4:47 I don't know about Gaoshun not being a eunuch. It makes sense why Jinshi is allowed in the rear palace while still in tact, but I cannot see the royal family allowing even a male retainer from a most faithful family to step foot in there while still retaining their family jewels. Even Maomao says it, only the Emperor and his kin are allowed in the rear palace with their jewels in tact. IDK, I've been way wrong before. 16:30 In the books, Maomao suspects that Lishu's mother had the mirror made so that Lishu could always see her. Even if, for some reason, every picture of her was destroyed, there would still be that hidden image of her in the mirror. It's a shame that Lishu sees the image as haunting instead of a memorial. Also, Lishu must be protected. She's so innocent and yet had such a hard life despite her high standing.

"What happened between you 2 on that hunting trip" what indeed lady gyokoyu what indeed. The look on maomaos face after the whole "Return " "Lend" argument i kinda read it as her being like "did i just get fuckin rizzed?" And I thought that was funny. Moving on from Ship related things, the level of bullying lishu gets is awful and that it takes a powerful man to do anything about is irritating. She doesn't deserve this shit, first groomed by a pedophile and now really demoralising abuse from people who her meant to look after her. Poor lass

I apologize for diverging from the episode's specifics, but I wanted to share my overall perspective. 🙈 It seems that some viewers (particularly on YouTube) might overlook the fact that Maomao and Jinshi are both teenagers, navigating their feelings and experiences as young adults. Despite their intelligence, they exhibit a certain naivety regarding interpersonal dynamics. Some may perceive Jinshi (very) negatively, viewing him as someone who imposes his desires on Maomao. However, I believe it's important to recognize that he is clumsy, inexperienced with women, and awkward in his approach. That being said, even when he acts boldly, he provides Maomao with ample opportunities to decline his advances. Understanding the complexities of Maomao and Jinshi's relationship can be quite challenging, we can't deny that 😅. The differences in their social status, the inherent master-servant dynamic, Maomao's fluctuating emotions, and Jinshi's various disguises all contribute to the intricacies of their interactions. A common struggle for anime viewers is reconciling the cultural differences between Eastern and Western perspectives, especially in historical contexts where societal norms were markedly different. This isn't to say we should excuse every action; rather, we should aim to interpret their behaviors within the framework of their time and culture, rather than judging them solely by contemporary Western morals and sensibilities. I wish everyone a merry Christmas. 🎄🎉

Have you read all the books? If you have you should know how they would allow Gaoshun to enter the rear palace while still having his parts intact 😅

I have not read all the books, yet.
