Honestly, the way Demon Slayer uses food and hunger to show a character's power level and mental state is absolutely genius and it gives off major Attack on Titan vibes! 🍽️💥 Think about it: moving from a low-level demon to an Upper Rank isn't just about getting a massive power buff. It’s a total psychological upgrade. 🧠📈 In Season 1, the basic demons we meet are literally tragic slaves to their own biology.⛓️👹🩸 They are trapped in this constant, frantic panic to devour human flesh just to survive. They don’t even have a choice; it's pure, desperate survival mode. But once a demon climbs to the absolute top of the food chain—like Akaza or Daki—that desperate hunger completely vanishes. Suddenly, eating isn't a frantic struggle to stay alive; it’s a cold, calculated strategy for pure supremacy. 🎯 Sure, the Upper Ranks still eat humans to get stronger and keep Muzan happy, but they have completely mastered their base instincts.🧘🏻‍♀️Look at Daki! She’s not out here grabbing scraps because she’s starving. She is incredibly picky, hand-selecting her victims based on beauty, status, and prestige. 💅👑 For these top-tier demons, humans aren’t a desperate lifeline anymore. They’re a straight-up luxury item, consumed purely to flex their power as the world’s ultimate apex predators. 🦁 And honestly, that’s what makes them also so terrifying.😱 By breaking free from that chaotic survival panic, they gain this chilling mental clarity🧊. They don't hurt people because they have to, they do it because they choose to! 😈🔪

No we can never get over Rengoku’s death, it’ll forever impact me 😭 These next couple episodes are SO action packed, I’m so ready!

Buzzard

Oh-ho-ho! So you want to see Daki's backstory, eh? Be careful what you wish for.😈

I dont think we know how many Hashira Azaka has killed at this point in the show? IIRC, in Mugen Train, all he says is, ""There were never any Flames among all the Hashira I've killed until now.""

Also, you were really hard on yourself here! Be nice! You're great! And you pick up on WAY more than anyone else I've seen on first watch

I liked that you talked about Tanjiro’s inner monologue and his way of rationalizing his body’s reactions. One of the many criticisms that I saw about Tanjiro was how they find his monologues annoying which is pretty sad. I personally like hearing Tanjiro’s thoughts and how he motivates himself despite his fear. Things are about to get more flashy so I’m very excited!!!

I think it's such a good way to rationalise your emotions! He's showing such maturity for a boy so young to be able to talk himself down out of a panic! :')

The muscle mice absolutely sent me XD I also felt oddly suspicious of Koinatsu during that scene with the little girls, but I think there's a sense of foreboding in the scene that we were misplacing. What we really felt was the sinking suspicion that something was about to happen to Koinatsu because that scene was so sweet otherwise! T_T

DrSophieDarlingReacts

Absolutely but glad to know it wasn't just me sat there like "wait why is the VIBE off?!"

Most demons will get a backstory sooner or later, very few demons die without having their human lives told. Previous examples would be the swamp demon from Tanjiro’s first mission and Enmu from Mugen Train. Though I’d caution to be careful what you wish for 😁 For some pronunciations! The Sound Hashira’s name is Tengen Uzui, pronounced Ten-gen Oo-zoo-ee.
