Your confused the “world on fire” is the the image that he puts together in his head based off of what he hears, feels, smells etc none of that world on fire he sees comes from his eyes

He cannot see, but it's like a bat's echo location + temperature fluctuations + smells, and all kinds of stuff. So the "fire" is all this stuff, like air temperature is warmer closer to the body, but decays further out and such. He doesn't see but he can imagine it in his mind, so he can form a perception around it, that sort of has a look to it. But it would look the same with a blindfold on. I didn't look it up, he literally explained it in the scene where you asked, but you talked over it
