A couple of things, NO SPOLIERS I PROMISE Firstly, there is a tiktok that is just apothecary diaries from Lihakus perspective and its just hilarious! I'll have to put it into the discord after your finished watching, Secondly, I love when you put everything together. It was like seeing all the puzzle pieces click into place, So satisfying! Lastly, someone may comment this with more context but its been said that Maomao not realizing Jinshi's status in the crowd of men fighting is the first time the anime has really let down the emotional impact of the scene and strayed from the light novel. Apparently Maomao monologues here that really gives some Jinmao perspective, I won't say much to not spoil but some fans are really unhappy with the scene siting its missing crucial detail that makes the reunion feel less than. I am on the fence on such things, I think both are good but it would have been nice to have a look into Maomao's emotions on the first look of Jinshi in prince regalia. Anyway Shisui you are my girl, the light of my life, taking everything down from the inside out and looking fabulous while doing it!

There’s a minor couple of things that it didn’t seem you caught (unless you went back and watched, so I’m sorry if this is unnecessary but: - when Jinshi and Maomao finally reunite, Maomao smiles as Jinshi is fussing over the blood and says to herself “I missed this atmosphere.” Which I think is just the cutest thing ever and shows the cracks forming in her self imposed facade of not caring for Jinshi. - Lihaku mentions that Lakan isn’t there in person because he fell off a wagon and threw out his back before the sneak attack, which is so in character for him and even funnier considering it was off-screen 😂

4:16 Historically speaking, families were never spared, no matter how innocent they were. I heard a saying once that explained it perfectly. If you spare the innocent children, they will grow up hating you, no matter how wrong their parents were. They will want revenge and may even follow the same path their parents did because of that hatred. 12:53 I've mentioned it before, but Maomao and Shisui are two peas in a pod. Both are born from noble parents, but enjoy the slow commoner life. Due to the meddling of their parents, they get wrapped up in things beyond the life they seek. 30:55 We have seen him before, once. He is one of Lakan's top military leaders. 45:20 I'm surprised it took you that long to come to that conclusion. LMAO. Honestly, in the books, it was harder for me to pick up on that, but the anime gives so many hints that it was the special drug. However, the emotions felt so good, to think the children actually died. It's a great feeling the despair you felt gets replaced with hope. Excellent writing by the author. (Note: I could not finish the post review session due to work. I hope nothing I said gets contradicted.)

That soldier that you recognized was not the soldier received Concubine Foyu as a gift. We did see him looking for and finding Lakan in the first season. It was brief but he did make an appearance

Didn’t mean that as criticism! But you’re right I shouldn’t expect anything less from the Analysis, Detail-Catching Queen :)

I'm actually glad that you didn't pick up on the children getting the resurrection medicine right away. That sudden moment of realization was a joy to behold!😍 And yes, you are probably going to shed a tear or two yet before all is said and done. Cute hedgehogs, by the way. I kept thinking of Norman from Monty Python.😄

"Jinshi in his armor is so hot!... but... uhmm... sorry I need to go back" best part

The scenes between Maomao and Shisui in this episode are some of my favourites scenes. I got really emotional when Maomao offered Shisui a prayer of good luck (something that is unlike her) and tried really hard to get Shisui to abandon her role/pride and run away. It showed us how much Maomao really cared for Shisui. I loved the moment where it clicked for you that the children weren’t dead. It was so hard for me not to comfort you and to keep quiet about their fates in the previous reactions. Shisui is really doing all that she can to protect the children 😭

How is maomao somehow simultaneously one of the most intelligent and perceptive characters I've ever seen, like Batman or sherlock holmes level detective skills but anything to do with jinshi the blinders go on . Jesus christ maomao, LOOK AT HIM. who else could that be. Lakan getting so worked up he hurt himself is funny but understandable it is his daughter

You are right about the feeling that we have seen that soldier before, but it was a really short scene in episode 14 of Season 1, when Lakan was investigating the fire/explosion in the store house. He is a direct subordinate of Lakan.

When Alaskan is speaking rudely to Jinshi and Lahan cuts in and says if you harm an imperial family member you won’t be the only one harmed - he means that his whole family will be wiped out including Maomao 😂 That’s why Lakan backs down.

Kita

The war tactics are explained a lot better in the books. When you read them, it’s very interesting! Lakan is a genius! We already knew that but I love seeing his plans in action

🗣 "Are you coming with me? Now is the best time to run, you know. If Mother finds out, things will get pretty scary, a whipping will be the least of it." (EP.21) The explosion Loulan caused inside the fortress by igniting the gunpowder, risking her own life, the likely overwhelming sense of guilt she must feel for having poisoned the lives of innocent children even if this action stemmed from a place of mercy. Her desire to break free from being a puppet of her narcissistic mother, who is driven by an insatiable thirst for power. Loulan urging Maomao to flee while she chooses to stay behind. All indications point to the tragic possibility that Loulan was on the brink of ending her own life. I felt the same way as you did after observing Loulan's behavior and her conversation with Maomao. 🥹

The action scenes in The Apothecary Diaries may not match the multimillion-dollar spectacles of the typical battle shounen, but given that 99% of the series so far has consisted of characters simply sitting and conversing, any action we do get feels incredibly exhilarating. Jinshi’s trust in Lihuaku is absolute; he wouldn’t have entrusted Maomao’s safety to just anyone. 🤝🏼 In just a few hours, Lihaku’s mind was blown🤯. He discovered that Jinshi is the moon prince and the leader of the army. To make matters even more intense, he learned that the daughter of the top military strategist has been kidnapped and that daughter is none other than Maomao. On top of all this, I think it gets clear to him that Jinshi and Maomao share feelings for each other. What a wild day it must be for Lihaku haha!
