Damn lol I wanted to watch y’all watch the crowd continue to sing perfectly on key even after the members already left.

Basically this song is about mental health. Magic Shop” was originally based on a memoir called Into the Magic Shop by American neurosurgeon James Doty. In Into the Magic Shop, Doty explains how a woman who ran a magic shop taught him exercises to ease his suffering when he was a young boy. Dr. Oh went on to explain that the book centers on how meditation and mindfulness, which are common topics in psychiatry, can “cure mental wounds" According to Dr. Oh, these are the themes reflected in BTS’s “Magic Shop”. But on top of that, the Magic Shop is also part of a commonly used psychotherapeutic technique called psychodrama. Psychodrama involves role playing to help patients overcome their trauma, and one of the warmup exercises is the Magic Shop routine. During this exercise, psychiatrists like Dr. Oh play the owner of a magic shop where patients can “buy” positive traits by “selling” their fears, worries, and negativities. Referring to one lyric, “Days when you hate that you’re you / Let’s make a door in your heart“, physician Dr. Woo and ENT specialist Dr. Lee agreed that the titular Magic Shop in BTS’s song is a place waiting to comfort you when your self-esteem is low.

hey Jody and Eman!!! great reaction as usual, this song is based on a book called Into The Magic Shop it tells the story of a neurosurgeon's quest to unravel the mystery of the link between our brains and our hearts. From the moment in his childhood when a simple act of kindness changed the course of his own life to his founding a center to study compassion at Stanford University. its also a psychological coping tool if your having a hard day imagine a place where u can be at peace ... think Superman's Fortress of Solitude, or Batmans cave a kind of sanctuary from the outside world. my interpretation of the song is BTS telling us that on days we don't want to be here anymore we can just use them (BTS) as a method of escape.... I personally found BTS after my husband died they made me laugh again... my favorite line is "you gave me the best of me so you'll give you the best of you" basically asking us to love ourselves for us like treat yourself the way u treat the ppl u love.... we do everything for our loved ones and sacrifice and criticize ourselves we should treat ourselves with the same care... btw u remind me of my husband alot same sense of humor and he was a foodie and great cook too. Borahae 💜 lots of love to you both 💜

Some songs are totally not about Army but this one is!! It's the quintessential song for Army. Magic Shop is a psychodramatic technique used to help therapy patients come out of depression and heal trauma. As a therapist, I do use it with patients. It's an imagined safe place where you can let go of the worries and suffering in your life. You then replace negative thoughts with self love and motivation. It's a mindfulness technique to ease mental stress and anxiety. Jungkook took the premise and wrote the song as a comfort for Armys. In the song BTS are there in the magic shop of your heart and give you a break from the ills of the world. And while there they give you the strength to find your own confidence. Especially for those contemplating suicide, the song is a ray of light to choose life. They even encourage those in that headspace to "live" in the song. 💜

Jungkook wrote that song “Magic Shop” for the Army 💜 and I love that song 🎶

When Jungkook was singing to the crowd(ARMY) that song the “Magic Shop” in his solo “Golden” concert in 2023 before he going to the military. I remember that Jungkook say that his favorite song 🎶 and also he did singing on weverse live too.

Wow. Sorry about your husband and happy that I remind you of him. Thanks for the knowledge, because I needed it. Makes the song that much more meaningful and deep. Love the song even more now!

April Forgue

Thanks. I remember watching an interview with the doctor who wrote the book. BTS helped make it a best seller again after releasing the song.

.

This is my number 1 song by them. When lil ole me was going through the darkest times of grieving this song always had my back🫡

Thank you for this reaction. When Jungkook wrote this he was referring to Army as BTS's Magic Shop (a place of love, comfort and support when you feel you have no safe place in the world). It is a pity that you cut the videos off before the very end as you miss a lot both on this video and the AYS last episode where JK & JM sent a message on the day they went into the Army.

BEAUTIFUL EXPLANATION! THANK YOU FOR THIS!!

Amanda Anonyuo

Right!? These explanations make the song mean so much more!! (I understand why you didn't think the title of the song was great, but that's because you immediately associated it with something kinda negative or inappropriate, but that's just culture or exposure to certain things that makes us do that) I'm glad you now know the full meaning. :) Great reaction, Jody.
