At long last, SOMEONE has told Yuji that he wasn’t responsible for what happened in a way that could actually stick this time. Also, Judgeman probably has my favorite Shikigami design aside from Rika.

Unholy

Such a good episode. Think a top 3 of the season for me for sure. Great new character I'd love to see more of

Robaut

The different answers to "have you killed someone of your own volition?" between the last episode and this episode gets me every time

Vinícius Oliveira

My favourite episode of the whole series so far, geezer was in the show for 2 eps and became a top 3 fave character in the entire show for me after this episode. Hats off to Gege for some amazing character writing👏🏾👏🏾 Also never can get over how unreal the music towards the end of this ep

Ending scene was so good. Not only was it a good call not to have Higuruma help Itadori and the others out as he's overpowered af, there's also logical and emotional reason from Higuruma behind it. Higuruma knew that if he continued looking at Itadori, he would only end up hating himself more because Yuji reminded him of the kind of person he could have been or the kind of person he once was. Someone who, despite having every reason to resent the world or put the blame on something else, refused to let his suffering become an excuse to stop caring or bear the burden. Higuruma had allowed his disillusionment with the justice system and his anger at the world to consume him, until indifference became easier than continuing to believe in anything. But Yuji, despite carrying an unbearable amount of guilt and grief, continued to take responsibility without abandoning his compassion. Maybe what hurt Higuruma the most was that Yuji's existence reminded him that suffering didn't necessarily have to turn someone into the person he had become. Love how he goes back to being his old self (returning to his roots) by the end of the episode. You could literally see the shift from how he "felt" about killing. Higuruma in the beginning of this mini-arc: "Have you ever killed someone who ticked you off? It feels better than expected." Higuruma after: "Have you ever killed someone of your own volition? It felt absolutely awful, didn't it?"

i love higuruma ♡ this episode is just SO GOOD!! the big emotional payoff for all that guilt itadori has been carrying since shibuya is masterfully handled, how he has no hesitation to admit to this crime that he didn’t commit, even when admitting to it could easily result in his death… it just says sooo much about how much that event haunts him, far more than he’s even been able to show us. he’s such a good kid who doesn’t deserve any of this. I had NOT thought about judgeman’s reaction in the way you did! super good analysis there, linking it to lady justice!! I only saw the blood as judgeman crying as a result of the injustice. My favourite part is the very end where higuruma sits with him on the chair after recognising that they’re really both just people who want to do the right thing. That final line of “I see. It felt absolutely awful, didn’t it?” in regards to killing a person is just so, so poignant to me. It’s such a good way of humanising Higuruma who wasn’t being honest with himself before, but also giving Itadori someone he can find solidarity in. To me, this almost bittersweet acknowledgement is Higuruma’s way of extending a hand and showing Itadori a pathway toward forgiving himself one day.

Higuruma is such an incredible character, I love how his mindset of seeing the weakness in people parallels Geto's ideology towards non-sorcerers. Higuruma was spiraling down that same path of darkness but through meeting Itadori he remembers the beauty in that weakness and walks through the doorway filled with light at the very end🥹

The whole idea of a technique coming equipped with a domain off rip and a domain being required to really use the technique is so cool to me, especially the idea of using the fundamentals of barriers to learn the basics of jujutsu. Higuruma essentially did the equivalent of knowing calculus immediately and deriving algebra from it

One thing that I don’t think I saw in the analysis was that the colors of the spotlight that was on Higuruma changes throughout the episode to reflect his mental conflict

baileygobrr

i love the symbolism of the lights in the theatre all shining on itadori so much that higuruma starts to squint his eyes. despite his new belief that there is nothing down that path but blinding darkness, yuji is literally the shining light that proves him wrong and brings him back to what he originally believed these two reallllyy needed to meet eachother hahahaha

Something really cool that kind of became a headcannon for a lot of people is that Judgeman is meant to represent an angel, which are said to cry blood for the innocent, which is why its eyes bled when Itadori said that he was guilty of the crime because deep down it knew that he wasn't guilty (judgeman knows everything)

Ever since this episode came out I was waiting for your reaction to it, I knew you would love it!

Every episode since the start of the season, is just banger after banger, I'm glad we got the slightly lighter fight club episodes though or I think viewers would have been fighting for their lives.

4:00 Two weeks until the next Sumo tournament! Sumo wrestlers are the closest things we got to Jujutsu sorcerers, since it is an ancient Shinto purification ritual. Just saying has anyone tried just throwing salt and stomping at Sukuna? Ura could take him.

JitterBones

It's a very emotional episode, but in a good way.

I'm aiming to visit Japan Autumn of 2027 so I'll have to see if I can catch a tournament!

I find the evolution of domains really interesting bc, while sorcerers now benefit from the increased lethality of domains, I personally see this widespread embracing of that evolution as a restriction in a lot of ways. Kinda feels like sorcerers decided to remove the "art" from jujutsu in favor of being as aggressively lethal as possible. Great in a fight, sure, but I can't help but wonder how many more Higuruma-types there would be, but are held back in their expression bc of this standard for domains. To be fair, though, it's not uncommon for a development that could be used for benign purposes to be reduced into a means for violence

Well higuruma is right that people are flawed but before he snapped he believed those very flaws were important. Yuji represents one of those flaws when he admits guilt for sukuna despite not being responsible. Not only this but higuruma wouldn’t join because Yuji is a mirror to his past self and so he’d hate himself seeing that left behind side of him still living in Yuji
