A interesting thing about the real New Jersey family that this is based off of. The boss Decavelcante had ordered that all members had to have a day job. And were not allowed to talk about mafia business or commit crimes until after 6pm. I guess it worked he was boss for a long time. New York use to make fun of them for it but they were not slouches they had hitters. They all just had a regular jobs also.

I didn’t like how funny it was until I read that a lot of the dialogue was inspired by real wiretaps in fact real mobsters thought there was a connected guy feeding story lines for the show which I found cool

yep that is how it originally was after they got off that boat they got jobs. Like the first mafia family in NY moved to Texas for a while and worked as farmers. Then moved back to NY and started a counterfeit and extortion racket. A mafia guy on patreon talks about that how several were school bus driver or city bus drivers. you had deliverymen butchers Roy Demeo was a butcher by trade. Which makes sense. Tommy Gambino a multi millionare was a tailor. And guys would give union jobs to those who needed a job or struggling. The NJ mob just took it a step further that everyone had to have day job
