Recorded this during a work stream today. The breakdown bits are supposed to be "metal" but with acoustic guitar. How do you feel about that? Is it terribly out of place, or "neat"?

Lyrics:

Chorus:

C C/D           D

Got one toe over the line, breakin out

C/D D      C

bringin’ up overtime. Who can decide

G

what set of ears they want to

F   C G D

hear that siren call

C/D     D         C/D

gonna hit rewind. Changin’ faces like you

D    G

change your mind. I am,

   F  C D | C/D | D | C/D

I am the animal.

Rock breakdown - D 8 bars (4 halftime bars)

| Dm | Dm..D/C| x4

Verse 1:

Dm

Think I’ve been here before,

This skin feels so familiar,

   C

but was I lookin with,

    G Dm

a different set of eyes.

Dm

Are these the same feet that are

walkin’ this trail again

C     G

something about this air,

   Dm

gives me pause

G      F Dm

Why chew with the same teeth

given the option?

G A

Why not make a change

F F F F C

Gotta let me feel it again!

Chorus

Interlude - | D | D..D/C| x4   last chord: G

Bridge:

D (soft pickin’)

There are mountains crumblin’ over

There are seas that rise and fall

Maybe they won’t recognize me but you

F C D

Can’t fool ‘em all

D

While the moon goes through its phases

and the seasons tend to change

Be it curse or be it a miracle

F C D Last time: F C G……. F

why remain the same? (repeat 3x)

Verse 2:

D5

I think I’ve been here before

these feathers seem to lift me

C

but can I descend and

G D

hold the earth again?

D5

been on the same streak that had me

stuck inside my mind, thinkin’ all the time

C  G

whether anyone in the world can

D C

really know my name.

Chorus

Speaking as a cowboy coyote, this is pretty awesome. :) Happy to weigh in on the "breakdown bits", though like I'm not sure exactly which bits those are. :p Thank you for another awesome song that's a bit different from what I've come to expect from you. :)

Nice! I think it all blends well. I think I see what you mean about the breakdowns; if I'm understanding it right it certainly works well.
