Greybeard

You can safely read books one and two of the light novel after season one. After season two, you can read books three and four. There are currently 16 books available, 15 of which are in English.

Next episode is one of my favourites!

I had to hold back from saying anything when you first made the theory that Lakan is Maomao’s father because I didn’t want risking spoiling anything haha. I was unfortunately spoiled by social media so I didn’t want it to happen to you. Anyway, it’s always fun to listen to you piece your theories together and be validated when you’re right. Maomao’s complicated relationship with her parents is one of my favourite parts of S1 so I can’t wait to hear more of your thoughts on it! Your thoughts on Suirei is interesting as well! Not a lot of people pay attention to her so it’s nice that you do.

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

The emotion she did not show stemmed from her situation most likely. I don't think she cares if Jinshi sees a women or even a man in a brothel. I think she would be great at playing poker.... Or, there is a 3rd option you didn't think of

Yess loved reading the novels after watching!!! So many details and variations to the translations that just made me enjoy The Apothecary diaries more <33

I was so excited for you to watch this episode when you first thought that Lakan is Maomao's dad! Now excited for you to know the whole story of her parents haha great reaction as always! (Adorable tattoos, btw!)

I am reading the books now - and they are far more serious and gritty than the anime. So I really enjoy seeing the anime first, and then getting even deeper and a little darker, insights into MaoMao's and the people around her's reality. Cam absolutely reccomend

Theories, theories - seeing how far you have watched I can promise you the actual answers are coming very soon! There's a flowering tree that shows a couple of times during this episode, namely eastern redbud - flower language 'betrayal' - not ominous at all.
