BTS Grammy controversy! ELITE.mkv

BTS has never won a grammy they have performed, they've presented, but they've never won. The grammys are trash every artist has the right not to submit or submit their work for the grammys, BTS decided not to submit and the grammys, took BTS's previous performances of dynamite and butter down from their website and I believe their youtube page isn't that some petty betty shit. The people saying well if they spoke and sang more in English they might have a chance this album had more English than any previous album, Dynamite was completely in English, and it lost to Lady Gaga. The Grammys were never going to let them win that's why they created this category as a consolation prize. RM has stated they are 7 proud Koreans all born and raised that's their identity doing a complete English album will never happen in their documentary they were struggling with English and Suga said I'm adding more Korean.I feel bad for the guys I know they are struggling there is talk that the feedback hasn't been great in South Korea either, a lot of people have the attitude who do you think you are? One guy i think he is a music critic in South Korea said that the reason they dropped out is cause they knew that they wouldn't win anything, and their spoiled which is bullcrap because we all know they would have at least won the best asian award. The only person who has defended them from the kpop is Tablo from Epik High who has been Suga and RM's friend and mentor. I would recommend watching aliens from Saturday night at MetLife stadium they were angry and you could tell, the song is about the racism that they've experienced being Asian and Korean. After the announcement, they weren't submitting to the grammys the song went number one on itunes.

Wow! Just wow! Idk why i thought they won a Grammy..... it must've been a billboard award then... So theu said theyre nwver doing english huh? Thats sad to hear, but i respect it. I think JK will learn it though, he wants to i believe. But after this Grammy fiasco, he might not want to anymore.......

The Grammys in 2021 and 2022 heavily used the group's anticipated performances as ratings bait throughout the shows. They were nominated in 2021 for Dynamite and 2022 for Butter but lost out both times. The Grammy's used them both times and so BTS will not allow them to do that to them again for a bullsh*t made up category. I'm proud that they have chose not to submit, they don't need the Grammy's to validate what great artists they are, they are on TOP! Performing their music all around the world in stadiums to thousands and thousands of people every night is truly incredible and better than any award. BTS don't need the Grammy's, the Grammy's need BTS! For example, the recent BTS Live Comeback show drew more live viewers than the recent Grammy's. - BTS Live Comeback Show - 18.4 million - Grammy's - 14.4 million

I think all the members have been learning English a lot more throughout this tour and they often try to speak it as much as possible in their talking bits in the concerts in the UK & US. V last month showed on his instagram story how he was getting on with learning English online.

Jody, BTS recently did an interview in the UK without RM, so the members had to converse the best they could without their English speaking member. It's called; 'BTS react to British food and SPILL on comeback album ‘Arirang’ | Very British Day Out'. Here's the link if you want to check it out -> https://youtu.be/N0-uQR19dVg?si=y_rRJN_CjCpxLZA0

I think a lot of the controversy is that while yes the Grammys is a U.S. awards show, they CLAIM and market the show as global so it feels disingenuous. If the Grammys just said clearly ‘hey, we only represent the US music industry’ then things might be different, but they don’t say that. That aside, BTS has English songs. Swim and Normal are both entirely in English, so they do have some songs that anyone can listen to without having to look up lyrics. Another point of controversy is that the timing is whack. If they introduced this category like 5 years ago then okay, but they waited until BTS came out with a commercially and critically acclaimed album - the biggest commercial album of 2026 so far - to drop the category. It kind of feels like when Beyoncé won Country Album of the Year at the Grammys and then the very next year they made a new category ‘Best Contemporary Country’ and ‘Best Traditional Country.’ The country folks were mad a black woman won a major category (Best Country) so now if she goes up for it again we all know which category she’ll be put into (and other black artists who make country music). Finally - one more thought. It doesn’t matter what category artists submit their music to. The Recording Academy can resort it according to what they feel it makes the most sense under. So even if BTS didnt submit to the Best Asian Pop category and wanted their music judged in the general Pop and major categories, the Academy could still resort it to put them there. As for another K-pop group winning - it says Asian Pop, not K-pop, so I could see a Japanese artist winning over a Korean artist actually - Japanese culture is very big in the US in some areas and Japan has the second biggest music market in the world after the U.S. so bringing in more of those viewers could be a trade off the Grammys makes since they can’t have BTS. Maybe a different Asian artist - Bollywood music is huge in India, there are some big Chinese and Filipino artists too, etc. Blackpink is the second biggest K-pop group after BTS streams-wise, but they haven’t released new music this year so I’m not sure what they have to submit (the music has to ‘make meaningful use of an Asian language’ and Blackpink’s last album was 100% in English so they actually wouldn’t qualify to be Best Asian Pop Artist lol despite being Asian).

As someone who watched both of those shows, from literally the pre-show they kept saying ‘BTS is up next!’ BTS was at the very end of both shows and we all know that the show was not honest because they wanted the ratings and social media engagement that promoting BTS brings so they kept hyping them but gave them very little time to perform, etc. honestly it left a bad taste in my mouth, felt like they were not given the same respect that the other artists were.
