HEAR ME OUT!

I know it's not usually done this way but with how restricted I am for filming - I really don't know if I'm gonna have time to film Demon Slayer as a movie.

It's somewhat become a perfect storm in that its fallen on the weekend before I go to London along with 2 other films + editing / sorting all content out for YT and Patreon prior to being gone for a week.

Keep in mind that I only have 2 days to film per week so not only am I filming ALL content for Patreon which takes around 40 to 50 mins per react, Breaking Bad is 1 hour. I would then have to sit down and film 2 hours of Demon Slayer, 2 hours of Chainsaw Man, and then 2 hours of the Founding Titan Request. I also then have to still find time somehow to edit. It's just a LOT.

It's really not feasible without burning myself out considerably. It's much more manageable for me to watch it in smaller pieces especially as Chainsaw Man is a non negotiable as they only released it as a movie.

I apologise if anyone is upset by this but I have to try and make things work for me as best I can.

I might still be able to do the movie but I really don't know how it will work out next weekend. Even if I delay it by a week I still run into the issue where I'd have 2 movies at 2 hours to film for + all the episodes + 1 hour for Breaking Bad across 2 days which is a lot.

So I don't really know what to do right now haha!

The episodes have more info than the movie anyway especially about rengoku

Lustful~Mirage

If it helps you and your schedule I'm alright with you doing the episodes instead of the film 👍❤️ wouldn't want you having a massive burn out with a already stressful schedule

Sam

Personally, I watched the mugen train episodes rather than the movie, and I think it’s a perfectly good way to watch that arc! Plus, you'll get to have some more breathing room with your thoughts & analysis by watching it in episode form.

Brandon

So at the end of the day, you should do whatever you want to do. That being said, I personally would be totally fine with a larger delay to Demon Slayer reactions being continued if it meant a reaction to the full movie.

DrSophieDarlingReacts

Yeah that's also partially my worry too - I feel I'm much better with episodes because it's broken down whereas longer movies I find myself getting tired haha!

Gpinko

I (personally) don’t think that’s super controversial! It’s released in episode format for a reason so if you can take advantage of that with your schedule, do it

DrSophieDarlingReacts

I wouldn't be against doing the movie at a later point and comparing it to the episodes but I can't really delay Demon Slayer entirely without also having to delay it on YT which takes away my revenue streams which I need for paying tax / my editor :')

Van

I support this, do the episodes. The episodes should actually be better for a reaction, since they force you to stop and talk about the story so far and about your theories and thoughts. I never watched a movie from you, so I don't know how well you do it during movies, but I know from myself that it is way easier to do something when you're forced to do it.

Tay

Dont feel too bad, I watched these as the episodes for the first time rather than the movie (I think cuz thats how it was on Netflix and thats the only place I was watching it at the time), But Ive watched both at this point and I think itll be okay lol! It was a while ago when I watched it so I dont remember the differentces too well and I guess I can see how it would be better for the momentum of the story at that point to watch it in one sitting, but I dont think its really that big of a deal, honestly! Do whats best for you!!

Brandon

Ah ok I see. Then ultimately I think doing the episodes is fine. I'm not wholly against the episodes, for me it's just a general preference. But if your hands are tied then by all means go with the episodes!

Adam Banwell

Will always hear you out, if the episodes fit better then thats just how the cookie crumbles. If it works out for time has anyone suggested watching S2 Episode 1 first then watching the movie? I dont know if that fits to split the schedule and you get to experience the movie as well. If this has already been said please ignore me.

DrSophieDarlingReacts

I get a bit tired with movies because there's so much to take in. I broke up the AOT Movie into the 5 Chapters just because I knew I'd be able to talk more about the events rather than just leaving it all to the end. Considering how much I cried - I genuinely think I would have just barely been able to say anything of worth because I would have been exhausted!

Charlie baker

Not really besides ep 1 but if it makes sense for her schedule, its a go

Gpinko

If you decide to do episode then I would recommend just starting off with that S2 Ep1 bonus episode anyway, it’s included in the season I know you were debating to watch that before or after the movie but if you watch episodes may as well just start with that one

Charlie baker

Honestly i also don't mind if you wanted to break the movie into digestsble chunks either, but if the episodes work better for your schedule go for it

Link

I also watched the episodes rather than the movie and I felt perfectly happy doing so. I'll enjoy your reactions either way!

DrSophieDarlingReacts

It doesn't work for time because that was what I was going to do haha! Which again requires - - Monster Ep 15 - 40 mins - Monster Ep 16 - 40 mins - Demon Slayer 2 x 1 - 40 mins - Demon Slayer Mugen Train - 2 hours - Kill Bill Vol 1 - 2 hours in a single day and that would also be the day straight after filming - JJK 1 x 13 - 40 mins - JJK 1 x 14 - 40 mins - Witch Hat Atelier 1 x 2 - 40 mins - Chainsaw Man Movie - 2 hours so unfortunately the only option is to delay it for a couple of weeks which I don't want to do because it impacts Patreon and YT :')

Van

Yeah then the episodes should definitely be better than the movie, for both your schedule and us to watch. Reactions with more talking are usually more enjoyable. Also the episodes do have some extra scenes in form of the taisho secrets

Charlie baker

I dont know about natural since they basically cut up the movie and threw in fluff to make it into episodes but again if it works better do what works better for the schedule

Adam Banwell

My head already hurts looking at the schedule! So I will fully endorse whatever gives you a break in between in.

DrSophieDarlingReacts

Yeah it's the perfect storm because I also have to then find time to EDIT all of that for Patreon so I can schedule it whilst I'm away as I won't have access to a computer haha!

Charlie baker

Ooooh the reze movie is soo good looking forward to it, it and the demon slayer infinity castle movies were peak theater and home viewing experiences

Ilurandir

Yeees! I have watched a bit of a movie and a tv arc , and honestly i liked the episodes more! They do have a bit more scenes and in my opinion better sequence of the scenes (the movie differs a bit), it's not crazy but i felt the story better with the episodes. I also watched the 2x1 before the arc, and don't know why it is recommended to be watched after mugen arc. Anyway, do how you feel is better for you:)

DrSophieDarlingReacts

I meant as in there's a clear divide between start and finish whereas the movie likely just runs from start to finish! I can break it up into 40 minutes and 40 minutes but I'd be worried about cutting it off at a big point!

DrSophieDarlingReacts

I think the episodes just work better for me schedule wise! I already find it a lot watching 40 mins of Breaking Bad + a 2 hour movie a week without throwing in ANOTHER 2 hour movie when it can be watched as episodes :')

DrSophieDarlingReacts

Yeah I will be booking time off to watch Infinity Castle if it EVER RELEASES onto Crunchyroll rather than just cinema!

st4rmin

I watched both the movie version and the episodes version and there wasn't much of a difference except how they had to adjust some scenes to end the episodes for cliffhangers and to make it make sense, so its totally fine to watch either of them, especially if it works better for you !

Mickael Landry

Haha, don't worry, I don't see that as controversial at all! It's super smart of you to adapt your filming plans to your current workload and filming limitations. We'll be perfectly happy to watch your reactions to the Demon Slayer episodes instead of the movie, and honestly, MORE CONTENT IS ALWAYS A WIN! 🎉 Your thoughtful and sweet approach to reactions is what we love, and we're just glad you're finding a way to make it work without stressing yourself out.

Drai

100% def more info

Antonio

I actually like the episodes more because it slows down and expands on some scenes a bit more giving you time to digest rather then immediately throwing you into the next part while you're still processing.

DrSophieDarlingReacts

I think that was partly my worry too that I wouldn't have the space to actually discuss what's happening in as much depth! :')

WondrousMay

I respect your decision! Like I said in my other comment, it just depends on which format you prefer and if watching episodes is better for your schedule and your overall mentality then I fully support it! Please take care!

DrSophieDarlingReacts

I think both schedule and being able to take the space to discuss what happened in more depth than if I just watched the movie. I tend to get a bit exhausted with movies but also trying to remember everything that happened in a 2 hour time frame haha!

The_Venomous_Viper

Definitely makes sense for how packed your schedule is currently, I think it is the right move

DrSophieDarlingReacts

Yeah I was trying to work it all out today and I was like "right when do I get time to edit and also clean my house before my mum arrives to take care of Sullivan whilst I'm gone but also time to pack?!"

The_Venomous_Viper

I feel this in my personal life right now too hah trying to time my house closing with moving everything out of my rental and timing it with getting PTO at work and also part of my rental contract is I need to have the carpets professionally cleaned before I move. Everything is just chaotic trying to make it all time out well haha totally understand and I don't think watching DS as a movie is much different than just watching S2 as eps in order personallly.

Mickael Landry

Another benefit is that you spare yourself the mental gymnastics and the headache of figuring out whether you should watch the movie Mugen Train before or after episode 1, haha. At least this way, the matter is settled. 😁

WondrousMay

I completely understand! I also have a hard time sitting down and watching a movie lately because of the lack of energy and concentration. It sucks when you can’t really focus on the story especially when you want to engage with in on a deeper level.

Nadj

Doing it as episodes as part of Season 2 makes total sense, especially as a reactor...gives more chances for discussion, comments and additional content for your channel.

ML Snow

When they aired that arc on TV, they created a first episode to introduce it so 20 minutes that aren't in the movie. Besides that, the series even has some added material. It's the most complete version of the arc, even though it started as a movie. What could be the only problem? The pacing. Since it wasn't conceived as a series from the beginning, some episodes might end abruptly, but it's not too bad.

Mina E.D

I guess this is a chance for me to see the extra bits that are added in the episodes as well. While I was hoping for the movie if im being honest, burnout is the worst. And since you won't be able to delay in order to keep them coming to YouTube, it seems like the best option is to watch ep by ep. I myself watched the movie in 2 days and it didn't take away from the emotional impact(though I may have been sleepy which makes me more likely to be emotional lol). I've seen a couple reactors watch the eps too. Not many but they exist.

domi

Hell yeah controversial queen, tbh I think both have their strengths and it's not like you would be missing anything, so whatever works for you in the end is always the better option

AlexV_9

I really appreciate the extras added to the episodic version, especially episode 4.

Citrine

I think that’s fine! Plus, more opportunities for taisho secrets that you won’t get with the movie.

Leah Henderson

It's also my first watch of Demon Slayer, and I'm doing S2 instead of the movie myself, so I am obvs on Team S2! ☺️ Also, hi, Dr Sophie! 👋 It's been a while since I commented bc Life got in the way of my viewing, but I am all caught up and looking forward to continuing the anime journeys with everyone! 🫶🏻

Jech

I think this is totally fine, and easier to analyze the chunks. The nice thing is the movie is just split into episodic format and retains the quality so you are really not missing out on anything. Actually there is something like 60+ new cuts (mostly brief scenes) across the episodes that are not in the movie so you actually gain more this way.

Krul

I mean, let's be real, the only reason this arc (and other similar arcs) was released as a movie rather than as individual episodes is so that the studio could make a ton of money. (Which they did.) But watching it as individual episodes is perfectly reasonable too. I don't think this is controversial at all. I mean, no one batted an eye when you didn't watch all of the Mount Natagumo arc in one sitting.

L

You do whatever is convenient for you please, I will still be watching ! 😄

Cats 'N Pops

I'd say take a week or 2 off until you have time for the movie! If you have to watch the episodes just make sure to avoid the opening because it has a crazy amount of spoilers!

DrSophieDarlingReacts

I can't take a week or 2 off because then it completely derails YT and Patreon and impacts my revenue which I need to pay my editor and also taxes. It also doesn't change anything because I'd still end up having to watch 2 movies across 2 days of filming whilst also filming 9 episodes for 5 series. It's not that simple unfortunately when you aren't a full time creator. The only reason I can do that next week for Chainsaw Man and Kill Bill is because I have a few days off before going to London so there's a bit more flexibility but not enough to film 3 films. I never watch OP's and ED's.

Anna Kyruin

I think this is one of those things people are needlessly overly passionate about. It's like whether to watch Ilse's notebook before or after S2E1 in AOT, or whether to skip the mid season end credits in S3 of that series. Long story short, do what works for you. I think it's more enjoyable as a movie, but it is great either way.
