Taemin is also still in a group(aka shinee ). Love taemin such a talented guy I can see why everyone looks up to him

Chlo

Glad you enjoyed, he's an incredible artist. Hopefully you can keep reacting to more Taemin and maybe even his group 'SHINee'. Btw Jimin's song 'Set me free pt2.' was released 7 months before Taemin released 'Guilty'. Taemin was 14 yrs old when he debuted with the group 'SHINee' in 2008. He's the youngest member of his group. Even though he's only 2 years older than Jimin, he's a senior (sunbae) in the industry and Jimin is the junior (hoobae). In reality Jimin and Taemin are really good friends. There's no problem liking both artists and seeing similarities. Taemin was obviously there before Jimin but as much as they are the same, they have their own uniqueness, for example, Jimin has a background in contemporary dance and martial arts that makes him stand out as a performer.

Joe

See i hope now you can draw the difference between jimin and taemin. Both have diffrent strong points , jimin had a lot of grace and his moves are sensual and his postures is perfect thats why you can freeze the frame and can still see perfect jimin angle in every move. Thats only possible because of his core strength. As a dancer my self i can see clear contrast between jimin and taemin has more raw sex appeal in my view

Kimberley

You can now see how and why so many idols have been inspired by him the last 17 years. I recommend listening to move it's my favorite Taemin song.

Jaxyn

Jimin did his own choreography for set me free pt 2 and it was released prior to Taemin’s Guilty so to insinuate Jimin copied it is ridiculous. Also, as far as vocals go in my opinion nobody sounds like Jimin he has such a distinctive sound so to say there tone even sounds the same is crazy.

Yayy!!! I love Taemin down. Yall need to dive into more of his songs when you can. Songs = Criminal, Idea, Move, Advice, Want, Sexy in the Air, and Rizzness. You can see more of his dance styles in some of these and his influence of Michael Jackson but how he adds his own flair to it.

Shakey

Glad you guys loved it! Taemin is a member of SHINee, they're the first kpop bg I ever loved. His main inspiration and muse is Michael Jackson (and it SHOWS as you dive deeper into his solo work). Another member of SHINee was also heavily influenced by MJ and Prince. Unlike Jimin and Jhope who are professionally trained dancers, Taemin is actually a self-taught dancer. He taught himself how to dance by watching MJ clips when he was really little and that inspired him to become a dancer and singer. So, while Jimin's dance style is more contemporary based, Taemin's is actually more pop n lock/break dance style with an MJ flair. Funnily enough their personalities are actually really similar Jody lmao so good luck there. Taemin's more on the introverted side though compared to Jimin who's a bit more extroverted. Also, Taemin debuted at 14 and was basically considered the industry's baby for years so you'll notice celebs still kind of treat him like their kid in a way since they all watched him grow up. Some songs I'd recommend for you to watch are Move, Press Your Number (written by Bruno Mars actually), Want, and Criminal. Taemin has a very distinct sound and style to him that you'll easily pick up on when watching. Loved the reaction as usual and can't wait to see more from you guys and hear your honest thoughts about it all. Sorry for the lengthy comment lol

Luv taemin he is such an amazing artist

itsmenorthern.

yes, literally the OG idol of kpop. literally taemin has been in the kpop industry since he was 14 years old and he has been the icon and the main attraction since he debuted. the amount of idols not just jimin or bts, who became idols BECAUSE of taemin, who are inspired by him is uncountable. in korea at music shows other kpop groups line up at his waiting room door for autographs and to have him feature in dance challenge tik toks with them. like they are always so starstuck by him. 😭 i am so glad you guys looked into taemin, in other words the michael jackson of kpop and labeled as the BEST DANCER in kpop. y’all should check out his other solo stuff criminal, advice, move, press your number.

itsmenorthern.

and jody, i agree with you. i have also seen so many armys pretend like jimin did not literally say out of his mouth on more than one occasion that he was highly influenced by taemin. i personally don’t think he’s a copycat bcs taemin’s quite honestly on another tier and that is no shade to jimin but if you saw taemin perform sing and dance live you’ll understand lol. but some army will literally look you in your face and say jimin never said that. 😭 as much as i love bts, the fandom can be so frustrating lmao. like they have been trying to diminish taemin’s influence for the longest time when it’s a known thing that in korea there are so many idols/groups who debuted following taemin/shinee’s influence and other big groups like big bang ect. they hate to admit or give anyone other than bts their flowers.

Jana

Jimin released his song before Taemin did. Also, Jimin has a completely different voice—he even said multiple times that his role model is himself. Jungkook said he copies Jimin, loves his style, and that there are many things he admires about him. So I really don’t understand what the problem is when people say that. In the end, it’s totally fine—everyone has something that makes them special, and you can clearly see the difference.

i'm gonna leave a long ass comment lmao so if you don't wanna read it the main message is this: react to taemin's dingo killing voice because it will give you snippets of his songs and allow you to hear more of his vocals and i think you will see more of a difference between him and jimin. long ass comment: as someone who is a really big fan of both artists and has been a fan for multiple years (army since 2014, taemin fan since 2017), i can attest to the fact that jimin is not a "carbon copy" of taemin. he definitely takes inspiration from him (which he admits to since taemin is 1 of his 2 biggest idols) but he does not "copy" him. same goes vice versa. i totally get where you guys are coming from since you've seen so much of jimin and only 1 video from taemin but, trust me, taemin and jimin's discographies as a whole are not that similar in my opinion. taemin's music all has a very distinct tone that i do not find in jimin's music and taemin himself even mentions in the suchitwa episode that there is such thing as a "taemin cliché". the vibe taemin brings to kpop SONICALLY is very specific and i do not believe that jimin's music emulated that. this isn't a dig at jimin btw, it's an observation. in terms of their looks/vibes, their faces are obviously different from eachother when you look at them properly but their clothing/vibes are similar literally because they always have been lmao. this is jimin's true self, unlike the way he acted back in 2013-2014. their dancing is also not that similar. they're both amazing but jimin has a certain smooth/gracefullness to him because of his contemporary training whereas taemin has a suuuuper sharp way of moving. the reason this choreo feels more jimin-like is because it has a lot of contemporary elements, not necessarily bc jimin copied it. the choreographies they do could be done by either of them and they would look amazing however the overall vibe of the dance routine would feel different. their voices are also different. they both have very unique tones but jimin's is definitely more naturally high-pitched/cursive (almost whiny sounding, not in a bad way) whereas taemin's has a bit more power behind it. again, this song has a lot of falsetto vocals in it so it makes sense that you would compare it to jimin's voice. i also disagree with the set me free comparison because this song literally sounds and looks nothing like set me free lmao. overall, i'm glad that you guys liked this. this song is definitely a piece of art, such as most of taemin's work. if you guys liked this song and you like micheal-jackson type of vibes, i would recommend his song 'criminal'. i would also recommend the song 'move' as it's probably taemin's most iconic song.

Jodys Corner

Read this all. Yeah, Eman is trash for saying it sounded like set me free. Lol

Jodys Corner

Jimins heart and peraonality are what I love about him and makes his special to me. But Taemin has a lot of the things that I love about Jimin too. Army be straight delulu when having "selective memory" in what BTS have said in the past.

Jodys Corner

Eman saying "Guilty" was a copy of "set me free" was BS

Jana

That’s your opinion and that’s okay, but honestly, if you listen to more songs, you’ll realize there really isn’t any similarity in their voices. Also, as you mentioned, Jimin’s song was released before Taemin’s. Jimin always says that his role model is himself. Taemin is his friend, and he loves to be inspired by him, but he never copies him. Please take a look at more videos of Jimin and Taemin together. There’s even a dance video they did together — you’ll clearly see the difference in their moves as well. I only mentioned Jungkook as an example. If you look it up, you’ll see he says he copies Jimin and likes his style. But in the end, he still has his own unique charm. It’s the same with Jimin and Taemin. He doesn’t copy him at all — he simply respects him, he’s his friend, and he admires what he does. Sorry for the long message, and thank you for your reaction to the video! I really love your responses and I’m looking forward to more videos about Jimin.🤍

yes !! amongst the kpop industry every idol will tell you taemin is the best and dance critics/ professional dancers say the same. and it’s crazy bcs he actually taught himself as a kid while watching michael jackson !! he also has tapped into jazz and modern dance. he has such an insane way of dancing that is honestly so impressive because he looks like he isn’t even trying meanwhile his choreographies are amongst the hardest. bcs it requires so much technical skill that you can’t just pick up bcs you can dance and it has so much attention to even the smallest details like every movement is so carefully thought out, like a story. 😭 there are times when he even teaches the background dancers how the dance should look. he is GOATED !!

Jaxyn

That’s subjective. There are several great K-POP dancers and I know Taemin is on that list but to arbitrarily say everyone will tell you he’s number one is just not true.

itsmenorthern.

there are many great dancers in kpop, never did i say there aren’t. but the artist with the most praise and acknowledgment for his dancing is taemin.

itsmenorthern.

when i said “idols and professionals.” i meant exactly that. the general public’s opinion has no meaning to me. obviously the kpop fanbase will just argue their fav’s are and fight lol. and then that also opens up another debate about idol dancers and true dancer’s because there is a huge difference and taemin is proof of that. regardless, your opinion is yours.

itsmenorthern.

so you’re asking for names yet don’t care for their opinions? lol. google is free! i’m not wasting my time on someone who obviously don’t actually care to be informed and knows nothing about dance. 😭

Jodys Corner

I guess I need to see more dance performances of Tae. Even though its opinion at the end of the day on who is best. If its true that most industry professionals and other kpop dancers have the opinion that Taemin is the best, then that hold serious weight like michael jackson being considered "the best" dancer. Even though MJ being the "best dancer" is still just an opinion.

itsmenorthern.

thank you, jody ! like it’s actually such a simple concept to grasp. 😭 like there is weight when people who have danced professionally their entire lives acknowledge your skillset, when renowned choreographers who worked for the greats, for example tony testa who choreographed and danced alongside janet jackson who has worked with countless kpop stars has said himself taemin is the best out of them or rie hata who worked with & choreographed for chris brown, lady gaga, omarion, bts, nct, kpop legend BoA and even brian puspos who choreographed for chris brown/bts and more !! he made serendipity’s choreography, jungkook’s seven. it stops becoming just an “opinion” when taemin’s peers in the industry, countless younger idols, professionals and more all say you are the best over kpop fans who only care about fanwars and know nothing about dance. and compare taemin to idols who will pop out with choreographed routines if you turn on some music. 😭

Jodys Corner

I agree. Jhope shouod be considered "self taught" as well. So Tae and Jhope are BOTH self-taught dancers.

Shakey

Both Jhope and Jimin went to dance academy's for years where they received professional training to hone their skills before they ever became trainees. They were in those dance academy's way longer than Taemin's 2-3 years as a trainee since they both started young around elementary or middle school up to their high school days. Taemin never went to a dance academy, he had no form of special training before joining SM. He got in through skills he taught himself. That's not a knock on any of the three, thats just how it is. Some may view jimin and jhope in a better light because they feel their moves are more sophisticated or executed better because of their training. Some may view Taemin's better and feel he's a better dancer. I love them all so I don't really care who views who as number one but everything I said is common knowledge about the members. I've stanned SHINee since their debut in 2008 and BTS since 2014, I love them both and have no reason to make anything up about them. Also, as far as the whole trainee thing goes, every idol is required to be a trainee at some point and time in order to debut so receiving training from the company they're under is a given. I was talking about all three of their original dance foundations *before* they became trainees though, since that would be their dance fundamentals before training under their companies. Taemin was self-taught for some years and then only received 2-3 years of training from SM entertainment before debuting. On the other hand, hobi and jimin went to school at a young age and were there for some years learning dance before they came to bighit and debuted. These are all things all three of them have talked about throughout the years in interviews or variety shows. My comment was never meant to neg any of them and of them and again, all of this is knowledge where you should be able to find videos or articles about online. Again, sorry for the lengthy comment.

Shakey

All that said, sorry if anything in my post seemed like I was downplaying anyone and it offended you. I love them all a lot and know that they're all very talented men. I don't think being trained or being self-taught makes anyone better than anyone. I just wanted to give more info for Jody to work with in the future since he and Eman aren't very familiar with Taemin yet.

Shakey

No worries, and that's completely fair. I get what you mean about the company's abilities and how the training could've impacted all three of them. I personally agree with you on that

K

Yea i definitely don’t see like a huge similarity with jimin and taemins voice. Yeah they are both high but they sound different like i could tell jimin and taemins voice apart if i heard both of their voices for the first time lmao
