James, I actually read the book in dual color print before I saw the movie. If you ever get a chance you should get a physical copy (make sure you get the version with two print colors, if you can (theres another version where the "book" is in italics, but it'snot the same feel really, imo.) I know you prefer audiobooks nowadays, but trust me, you'll love reading the book the old fashioned way. I think I can say this without spoiling anything. There's some differences from the book to the movie.

I'm so glad you liked this movie, James. This is a childhood favorite of mine, and I enjoyed getting to watch it with you. The song at the beginning, titled the same as the film, The Neverending Story, is both--it was written for the film, but because the film became such a box office smash, the song had a radio version that got a ton of airplay and became as big a hit as the movie. This has sequels. Don't touch them. They're the kind of sequels where they were trying to recreate the magic of this film, but they're missing the heart and charm this movie had, and they just don't work. The closest you will get to another movie like this would be The Dark Crystal, a gorgeous film from 1982, with an extraveganza of puppetry and practical effects you would just love, but you'd probably find it very slow. If you can get past the older movie pacing and some of the music, you'd love it. It's a beautiful story that might be worth your time for the puppetry and the practical effects alone. I'd also highly recommend you react to The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe. Considering your love of books and fantasy, you may have heard of it. The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe movie is based on one of the stories in the Narnia series by C.S. Lewis. There is an older version from the 80s that's terrible, so please make sure it's the Walt Disney version from 2005. It has gorgeous music and lots of special effects. Not all of them hold up, but many do, and I think you'd adore the story.
