I cried with you well watching this even though I’ve seen demon slayer so many times. I never can get over just how much Tanjiro has to go through and how strong he is. And just how good he is. Rengoku also makes me cry because he’s such a good big brother. If there is one big reoccurring theme in Demon Slayer it is family, and love. How those bonds can make and break a person. You’ll see this a lot throughout the entire series, and it honestly never gets easier. Because we see so much loss in so many characters backstories and how it affected them. We also see a lot of familial relationships. Honestly I can’t say I’ve ever seen a story focus so much on family. There’s even some found family stuff like with the main trio. (Tanjiro is such a good big brother and that extends to everyone.) I can’t wait till the next episode tomorrow, and I will keep crying with you! 😂

Hello, great reaction 👋 Frankly, Rengoku's dream is fascinating and so unique! 😴💭 While the other characters take refuge in fantasies or unfulfilled desires, the Flame Pillar's "dream" is of a completely different nature. No idyllic world here: we're plunged straight into a scene full of tension with his father denying his efforts and the sadness of his little brother Senjuro. Why this choice❓️ That's what's so great about it❗️ It's not an ideal, but a reflection of his responsibilities and latent anxieties. Instead of fleeing into an alternate reality, Rengoku has already fully accepted his life. The truth is, he has no major regrets haunting him. His motivation is crystal clear and pure: to protect and support his family, even in the face of those who cause him worry or pain. Behind the super-powerful warrior and the figure of indestructible hope, this scene reveals a much more intimate and complex Rengoku. His deepest motivations are rooted in his family ties and an unwavering sense of duty. 🫡 Ultimately, his dream is not a quest for future happiness, but the confirmation that he fully accepts his current choices. It is this emotional maturity and extraordinary resilience that make him such a striking and inspiring character! Don't be surprised, Sophie, that Rengoku is often mentioned as one if not the most beloved characters by Demon Slayer fans. ❤️‍🔥🫶🏻🫶🏽🫶🏾

That's a very beautiful point. It also embodies his philosophy of burning with passion because it can never be diminished which is why he returns to that moment as a form of reassurance that he is pursuing the right path and there is honour in being a Hashira even if it did not bridge the divide between him and his father. It allowed him to teach his brother a valuable lesson and brought them closer in turn hence why we do see some of that idyllic world in that he's training his brother once more and he falls back into that escape because it's a longing to be with his brother and a hope for training him when he returns home. He misses him much like Tanjiro misses his family.

Your analysis was great at the end, though there will be more details in a future episode that I think will make a great follow up. When you said "they keep moving forward," I couldnt help but remember Attack on Titan and the VERY different way that phrase is used in that show

Rengoku is my favourite character so i cry every time we get the scene of him telling his father he has become a hashira. someone else brought it up here, but the fact that his dream was so grounded in reality, more of a memory than a dream - even if Tanjiro's is so realistic that it could have been a day in his life it doesn't present as a memory but more as the most appealing world to him, which isn't reality, it is a life where his family is alive where none of this happened. And the dreams are meant to keep them there. So, keeping Inosuke and Zenitsu with their dreams of fantasy, and Tanjiro with his dream of not being where he is now, but back before all of this happened. Then there's Rengoku, his dream is a memory, *that* is what is most appealing to him, he lives with no regrets so there is nothing he would rather than life his life. I also think that it says a lot about him that the "chosen" memory to keep him asleep is one most wouldn't associate with happiness, where after years of hard work, he finally achieved what he thought might get a positive reaction from his father only for that to completely backfire, leading to both his and his little brother's disappointment. Yet, despite that, he seems content. I think he is so true to his core being a burning fire of passion, much like his breathing form. He was raised with passion and was taught how to fight, to protect others, and when he lost both parents as proper guardians, he didn't let it deter him, he continued on with passion. I find it so admirable, the idea that you can be so attuned with yourself that while you have goals, you are satisfied and unregretful. There is still a lot i wanna talk about concerning him, but i'll constrain myself to what we know or can assume so far

Something I found interesting is the girl saying she's never seen a red spiritual core before implying she's seen at the very least 1

That was the most heartfelt reaction I've ever seen! I had a few tears coming down, too. Here's a bit of trivia for you: the demon's name is Enmu. He fashioned those ice-pick weapons out of his bones and teeth for extra strength and lethality.💀

Ugh I also bawled throughout this one. I just love Tanjiro's compassion and fortitude. He is my new anime GOAT since I started this show with you!
