, I did make a mistake in backing up my Unreal projects and did not copy the latest version but the one before that. So I essentially lost all the VR functionality that I've implemented. So that set me back a bit. I did spent most of today getting all the functionality back and at least now it's a little more refined than when I first made it. Besides that, I have been working on a few smaller tweaks, bug fixes and I've made the base for a new map that someone suggested to me. I still have to find and fix that bug that keeps you from doing inputs after interactions with a giant. I am quite confident though (if I can find that bug) that I should have a new version ready by the end of next week.
Random fact about developing for VR:
You can't have a 2D user interface.
I never thought about this before developing for VR myself but you can't draw 2D elements on the screen. A VR headset has two screens that look into the 3D world from different angles. You could technically only add it to one screen, so you'd have to close one eye to look at it properly. I had to put all 2D elements (menus etc.) on 3D objects in front of the camera and make that work. Crosshairs won't work either in the traditional way.
tl;dr: Setback on the developing of Giant's Sandbox, properly a new version next week, developing for VR is weird.
