Can't tell you how excited I am to see you experience the pure cinema that is Farmland Saga!

Ryuuji Gremory

Just as a refresher, only information from Season 1 and these first 2 episodes, Harald is Canute's older brother. Their father was King Sweyn, king of Denmark and about to be acknowledged as King of England before his death. When he died Canute, with his father dead and his older brother back home in Denmark, assumed command of all forces in England, but Harald as the oldest son is now apparently, according to what Olmar said, considered King of Denmark.

This season became my philosophy lol

It’s a subtle detail, but olmar caring about the wheat the guests step on really adds depth to his character, he could have easily just been portrayed as a stereotypical annoying spoiled rich kid. But even though he’s frustrated with his life he still cares about his family’s farm.

Don't apologize for pausing! If I wanted to merely watch the episode, I'd just do that. If anything, I'd rather you intersperse your thoughts throughout the episode instead of only one bulk before and after it. Anyway, one thing's for sure this season, there will be no lack of philosophical themes to discuss lol. Even in this episode, which more than anything just establishes the setting, we've already seen so much depth to be talked about. I've little to add that you didn't already mention, but I do just want to point out how funny I find the censorship. It's always interesting how all the blood and gore of S1 was okay, yet a naked lady (the lady Olmar was with was naked in the manga) had to be covered up with bed sheets. Not relevant at all to the discussion, it's just something I find interesting. Lastly, it's difficult to pick up on at your first viewing, but that last shot of young Thorfinn came from episode 1x05, the very first raid he witnessed firsthand. I think it more than anything is meant to emphasize how much that moment truly traumatized him, and how even now his mind goes back to that moment.

Btw the scene at 23:31 is supposed to show that its actually really hard to unsheathe a long sword from your back, due to length of the sword being longer than your arms reach. This isnt something intuitive to most people, but had Olmar had experience wielding a sword this would've been something he would know beforehand.

We shall neither confirm or deny if your reading of red rising is influencing your interpretation of vinland saga. But it surely was interesting to hear and its definitely on my reading list now. Also don't worry about pausing in between to express your thoughts, you are very articulate person and your reviews adds a depth that I personally crave to see in reaction videos. This is why I believe so many of us are here. Because it is this type of content that often also helps many of us to see one our favourite pieces of work in new light and interpretation. And you have doctor of philosophy in literature, its an absolute treat to watch your analysis. And i also think there will be moments throughout this season where you will feel pain to pause the video as well lol, cuz sometimes you just want to keep watching. As for how long has Thorfinn been working on his own on the farm? It was winter at the end of season 1. Einar comes at the farm during late summer. So it is safe to assume that Thorfinn has been here for about 6 months. Wheat grows in about 120-180 days depending upon its variety and local conditions. It is harvest season

I can't fault Einar for being astonished by the lady's beauty and completely forgot what he had planned to say to the master of the farm haha.👱🏻‍♀️👀 Thank you for the recommendation.📖 Red Rising seems to be a great addition to my reading list blending science fiction and dystopian elements. I like engaging with a compelling narrative that explores themes of rebellion, class conflict, and complex political interactions.

Some of you may have heard many rumours going around the past couple of days claiming that Vinland Saga season 3 is confirmed to be in production. 📽🎞 The rumours claim that this news comes from Yukimura himself. This is....categorically false. 😭🧻 He confirmed afterward he has no official information about Season 3 being in production. These rumours are based on an article recently published but from January 2025 in Le Monde, a French newspaper, that featured an interview with him. Take your time to enjoy this season, Sophie, because I don't know when the next one will come out. 😅

I think it's a bit more nuanced actually. It's pretty clear a season three was greenlit soon, if not immediately after season 2 ended. From leaks, to animators on twitter, we know this without much room for doubt. This is also what the Le Monde article was getting at, as it merely stated it was "in preparation," and not in production. Someone also reached out to the author to ask for clarification, and he specified that it was Yukimura who explicitly told him what he wrote, another confirmation that season 3 is greenlit. What is obviously the case, however, is that they've not started production yet, probably because the staff is still caught up in different projects. A studio like Mappa has their scheduled lined up at least half a decade in advance, after all. We just need to wait for the situation to sort itself out and for the core staff to be available again. Season 3 should just be a matter of time, even if it''ll take longer than I would like it to...
