What do you guys think? Does this work if the words are obstructed? Will people see "go at".Also gold or no gold

Will E.

i vibe with 4 but I like the gold background

DoomSpartan

The fourth one looks good!

Christian Alexander

imo the one without the words obstructed or divided is best. #2 But I could see merit in the others as well.

J

#2 is better aesthetically but #3 is more clickable

N7Warrior

I think if you put words behind her , you should use a connecting font. Otherwise front. I think white is better since that's more favourable to pink which I think is more relevant to her iconic aesthetic

Tess Raunig

2 is best for me, but all of the unobstructed options work. And definitely gold.

Salvador

The 3rd and 4th read like GO AT (her head acting as a space) The first is focusing on her breasts at the expense of readability The second one is the most legible and is not needlessly sexual. Gold/no gold is preference; I dislike the gold. ETA: without knowing the contents of the video, I actually shouldn’t say ‘needlessly sexual’ since, well, sex appeal is a huge part of her performance and the video might touch on that

Shawn Woodall

First one, I like the letters obstructed. If not that one it’s the second one

MD

I like #2 and #4. I don't think the gold works because of the era of the photo. 5 star chick came out when all the girls (including me) were heavy into bright colors. The white makes the pink pop.

Sean Riley

#2 white background.

Emily Stuart

I think #2 is probably the most clear. If you want to go with the gold background, I’d consider outlining the text in a darker color.

Michael Bilica

#4, It comes out and grabs you for sure

Katie Fitter

I like 1. Her being in front of the letters is powerful and gives the impression that she's the GOAT and doesn't need to spell it out for you. Otherwise #2. I see GO AT in #3 and I don't love the gold.

Human Meat

Yeah, #2 or the other option for a #1 variation is to make her smaller so you see a bit more of the letters.

Samantha Duke

First or second looks best to me. Actually feels more impactful with her standing in front of the word, like she's literally ahead of it. I dunno design but splitting the word up always throws me. Like the way the white background pops too

Adeline White

I think the first one looks best!

Jamie G

#2 with the white background

James White

I dont like any. 1 has too much word blocked. 2 has too much of her blocked 3 and 4 has the word split which just looks horrible. I would make the font slightly smaller, put the word in front, but centered beneath the bosom. But to quote T1J. Das just me do.

Asterian Monarch

I like #1 the best. I think GOAT has become widely known enough for it to be clear that's what you're saying, even if it's obscured. I also think the algorithm would favor #1 over #2 (though I would default to your judgement on that, since your algorithm knowledge is definitely more up to date than mine). And I think the white background helps the text and image pop more than the gold.

Alan Wiggs

I like the third, but the gold background is great

superscott

2nd one for me - goat in front on the white background.

Thelovely1

The last one, no gold

Kevin William Walker

I like #1. For what it's worth, if you make it 'G.O.A.T.' it will be pretty clear whether or not it is obstructed or spaced out

Michael D Fronk

I am a big fan of the gold one personally

Reb

I like #1 and #2, but leaning towards #1.

Jeff G

can 2 with a gold background be an option?

Raine

#1 is the best imo.

Damanique

I'm leaning towards 2 with gold and making the letters that cover her more transparent maybe.

OhShazbot

1 took me a second to parse, not sure if that's a good thing or not. I prefer gold background

Megan Smart

#2 white background. The white background makes the pink text pop more. I would prefer that the focus of the thumbnail isn't her breasts. I think, as a woman, when I see thumbnails like #1, my brain subconsciously tells me "This video is targeting straight men. It's not for you." And that makes me less likely to click on it. (I want to be clear, my issue isn't that she's in a revealing outfit. It's that the point of the image is to draw my eyes to her breasts and not her as a person.) I understand that my opinion is not what the algorithm would probably choose, so no hate if that's what you pick. Just giving my thoughts.

SNLJ

The text and image pop more against the white background. The text behind her is stronger, but we have to be able to see the "holes" in the O and A in order to track what the word says, and splitting the word makes it seem like there's a letter missing. If you take image 1 and move the word to the top and you can see those holes in the O and A, then I think that's the clearest, cleanest layout.

#2

LOUSAFFRON

#3 really pops and gold for all the backgrounds

enbyRadicat

4 is pretty good, spacing on 3 does kinda look like go at. Could also try spacing like g o a t to avoid that

Steve L Busch

# 4 looked best based on my first scan.

Jenesis Hunter

I like 3 and 4 and definitely gold for the win 🏆

TimmehTim

#2. While #1 plays with the ideas of sex appeal and male gaze, which may be relevant to the essay, I think #2 or #4 avoids misconstrued, click bait-y assumptions of the viewer.

c3koz

#2

Chris

You already know, go gold

AV

2

Lyza

#4 but with gold would be my vote, if possible! It definitely looks like GOAT not GO AT to me.

unspun

have you tried making #1 but with the letters smaller and more separated? might make it more legible? #3 & 4 say "go at"

Gene Younkin

I say letters in front. Your viewers probably recognixe Nicki Minaj. It’s the GOAT part that’s in question. Counter argument: Boobies. I have no comeback to that and it is a thumbnail, afterall.

j-beda

I think #4, but make the "GO AT" spacing a bit smaller and maybe increase the "G O" spacing a bit and the "A T" spacing a bit. It works fine if people read it as "G.O.A.T." - heck, maybe putting the in the periods would help with the spacing as well as the understanding and decreasing the chance of "go at" interpretation.

Grace Nelson

Yeah the letters in the front looks the best imo

Edson Chilundo

Letters in front, but gold background would be nice.

Benjamin McGeorge

#4 I think is best. Not sure why but the gold doesn't grab me.

Euan Smith

#1 works; though #2 is less salacious. However, this is a thumbnail, so maybe salacious sells?

enchantedsleeper

I like #1 better than #2 because I think #2 covers up too much of the actual person (cleavage discussions aside). But it might work if the text was a similar size to #3 and #4. I like the gold, personally.

Sav B

lowkey like the gold? but I have to agree that #1 is probably best.
