I'm from a very religious muslim country (Iran) but the people are not as religious as you would think. Anyway, in our culture it's not abnormal to see heterosexual men holding hands walking down the street and our greeting is always kissing each other on the cheek on each side no matter if you're male or female. I find that men from my country seem more comfortable being touchy feely with each other than the ones I know in North America. in general our culture is about celebrating, partying, being hospitable and having fun. Tho, you wouldn't know that from Western media.

I just looked that shooting up and they were Iraqi not Iranian. Honor killing are a fringe psychotic act. There are religious fanatical crazies in all countries, that doesn't mean they represent the whole of the culture. I'm not saying those things never happen but compared to other muslim countries Iranians as a whole are not as fanatically religious. And culturally, which is a different thing, we're really warm, and close people. There are psychotic school shooters in America but that doesn't mean most Americans think that way or would act that way. There are very conservative and religious people of course, but in general it is not as it is portrayed in the media. I'm in LA, you're welcome to come over and party with me and my friends. We'll show you a good time.

I've been wanting to add to the conversation about ARMY and toxic fans/YouTube comments. I'm kinda defending the "Army" as a whole. You gotta remember BTS fans range in age from like 10 to 60 years old. I've seen little kids and old heads at concerts. I think the toxicity & immature ish is coming from the younger fans. I believe that's who is on YouTube. People our age don't use social media the same way as a 13 year old. We don't spend our time online Fighting in comment sections defending their favorite bands. . The "ARMY" is flat out a BTS fan which you guys seem to be. So you guys are "Army" you just gotta remember there are kids in this army that you gotta ignore. I think BTS knows this too based on what they say on their lives. The mature "army" would gladly enjoy a conversation about religion like the one you guys ended with. The "Army" does great things too. For example when BTS donated a million dollars to BLM the BTS Army raised another million and matched their donation to BLM.

I think it's normal in a lot of countries. Masculinity is not as toxic in South Korea as it is in the US. Hugging & touching each other isn't sexualized. You can touch a person without it being sexual - that's the problem in the US. And I'm American before people start coming at me. To add, I have Middle Eastern family members (by marriage) very normal for males to greet other males with a kiss on the cheek BECAUSE ITS NOT SEXUALIZED. Imagine that happening in America ....
