The Muse (Patreon)

Ok so this was kind of unexpected but hear me out :

l’ve been experimenting different directions with my art lately. Chun-li was a blast to do, but I‘m starting to feel like I need to branch out a little bit. I want to have more storytelling in my work.

In recent years I have been very much focused on making a living with my art. This implied me trying to figure out what the audience wanted, what worked with the algorithm, etc… and although I have had successes that I’m very proud of, I‘m still not in a place where money isn’t a pressing issue for me anymore.

And that’s completely on me. I am not a good salesman. 

Ultimately, having this goal of “making it” online meant that I always tailored my art to what I thought would sell, whether consciously or not, I always have other people in mind and worry about how my Art will be received. But as a good friend of mine pointed out : I don’t have to be anyone but myself in my art, and I don’t have to try to conform to anyone’s expectations (you know who you are).

So. I have decided not to rely on my art anymore for my main source of income. I’m going to get a job somewhere so that I can be at peace and shield my creative practice from the pressure. If I can get people to join this Patreon, sell a few items here and there or get a commission every now and then, great. But I’m not relying on this anymore.

What does that changes for you ? Pretty much nothing. I will keep posting new art and WIPs, character polls and tutorials. There will still be the Muse pack at the end of the month. You can still come to me for advice, redlining or whatever help I can give you about your art. 

It’s more of change in my mindset. 

You might also see my art take unexpected turns and shifts in style, themes , or whatever. Just be aware that these can be of a more mature nature and might include Not Suitable For Work content (nudity, sex and the likes). It is a 18+ page after all !

Now about the artwork itself :

The girl with the blue hair is the Muse, or M. She’s been roaming the earth since the beginning of humanity. She’s a shapeshifter who visit men and women alike, sometimes at random, sometimes with a goal in mind. She takes the appearance of their dearest desires and gives herself to them. The rest of the time, she hangs out with her trusty sidekick : a mystical dildo that‘s been with her since the dawn of times, or she can be visiting the other Gods around the globe.

Maybe I’ll do short stories of her adventures in comics. Those who have been following me for awhile know that I am fond of the Tarot and have been meaning to draw it for a long time. When I finished this piece, I couldn’t help but see card 1 - the Magician with all of his tools around him and the large circular hat. So maybe the short stories will have a connection with the Tarot. To me, spiritually and sexuality go together and fuel each other. This project could be the embodiment of both. Of course it’s just an idea so far, but I just wanted to share !
