My love jhope 😍besides jimin 😁 how dare u stop the vid before it ends 😭😆

Jackie

U guys should watch the performance video with all the members too!!

Chia Sano

J-Hope paid the original artist of this song a hefty bag for the rights to do this cover/remix, but he did so out of respect of this being one of the first songs he performed to in his dance career. I love a full-circle moment. I also appreciated the melding of cultures and languages on the record. You should watch when BTS does a performance (all members) of this song, it is hilarious and fun.

I am just going to gently say here that lecturing a group of people of color about how they feel about these issues can come across as very entitled and a little bit disrespectful. Black culture is not the same as African culture because so many black American people cannot trace their roots back to their exact heritage AND were restricted from/disconnected from it for so many years, so the example you gave there is a little disconnected from ideas around rock, hip-hop, and etc. Also African is an ethnicity, European is an ethnicity, Black (like white) is a race and race is a social construct on which manys international issues have stemmed. I would highlight that out of everything in this video, where nobody wished ill on people who are white or white presenting but highlighted cultural differences in terms of a lived experience as someone who is a minority in their own country watching even people from the majority culture start to heavily invest in/become leaders in elements that were rooted in black culture is something we are seeing. I didn't see any other comments from people who found their statements to be disrespectful because they are part of their lived experience, and I know from experience you are probably not trying to be insensitive but it did come across that way...and as a black person myself, it read as very jarring. I know that wasn't your intention. So just giving you the perspective of someone who has heard sentiments like you shared before from people who are not safe for me to be around. I think I'm a little shocked.

Ahh, the MV that started my journey with BTS. I saw this boy's dance moves and had to know more. Who knew these 7 would become such a joy in my life. I agree that they've brought back the best of 90's music, the hip hop r&b and even neo soul. Hard to find good shit over her so we're all turning our eyes overseas. If you told me I'd be into a Korean boy band at this age I would have laughed in your face. But, it's like the swag and the music is made for people like me, longing for something to remind me of the good old days. Even the way MV's premiere. I remember that back in the MTV days. North America has lost all that.

No, I didn't intend to be insensitive. Did you not hear what E-man said about "the clears aka white people going the way of the dodo." ? Should that not offend me? And I'm not easily offended but we've definitely seen an uptick in "anti-white" sentiment, in general, in this country. And the messed up part is, I UNDERSTAND it. But I will never condone hate and mockery of a people across an entire race when every person in that race is not guilty of past crimes.

Chia Sano

It is an observation that if you look in media today? There are so many people who are White who get paid so much money for living parodies or copying fashion, slang, and mannerisms from things that before were aligned with 'Black' groups or other cultures beyond European. Going the way of the dodo (while I don't think that's happening btw everywhere but we are seeing it more in America) means that these people are not relying on European elements, they are expanding their opportunities by taking on the aspects that were profitable to minorities. Does that make sense?

Cherish Poole

yep, #eliminateallwhitepeople2025

Chia Sano

This is what people fear but it isn't something that most people wish or want. It doesn't however erase systemic harm/challenges/issues.

Amanda Michelle

I'm going to delete my comment because I honestly don't want to offend Jody or any others on here. I just have come to loathe the term "white people" and how it's used. As a Christian, I find the racial divide in this country absolutely heartbreaking.

Jodys Corner

Woooooow. If true, JHop gets a tremendous amount of respeckt from me!

Po

For BTS stuff always go to the end of the video sometimes there are little bits at the end that you always skip over because you end the video to quickly

.

At the most random moments I sing Becky’s lyric “chicken noodle o pollo con espagetti” and yessss pls watch the performance with all the members. Baby daddy is rapping in Spanish🙂‍↕️

.

I remember when this first dropped I had no idea who bts was and I had heard about it on the shade room. I was absolutely being a hater about it☠️ cause at a first glance it just seemed like another Asian guy biting off black culture but then years later I became a fan and learned that wasn’t the case. Funny how that came back full circle for me
