We need to talk about BTS fanchants! - Elite.mkv

I think it’s unnecessary for the company to try to impose this. Fanchants are usually spontaneous, and BTS’s most iconic one already works for many of their songs, so I don’t think it needs to be something meticulously calculated. I love the one where their names are chanted—it works really well for me—but I don’t think having so many of them, and in such a standardized way, is necessary.

Jody, since you really like Jin, you might want to consider reacting to *Kian's Bizarre B&B*, which he appeared on right after leaving the army. It’s available on Netflix and is really entertaining. The dynamic is great, and new characters are introduced in almost every episode—it’s a lot of fun.

To be honest, I think it's more of a Korean Army thing more than Army around the world. Of course the Army around the world know the Mic Drop fan chant which is the members names but apart from that I believe it's more in Korea where they follow the fan chants. Me personally I never did any of the fan chants at the concert, I was just vibing and singing along. I went to the Paris concert and I don't remember anyone doing any fan chants at the concert (apart from the Mic Drop fan chant which is fun to do anyway) we were just having a blast and enjoying the moment. Btw this isn't just BTS, every K-pop group puts out fan chants for their songs. Korean fan chants are synchronised vocal cheers performed by K-pop fans during specific moments of a song at live concerts and music show. In my opinion, it's cringey and shouldn't really be a thing now, especially for a massive group like BTS, they don't need it. You're right it's manufactured and unnatural. It can ruin the song as well. I can assure you though, I don't believe most of the Army really follow this fan chant thing (I hope so anyway), it's quite embarrassing.

i definitely think armys a few years ago were seriously doing the fan chants. i was 15 and 16 when i went to the LY tour and the LYSY tour and i remember a lot of people doing the chants. from what ive heard though, it’s not super common now, but as 15/16 year old it seemed cool to me and made me feel like a place to belong lol. although, now that i am about to turn 23, i definitely agree it is cringey. i think it was definitely something kids would like but not adults so i also think thats why many armys dont anymore because most of them have grown up now lmfao

Don't think BTS is the only group with fanchants ..alot of kpop groups have fanchants..at the concert u can't even hear them sometimes ..everyone is singing the whole song ..I havent cared to learn for the new album lol..I like the fanchants for the old songs especially mic drop..mic drop has the best fanchant..when you are there u won't even care what anyone is screaming cus your focus is bts. If u do notice then u r not into the concert..

Melissa Torres

You dont have to do it if u don't want to lol they don't make you do it ..I personally do it cus I want to and I like non fans to hear us do it especially at events that have other artist to show the power of army💪😎..we r proud to do it..I dont care if it's scripted ..either way we sing the whole song too..

I think it can be a little excessive but the chant where they say their names the guys lot that they have said it gives them energy when they are feeling low.

The name chanting part is something I like too. I was speaking more of the music. I'm relieved you agree and see where I'm coming from. BTS are better than making the fans chant for them. Their music is good enough for regular, organic reactions.

Jodys Corner

Great recommendation! Is he in the entire series? Or a certain episode?

Hilly

Fan chanting is a KPOP thing and it’s existed way before BTS even debuted, it just got globalized because bts is global now

Ana Paula

He appears throughout the series, taking part as the inn's manager. Kian is the owner and the person behind the concept, and he also has a partner—a comedic actress.

Jody can you react to Jin's elle interview its on YouTube its 11 minutes

Chlo

Jody, will we be getting the reaction of run bts 2.0 episode 3 soon?? 😄

I didn’t know there was a fanchant already for ARIRANG! Thanks for the heads up lmao. Seriously though - I just got back from the Baltimore concert (was amazing even better than the Vegas concert) and fanchants are going out of fashion in stadiums anymore. I know some of the old love yourself era ones but I think fanchants are only universal on Korean Music shows these days. I assure you, most fans do not have all the fanchants memorized. 90% of folks probably know the chants for 2-4 songs total.
