The hierarchy goes like this Boss>Underboss>capos>soldiers>associates(not made),. A consigliere is a high rank position and advises the boss but does not necessarily command anyone.

E Man, this show takes place when the mob is a shadow of what it once was. The Boss’s don’t got guards like they use to in the old days, let alone a NJ boss.

That was a crazy situation. Talking about a man's wife with this fashion is basically the automatic death penalty. That's why Johnny was so easy to put the hit out on Ralphie and also he still didn't tell them that Paulie told him about the joke . Then on the flip side Ralphie is the biggest earner they have and at this point they want to eat. Me personally I feel he should have been gone right when he killed that girl at club, but at the end of the day it's all about money especially since during this time the Mob is basically a shell of itself. Good episode and reaction. Looking forward to the next one.

I just didnt get the talking about the wife means you die scenario. I feel like it shouldn't be in this show because their more soft and comedic in this series as opposed to other hard-core crime series and movies

A consigliere also acts as a go between for captains and soldiers who have disputes with the boss or underboss. He also is a contact to go to for other families if they want to speak to the boss. A consigliere is allowed to have one soldier to be his permanent assistant. Usually a consigliere is an older member. But doesn't always happen. In the Bonanno family a civil war broke out because Joe Bonanno made his son consigliere and that brought about a lot of grumblings from a lot of the members. And that led to the ousting of Joe Bonanno and his son. They had to leave New York and settle in Arizona or be killed

Yeah I am a nigga but i have Italian in my family on my mothers side. A great grandfather he is from San Vito Lo Capo in Sicily. Then came to Canada then New York and settled in New Orleans. Got interested in Mafia when i went to his house and read a book about Al Capone. Never met him though died when i was a baby. You should watch Fear City on Netflix if Eman wants to see how the Mafia really worked and how some of these people did not look like criminals. I got Eman something with that sword but i forgot what it was i know one was a shirt and some other things

Bosses only had guards like that when they knew there was a conflict going on. They didn't have bodyguards like they show on TV. Even when they had guards, if someone wants to kill the boss they will, and the bodyguard will go with him or will be the one killing him or helping him kill him. Carmine Galante his two bodyguards turned on him after a hit team shot gunned him. Morello was killed with his bodyguard. Paul Castellano and his bodyguard were killed together. Angelo Bruno his bodyguard rolled the back window down so an assassin could put a shotgun to the back of his head.

Eman losing his shit over a black guy being a mafia historian is hilarious. Also you guys appear to have a culture difference as to what constitutes a "gangster look". Mobsters are all about subtly and not standing out, they could be your average, unimpressive next door neighbors, while your average street thug is loud, flashy and openly aggressive with that alpha dog mentality. Just a coin toss on my behalf.

I agree with that and I feel that falls on the writer. Coming in to this series most of us have you the heads up about this show not being a full on mob show especially since the mob is almost dead and everyone is scrambling for certain things while the feds are breathing down their necks. Certain things still have to be "Mob Like", but it could have been done better.
