The thing is I feel like y’all haven’t reacted to enough BTS songs to see Yoongi’s rap side there too. U guys have reacted to a lot of their more pop songs that has less rapping. That being said tho, yes in his music he is a lot more expressive and can talk abt what he wants cuz it’s his own creation, his own thoughts, his own stories etc. while BTS songs are about things they want to collectively put out. When you do a deep dive into all of of their solo’s u will see that they r all different from their group music, they all have a different style. So BTS music does not particularly suite the style of one member (in my opinion) so I don’t think any of them are particularly “toned down” I think it’s just that…it’s a group of seven ppl right? So BTS songs r kind of a mix of all of them. They are all in their own comfort zone in their solo music. Im not saying they don’t like their group work (cuz they do lol, they constantly continue to talk abt how they can’t wait to continue doing group work💀) but having a chance to fully express yourself hits different

Agust d is suga’s other stage name when he does solo work, agust d is suga backwards along with dt , which is for his home daegu ‘town’ , the other song you played is called ‘agust d’ and it’s by suga ‘agust d’ , this music video ‘haegum’ is the 2nd part of a trilogy, which starts with his song daechwita , and the two characters will make sense if you watch that one first , then the 3rd part of the trilogy is amygdala, which he speaks about his real trauma and past experiences which effected him throughout the years

Also towards your question about whether Bang si-hyuk manages their solo cereers, well they’re all still under the same management company which is Big hit. BTS r given freedom to do whatever they want with their songs including the group one. It’s just that you guys have to realize that these seven men don’t have the same style and idea of what they want to personally write about. So when it comes to group work, they basically have to compromise and be like “ok so what do we as a GROUP want to talk abt” when each of them are writing music for BTS, they have mentioned that they don’t think abt themselves but as a group (or at least RM mentioned it) how it’s kind of like they have to separate their personal desires because this ain’t all about you. It’s kind of like if you are doing group work with people yea? And you can throw and idea you have out there but it’s still a group work so everyone has to agree and be ok with it. So they all still have the same management they have always had but they are doing their own thing so they all write what they want. They have mentioned time and time again that they have freedom to write what they want in group work. And one of the MAIN reasons they r even all doing their own thing is cuz they want to grow more as individual artist so they can bring it all together when they come back to their group work, so at the end of the day all this solo work still leads to their group work as BTS. They say all this in their most recent festa video where they did talk abt why they are all focusing on solo work right now. (Festa video is the 1hr+ celebration thing they do every year)

Yea they all have their own managers but they are all under the same management of big hit. What I mean by this is that their individual managers are still big hit employees. So even when they weren’t doing solo work they still all had individual managers.

You really have not seen enough group or solo stuff. Suga, RM and Jhope have plenty of controversial music. Also Heageum is an instrument as well which is playing in the song. This is the second song in the trilogy the first is Deachwita and the last is Amygdala.

Alright, now you are getting there. Agust D's solo work is incredible. I told you you will love it. Now on to Daechwita and Amygdala. As you could already see, his videos and lyrics have multiple layers. He had this trilogy concept - the video concepts were his, he drew the storyboards... I have always loved Suga's personality too: he seems nonchalant, but he is a deep thinker, very smart, his love language is cooking, he can be goofy af and funny and he is a musical genious. His rap makes waves with American audience because you just can't diss his mastery. And of course, watch the one you accidentally hit, Agust D by Agust D. :)

i know you guys can only speak for what you have seen so far, but you guys are generalising how suga is in bts when you have only heard a few tracks when they have hundreds of songs. id recommend all 4 bts cyphers to see how all the rappers are. and bts is the least PC group in korea you just have to see more of them.

Exactly! Jody, you have a very limited view of BTS' discography. So, just know that there are plenty of BTS group songs where the rappers go off! Can't wait til y'all hear the Cyphers (1-4)...those are just the rappers, of course.

Yessssss yoongi do not play. He always ends up ruffling ppl feathers cause they feel called out by his lyrics. Ohhhhh I was waiting for this and pressed play soooooo freakin fast!!!!!! I was sure from the beginning you would fall for that man. I had no worries. So, Haegeum is the second song in a trilogy. Daechwita, Haegeum and Amygdala (Prequel). I highly recommend you watch all three!!! (No dance practice for Daechwita or Amygdala) Also, I highly recommend checking out Rice Squad and Bookish Theories channels for explanation videos on Youtube for more context of the meanings, especially for Daechwita since there are a lot of historical references in there. Can't wait to hear your thoughts afterwards on what his message is throughout. I think E-man's interpretation of it being in his head is quite interesting.

So, I don't know if you remember but in the BTS Doc by Taylor Mori they showed RM and Suga on a panel with a bunch of underground rappers and they were being made fun of for becoming Idols, as if they sold out. They didn't show the whole thing but at some point Suga and RM explained their reasoning for doing so. I'm not sure which one said it (I think it was Suga), but they were saying that they wanted a larger audience to hear their music and they hoped that they could bridge the gap between the commercial world and the underground world so everyone could get a piece of the pie. Those guys weren't trying to hear it cuz they were small minded, not seeing the big picture. RM and Suga were smart! Not to say they don't enjoy being in BTS, but they have used it to their advantage to get their solo rap shit to the masses. The rapper, Be Free, who was making fun of them, who the hell knows his ass?? And, yes, the solo and BTS music are all under one label. The group activity is more universal in nature, tho they do have some very political songs like Baepsae and Am I wrong. In general, a lot of their older stuff talks about rebelling against the system. But, you're right, as solo artists they have a lot more freedom to do exactly what they want.

Also wanted to mention that Suga is close with his family. He recently went to his brother's wedding and has said part of him wants to go back and live with his parents. He went through a lot tho and I could see how he had to mentally separate his mind in those hard times. I'm sure they all feel they missed out on time with their families while building their careers.

@Jody, you guys so far only listen to their "POPULAR" music which is okay, but they have so many good R&B, Hip Hop songs. That's what made me love BTS is their variety of genres. If you listen to Jhope I would suggest "ARSON", my favorite of RM is"Joke", Also Jody could you react to"BTS ROOM LIVE FESTA" & "THIS IS JIMIN" it's behind the scenes of Jimin dancing his a** off...thank you much love.

Mr. Bang supports both group and solo carreers of the boys. But he really let's them do what they want. As BTS the message is just much bigger than their personal selves, they pick a theme as a group and all 7 have to feel it. Mr. Bang even encourages SUGA and the rappers to be controversial if they want. Before the release of the album D-2 , SUGA went to dinner with Mr. Bang and let him listen to the album. (They don't have to do this, but they boys truly respect mr Bang's opinion). And in the song "What do you think" he namedropped a major industry person and Mr. Bang said he could keep it in. I love that youre getting into Suga! He really is so relatable and his music is amazing (you should definitley watch Suchwita episodes with the members or some suga compliation vids- hes got a very goofy side to him lol) The only thing I would have to say is that you really havent gotten into a lot of BTS's music as a group. One of the reasons they are so popular is because they talk about issues that others are afraid to talk about- Once you start reacting to them they can seem confusing because of the language so I reccomend looking up explanation videos on youtube (there are a lot of them!) especially for the rapline songs as theres so many lyrics lol. They as a group arent afraid to curse, call people out, or make themselves known. I understand what you mean because you've primarily watched their more pop stuff but once you start getting into B-sides youll see what were all talking about :) Love your guys' reactions!

They come off fun and silly but it's that way because they're mocking the people they are talking about. Their song NO is also about Korean school system. If I had my way, no one under a certain age would be able to comment, that would stop about half. I got attacked in the comments of someone else because I said that I thought that some idols are debuted too young and you don’t know if it’s bad for them until it’s too late , I said I was a mom and this guy came at me saying “Just because your kids are immature and untalented.. “ He is probably some middle age dude who likes watching 14 yr old girls sing about cookies. If you think Suga is toned down in BTS you should check out J Hopes Lollapalooza. He's a fucking rock star. His style is heavily mixed with Rock and Hip Hop. Yall should react to the Cyphers also, the second is my favorite because RM goes crazy and bullies the hell out of the beat. and not the live Cypher melody although it is good also. I suggest the color-coded lyric videos.
