From what I read online sopranos is a very realistic depiction of the mafia’s decline.

Again E Man, the Uncle was never going to kill Artie in the restaurant, he was going to kill ANOTHER mobster in Artie's restaurant. Tony burned the place down so Artie's business could survive afterwards.

Also they are having meetings in odd places like the retirement home to keep them somewhat off the radar. Its a stupid reason. I never understood this in the show and seemed unrealistic. A lot of mobsters got killed in restaurants. If the food is good people will come.
