Yes it an award show. In korea and Japan the artist sit over to the side in a designated area. The entire arena is filled with fans from most kpop groups especially if they a big or performing and nominated for an award. You have to react to all of their award performance beginning in 2016 both MMA and MAMA. BTS always make the awards shows their concerts lol they go all out!!

I'm sure you've gotten comments about it but the mv/song is actually a tribute to the Sewol Ferry Tragedy that happened in Korea in 2014 where over 250 highschool students passed away because of the way the captain handled the situation of the boat tipping over- This explanation of the mv is really good as there's a lot of references to books/movies and it just explains what happened with the whole tragedy itself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tye1ONFeKis&t=7s Also Jody you're so right a lot of the award shows in Asia that I've seen have a lot bigger audiences Its crazy how it can look like a whole concert lmao

Jody, super important! Please watch the Italian Army's explanation video for the MV after seeing it. The MV is about a tragic incident that happened in Korea a few years before the song came out. There are many references in the MV that can only be understood with an explanation video. And, since the fans consider this song the Queen of all BTS songs it's important to understand why by seeing the true meaning behind the MV. You'll see through the explanation that the MV highlights the depth of BTSs work and why they have had such an impact on hearts and minds all over the world. And, to E-man's perspective, if you see what the MV is actually about you will understand dance was not really appropriate and the emotions will flow hard for a different reason if you know what it all means. The MV was made for ferry accident that took a lot of young kids lives. It's really sad. That's why it's no dancing the MV was dedicated to children who lost their lives and the survivors. I sent you the explanation vid in your dm. Like once you know the what the MV means it's soooo emotional

theresss allot of things to react to, i think its best if they go in order guys, but yeah i do think they should watch the explanation video. they have one last episode of ahl so they should do that then focus on in the soop season 1, then watch the ptd concert in la on disney plus then so on, maybe run bts after or more mvs, whatever. some type of schedule would make it easier for you guys to

So it's been a little over 7 years on the charts. And if you watch the explanation video you'll understand how special this song is for Koreans🫶 Also, in December last year, ARMY managed to get this song to the #1 spot of the US iTunes chart for the first time since its debut in 2017👏👏👏🫶🫶🫶

It really is a special song and it is so worth watching the explanation video. This is the epitome of what BTS said they wanted to do right from the off set. Speak out against the wrong in the world, bring comfort through empathy to those who need it and support everyone to love themselves. They are more like a movement than a band, which is probably why their fan base is so diverse and global. 💜🫶💜

Armys bring army bombs anywhere. You’ll even see them at western artists concerts. Too expensive to not be pulling it out whenever we can lmao. I sat in the merch line for 5 hours before suga’s concert in Chicago just to buy one. And yesss spring day is literally perfect Jimin energy

I agree with everyone please react to the MV explanation videos! They really help to decode all the symbols in the MV, and this song is an important tribute to a very tragic event. I understand the American urge to have MV be more straightforward and focus on the performance of the song, lots of kpop songs and BTS MVs still do this. But I still love how philosophical they are, and how deep they get in the MVs. To me I get even more out of the song than just an MV which looks the same as the stage performance.

Yes those Asian award shows have huge audiences! It’s very common for fans to bring the light sticks to cheer on their fans, different kpop groups have different designs. The BTS one is called ARMY Bomb. I remember I think it was the MMA Awards that banned the light sticks and Army still snuck them in. 😂

Now that you’ve seen the MV. The hotel was named Omelas. That references a book that RM read. It’s about a happy society thriving, but all of that is because of the suffering of a child, a sacrifice that is happening. The pile of clothes is similar to a performance art piece where the clothes all belong to people who have died. Jimin was holding shoes, in some cultures people leave the shoes of people who die. The yellow ribbons, in Korea signified protests for student deaths at one point. The Snowpiercer reference is a great movie about social class abuse on a train. All of these things were purposefully put in the video and not speculation on the part of fans. I personally think this was BTS’s way of speaking about things they couldn’t openly talk about because of political things that were happening and it would have been censored.

When Tae puts his ear to the train tracks you hear the sound of a ship. This is a reference to the Sewol Ferry Tragedy where 300 people died, mostly school aged children on a field-trip. The captain told them all to stay in place, and they listened to him based on his authority. Then he escaped himself and left them there to die.

I'm really sorry for giving you a bit of a spoiler. I promise there's more to it though and worth watching. And the connection to the ferry is not confirmed by the company. But, as the above comment noted, there are some things that could not be talked about openly so we believe from the many symbols in the MV they're referencing this event.
