Her having her nudes out there with her face attached would basically be social suicide in Korea forever. Yes there is a zombie apocalypse now but if things got better it would definitely matter quite a lot. I remember 2 actresses that were literally bullied to death over the first one showing some deep cleavage in a dress ( she got her whole carrier destroyed over it and basically became a social and professional outcast) and the second one over chosing not to wear a bra under a shirt and her views on social topics because she was deemed a feminist. I think an athlete also got bullied online quite a bit over being accused of being a feminist because she had very short hair. And I get that these were people in the public eye but given how severe bullying is over there with high school students (because they barely ever get punished even over physical school violence because of their very lax juvenile laws) and how victim blamey it can get, her reaction made total sense to me. It wasn't rational but neither is the reaction she would've gotten after her nudes leaking.

I never said it was irrational and it would be the same anywhere. Having your nudes leaked is a huge violation of privacy. I think the examples you are using, and which you acknowledge, are extreme as the public perception of public figures is far more intense than regular civilians. However, if she truly wanted to die she would have done so. A part of her wanted to live and that part of her was stronger than the desire to die. My point still stands that it likely would have been drowned out by the intensity of a national emergency. What feels like the most life-ending moment may not have the impact you presume it will with the world coming to an end. There was no way of truly knowing what would happen. What it does emphasise is the emotional break that the pictures have caused because she's not thinking rationally since it happened.

Oh yeah, totally! I was not disagreeing haha I was just explaining how I personally saw it when I first watched it because of these incidents I remembered . But yeah I can’t even imagine how devastated she must have felt in that moment. Especially after being bullied for so long already. That scene from the night before where her friend says “I know you’re dying to live” always makes me emotional. 🥲
