That was beautifully done, Ms Lexi. There are so many venues of fandom—games, tv shows, anime, books, and so forth—that can be best enjoyed with fellow aficionados. I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I've been really getting into animes that are focused on a certain hobby or lifestyle (I just watched one about a trip to Antartica, and now another one about being in a musical ensemble.) I only recently realized that I'm so drawn to these types of shows in particular. It makes me think about all the different paths I could have taken, all the different lives I could have lived. It makes me feel somewhat sad that life is so short, and we can only experience so little. You say it perfectly - the thrill of becoming part of another world is worth grieving when it comes to an end.
